One of the very first albums my Daddy let me buy was freddy's album lead song Games People Play. he was so cute and could really sing starting on country music. I think I wore that album out but I still have his first and many more in my collection . I have quite many of his albums in my collection. I was a country gal all the way. I listen less these days but Freddy could make our hearts beat faster! Tx fan Gloria

On this day in 1969 {June 8th} Freddy Weller's covered version of "Games People Play" peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, for the two weeks it was at #2, the #1 record for both those weeks was "Running Bear" by Sonny James... Two months earlier on March 9th, 1969, Joe South's original version of "Games People Play" peaked at #12 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Top 100 chart... Between 1969 and 1980 the Freddy Weller had twenty six records on the Hot Country Singles chart, six* made the Top 10 with the above "Games People Play" being his biggest hit... Besides "Games People Play", his other five Top 10 records were "These Are Not My People" {#5 in 1969}, "The Promised Land" {#3 in 1971}, "Indian Lake" {#3 in 1971}, "Another Night of Love" {#5 in 1971}, and "Too Much Monkey Business" {#8 in 1973}... I agree, and the Lord knows I'm not taking anything away from Joe South. I really like this and Freddy's studio version.
