Been loving Frédéric Malle lately, myself. Without a doubt, one of the coolest brands out here. I love how Fred provides his perfumers with a high ceiling of creativity and quality. And you're welcome, Eugen. Glad you are enjoying Superstitious, brother. Also Kristo, thanks for putting this together on your channel. This is a wonderful overview from the both of you. My personal favourites are Carnal Flower, L'Eau, D'Hiver, Lys Mediterranée, Portrait of a Lady, and Superstitious [Superstitious grew on me in a Chanel type of way too]. Frédéric Malle FTW! =]

Excellent overview of the FM house. Really enjoyed it. I own Poal and really like French lover which is going to be my next purchase from this house although when you mentioned reformulation , I am not sure now, will have to sample it again as I only experienced original.

We get slammed here in the USA on niche prices. So I do shop directly from Europe . Yes, there is the shipping charges, but you still end up getting a better deal. I bought Heeley's Eau Sacree , not every bodies favorite, for 187 euros . Here in the states it retails for $230. The 187 euros included shipping, plus Heeley sent me a bunch of samples. I had excellent email conversation with the company. I love Fredric Malle. I have a couple. I think it's very interesting that Malle keeps them in the frig. Great review of this truly amazing niche house.

I'm in the US and I buy some niche from Europe when it's a better deal. Having said that Gilda at the NYC boutique is awesome and hooked me up with some bonus samples! Monsieur is a great fragrance and my favorite from the House so far is French Lover.

The Portrait of a lady and Monsieur connection is due to the musks. Both have heavy doses of musks and high quality diffusive musks. It's not the patchouli. It's also why you both disagree because some people are nose blind to certain musks so the association will differ from person to person. I definitely smell similar musks in these two, and in fact most FM fragrances. The musk structure is what makes a Frederic Malle perfume distinct.

Bois d'Orage to me smells sort of like a freshly cut Red Pepper. It sounds weird, but with the vetiver and incense it works really well; definitely one of my all-time favorites

Hi, I found this through Eugene's channel! Thanks for such an interesting and in depth look at this line! I have been debating picking up the gorgeous Carnal Flower for ages but haven't because of the crazy prices in Toronto too! I just tried the Malle website based on your great tip for buying straight from them, but I can't seem to do it from Canada? How did you do it exactly or do you know if it's still possible? Help! Thank you both for the very informational video. I was looking to pick up some scents in Toronto but was not keen on paying the HoltRenfrew prices. I went on the international website and the European one to try and order like you guys mention in the video but it doesn’t seem like they ship to Canada anymore. That’s unfortunate. Would love to know if you guys know any other ways to source these for a fair price :).

They just changed shipping policy and Canada was taken off. The best place, as I know, is Premier Avenue in Europe. Their prices are similar to the Malle site, they ship to Canada and have lots of other brands. They also give very generous samples.

Wearing French Lover today thanks to a certain someone...I love how transparent it is on me. Does remind me of the Encre Noire extreme a little bit in the smell, though much lighter and refined in execution.

Very well done video-subscribed. Any November 2019 updates regarding ordering from Europe? (shipping to Canada) The International site will not let you add to the bag, the EU site only ships in the EU and the US site only ships inside the USA. Is Holt Renfrew my only online choice in Canada if you live in the middle of nowhere?

It would be fun if someone did an Aventus side by side comparison with Music For a While (I know they are quite different) but just for the hell of it, and because I think Music FAW is a great fragrance, the sillage smells fantastic. Music is probably the most approachable (but worthwhile) FM fragrance, along with En Passant and Dans Tes Bras.

I've only tried three from the line..POAL great quality but too much rose and incense for my liking. Musc Ravageur had a nice vanilla but I can't do clove so it was a no way for me but then Carnal Flower blew me away, ended up buying a 50ml full retail from the only place I could get it from where I live without having to pay more for import duties.

My 5 stars: Une Fleur de Cassie (greenhouse and sweaty butt-cheeks), Dans Tes Bras (female genitalia, violet candy and invigorating chemical hazard). Music For a While (invigorating sweet and sour fruits with dry lavender), Angeliques sous la pluie (20-sprays or you better pray), POAL (not for me) 4 stars: L'eau d'hiver, Geranium Pour Monsieur. 3 stars: French Lover (great opening, boring drydown), Noir Epices (too much), Musc R (sponge cake with cloves and orange peel) 2 stars: Dries van noten (too dusty and dry)

I've always been disappointed by the lack of aesthetic attention Malle gives his bottles given what they charge, but when Kristo mentioned that they charge based on the price of materials and take such care with storage I'm less annoyed. GOD I love a good tuberose. It's so sexy to me.
