Al Bowlly's version and the song itself were forgotten for decades - now it has come to represent the era - it is one of the most haunting songs ever written

It originally wasn't a huge song, but after the shining came out, this beautiful tune is one of the most famous big band songs in history.

Sorry that the prop phonograph is playing the record backwards while ruining the groove, aiming the needle in that direction.
@Gennettor-nc8kx4 ай бұрын
It's not a "prop phonograph playing the racord backwards" but a proper Gramophone playing the record in the correct direction - but with the tone arm and soundbox placed on the wrong side of it, against the groove.

someone with studies in music: why do we identify as a very old orchestra only by listening to it even though we have not heard it before? or is the effect the shinning? even modern interpretation sounds ancient. Mantovani did not interpret it, I think he did not like singers. affectionate greetings to those of us who see these formidable themes for us, I even want to dance, but I am very clumsy. greetings from emxico january / 22

As a real enjoyer of the original score, i don't think that this is a great redone of the original song, i think that they chopped it in to the little bits and blew it's brains off. It's not. Corrected enough.

Totally agree. The balance and orchestral rendition of the original will never be matched by todays technology.

@@jacktorrance9688 why not try to make it better than or as good as the original? In fact, why listen to this (which, according to you, has been conceived as being worse than the original), if we can just listen to the original?
