Them holding their breath was actually legit! They were so relaxed

Noyce!! One of the most important parts I had to learn to overcome and become comfortable in swimming was the breathing part! The concept was tough until somebody said "You don't hold your breath while you're running, bicycling, jumping, or lifting weights, right?" Made sense and enabled me to overcome the bad habit of taking a deep breath and puffing out my cheeks before going under water. The head rotation to take a breath is still something I'm working on, but the other instinct of trying to look forward instead of looking down was another bad habit I had to unlearn. It's a great, fun exercise, and challenging to learn the different techniques! I want to learn the flip-turn now! Great video, great challenge, and even though I'm an OSU fan, this is something I enjoyed seeing! Cheers!

Head above water is terrible technique in pool. In sea, yes, for view, survival, and explosiveness but energy consuming while head below water is more effective in pools

I'm a swimmer and I coach swimming and I was a competitive swimmer in college and I could not do one gymnastic thing. Couldn't even think of trying it. And I wouldn't ask a gymnast to swim a lap. It's too painful to watch.

Love watching people swap sports with swimmers! I bet the swimmer went into this assuming that gymnastics was going to be pretty hard at times, and the gymnast figured that his all-around fitness might help with swimming a bit. They both did great, but it looks like the gymnast felt absolutely wrecked after the swim. Can a gymnast teach a swimmer how to do some skills pretty quickly vs a swimmer teach people in another sport how to swim efficiently? As amazing and challenging as gymnastics is, they are teaching people how to move their body. What makes swimming so hard is we have to teach people how to move the water, and that relationship with water develops with time. I hope they both keep training together because it looks like it was a lot of fun.

Another thing about swimming is that you have to have some Co2 tolerance. You just have to spend a lot of time in water.

@@seaturtle4294 almost a requirement for long axis strokes. Not so much a deal breaker for short axis strokes like breast. I was a breast stroker so being a short Oompa Loompa wasn’t nearly as disadvantageous.

Height does have advantage for a swimmer as they need to swim lesser to reach the other side but technique is still what will prevail in the end
@redwoodrider290611 ай бұрын
Honestly your technique isn't even that bad with a couple months of training you could be a threat

Definitely not. VO2 max while swimming takes years to get to 55+. Along with years of technique building.

loved this! So much fun to watch. Both could go far in each other’s sports. Fred’s backstroke was great…..and a few tutorials in breathing would get his freestyle up there. Breast and Fly are all timing. Gymnastic is all about timing and Fred would go far with a few classes. You can tell that both athletes have that competitive and risk-taking skills. Neither hesitated at any challenges. As aSwimmer the sport that freaks me out is synchronized swimming. Gymnastics moves all upside down with no air.

Well done guys, nice video! Both swimming and gymnastics are two fantastic sports and they complement each other well! It’d be interesting to know. Do you think the skills and training from gymnastic be integrated with swimming (and vice-versa) to improve performance? We think yes, but we’d like to know your opinion :)

At least when u did butterfly you got your arms out of the water. A lot of people can’t do that. They tend to look like crabs. You looked like you were just doing a messy butterfly sprint. Which 100X better than the crab 😃😂
