Back in the day this was amazing. Now it's just an immersion blender.

Ian Long was classic. My college buddy and I would stay up late after doing homework to watch Amazing Discoveries and crack up goofing on these guys.

LOL i thought the same thing. everyone was so worried about fat in the 90s. these days hearing 'fat free' food almost sounds weird. in the 2010s i feel like it was all about sugar-free food. i feel like these days it's just about 'all-natural' or like, low number of ingredients. 'simple ingredient' type foods.

When I was a kid, these shows would come up after cartoons on Saturdays. I was so innocent back then I didn't even realize that it was a commercial! This one had several competitors, most notably the Daily by Kitchenmate, There was the Fingerhut Wok from Red China, The Snakmaster that made the triangular foods, The salsa maker, and the classic mandoline slicers that went by many names.

I knew the Mr. Show "Thrilling Miracles" sketch was making fun of infomercials, but I didn't realize just how much direct influence they took from a specific infomercial until seeing this.

I bought one, not from the informercial, and was completely Underwhelmed. Skim Milk full of very very tiny Air Bubbles Tastes like Skim Milk full of Air. Great for Gas in the Intestinal Track.

The Kitchenmate...Wasn't that an infomercial with a woman who sounded like she was all coked up describing all the attachments? I remember that one, I think the host name was Kathy Mason.

So this amazing discovery is a stick blender with different attachments, now no one has ever made one of them before? (Bamix patented the first one in 1950) Plus the bloke sounds like a market seller. So not an amazing discovery, something that you could discover just by walking into any shop that sells cooking equipment. Still these infomercials are interesting to watch, more to point out the BS than anything else!
