I just bought a refurbished D7500 from Nikon and receiving it tomorrow. I've watched several D750 videos but yours has really made a difference because I shoot in Manual model and Because I do have some 1980's lenses that I can use and experiment with. Thank You, for me this was a great video, Love that Live View!

@Cynthia, just got a new D7500 in Dallas TX, congrats on your nice gift. I got the Nikkor AF-S DX 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 G ED VR lens with mine since I'll be outdoors a lot. What lens is yours? Wondering also what link is the online course you're using, is it just for the D7500 or any camera? Suggest you look at www.photogenius.com.au/photography-challenge We're in week 7 of the challenges now - lots of fun & learning a lot. Thanks, Jerol

Glad you like your new D7500. Many were disappointed when it came out - the D7200 was a legend at the time, and many figured the D7500 would be the replacement. However, I think now that the D7500 is getting some of the credit it deserves for being a great APS-C camera. All the best!

Fun video! So helpful to learn M mode can be worked easily from just the upper LCD window. Thanks for that! Say, will you be getting another D7500 after your salt water accident? I Googled pancake lens and learned it only means the lens body is very thin (travels easily). But fascinating that the 80's lenses will work on the D7500. That means there is probably 1,000 lenses that will fit my new D7500. Learned a lot from your video-thanks!

Hi, thank you for your feedback! Yes, the wonderful thing about a Nikon camera body with a built in AF motor is that you get access to glass from Nikon made the last 70 years or so. If you don't mind manual focus you can get access to some stellar pro-level glass at a fraction of the price you have to pay for new glass. I have bought a D750 to replace my bricked D7500 so I will probably stay with that, but I still miss my D7500 once in a while - the clean pictures that camera produced was simply astonishing. I think it is due to the modern EXPEED processor, but I cannot really know it for sure.

The mode dial top left should change between (a)perture priority , (s)hutter priority, etc. Assume you have tried to turn this dial? Which letter do you see top left in the viewfinder?

Thank you for the video. Why is my shutter speed significantly slower when switching to the screen display as appose to looking through the lenses at the top?
@frederikboving7 ай бұрын
Hi, using the viewfinder vs using the rear LCD in live mode should not change the exposure metering as far as I know. So you should expect the same shutter speed, unless of course you have changed the aperture or the ISO by accident.
@thebigcheese51147 ай бұрын
@@frederikboving so what I noticed is, using the live mode, the shutter speed will increase automatically if I am taking a photo in a well lit area, and decrease when it’s darker. I have the camera set to manual settings though.

@frederikboving3 жыл бұрын
Hi Srinu, I assume you are shooting in manual mode? If in manual mode, you bypass the automatic metering. You have to secure the pictures are correctly exposed - that is the point with manual mode. The cameras metering indicator shows if you are over or under exposing the images so make sure it is not pointing to "-" or "+" but stays in the middle around "0".

Sir.. can I use Nikon d7500 for wedding photography??
@frederikboving2 жыл бұрын
Yes! It is an excellent camera for all round photography and hence also weddings, assuming you are talking stills and not video. My main reservation is that the camera has only one card slot, so I recommend that you make backups of the images during the wedding. It is not fun to find out that you have a faulty SD card and all the images are gone, so find a way to back up the images (several times during the wedding) to a PC or a drive so you are sure the images are safe.
@prabathsenevirathne24942 жыл бұрын
@@frederikboving Thank you very much for your reply..💙 Yes sir.. As you said, single card slot is the biggest issue. then what do you recommend? d7500 or d7200???
@frederikboving2 жыл бұрын
I have owned the d7500 and not the d7200, but I am pretty sure they are both excellent aps-c cameras. When you are a wedding photographer you will spend hours on end with your camera and hence ergonomics is vital. It is key that the camera feels good in your hands, otherwise you will grow tired of it quickly. I remember that the d7500 has fixed "ears" for the camera straps and that bugged me as I have big hands and the "ears" were sitting where I needed to put the top of my palm. I think the d7100/d7200 is a little different. So my best advice is: see if you can borrow the camera for a few hours or just try it out in the camera shop. You will probably find out you prefer one over the other. But we are very much into personal preference territory here, so it is difficult to give some absolute advice. Hope this helps!

What is that number [ 1.3k] on the top display in the right bottom on the screen? It keeps changing from time to time. Has it to do anything with battery life?
@frederikboving4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I believe it is the number of shots that there is room for on your SD card. It is estimated based on current settings so if you go from JPGs to RAW, the number should drop as RAW take up more space.

Top left on your camera there is a mode dial. The bottom / lower part of the mode dial is the release mode dial (it is like a ring beneath the mode dial). You need to push the button top left down in order to turn the release mode dial. It is typically set at "s" for single, but if you turn it to "CL" og "CH" for continuous low or continuous high, then the camera will continue to fire as long as you hold down the shutter button. It will slow down then the buffer runs full. You can burst more JPGs before the buffer runs full than RAWs.

@frederikboving4 жыл бұрын
Hi JaaN, it is a very good camera and one you can grow with. It has automated mode so you can start there and let the camera decide the settings so you can focus on the motive. If you want a more budget friendly option, the D5600 was my first camera and I loved it! It can do much the same as the D7500 but is an older camera and hence the tech specs are not as good as the D7500, but it is definitely a good entry level camera. The only thing that annoyed me about the D7500 was the fact that the little “ears” on the side of the camera to hold the camera strap were sticking out and hitting my hand constantly - somewhat annoying if you have big hands like me. If size and weight is important to you, I would look to the Sony RX100, a remarkable point and shoot. Don’t buy the latest version as it is very expensive. Go for the M3 or one of the older ones - they have the best value. The RX100 also has some very good automated modes that lets you focus on the motive rather than the settings.

Is there a way to get the LCD to displays changes in settings during manual mode while in Live View?
@frederikboving5 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, unfortunately I ruined my D7500 as I dropped it in salt water accidentally, so I do not have a camera to test on. I would study the review by Martin Heilbron (kzbin.info/www/bejne/lYTbhat_mt-cbac) and see if he provides an answer. He does talk about it briefly 15 minutes in, but I am not sure it answers your question. My guess is that the answer is no - why would Nikon switch this off if it was readily available? But I am guessing of course. PS: Tested it on my D750, and it shows changes to e.g. aperture and shutter speed in the LCD while in live mode, and I have not done anything to set it up. Out of the box feature.

@@luisgonzales2288The resolution of video is lower than images. I think the camera therefore reduces the area of the sensor used to reduce the resolution accordingly. So the less the video resolution the worse the cropping. But I have to caveat that video is not my forte 🙂

How do I use the self pic if I want to be in the group pic?

Ok, for example, sometimes I take group pictures and I want to be in the picture with the group and there is no one else to take the picture. How do I program the camera to take pictures by itself?
@frederikboving5 жыл бұрын
@@SantosWilly Hi Santos, ok, now I get your question: There are several options. The simplest is to use the timer option, so the camera releases the timer after say 10 seconds. The dial on the top left on your camera is in two "layers". The top layer is where you select shooting mode, and the bottom layer is where you select drive mode. To turn the bottom ring you have to push the little button next to the ring down in order to unlock it. It is probably set to "S" for single, next is "Cl" and "Ch" for continuous low and high, etc. To the very right is the "Mup" option, that is for cleaning the sensor, but just before that, there is a little symbol that looks like a stopwatch. Select that one, and now your camera shutter is delayed. So you can now pres the shutter and hurry into the frame before the 10 seconds run out! (you can adjust the timer length in the menu system). The light on the front right of the camera will flash while the counter ticks down. Alternatively you can control your camera remotely via the snapbridge app. I have a video about that for the D5600, but the principles are the samefor the D7500. The advantage here is that you on your smartphone can preview the picture before you take it and that you are not under time pressure with a timer. Have a look here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIq7YoRmiq-moNk Pls let me know if this was useful.
