Did this today with a jack and two axel stands and it worked. Saved me £200. Hardest part was getting the sensor out as hands are too big and there's very little room to work with in general. Thanks for uploading the video made this easy.

Great video. I would just add, a small amount of lubricant (clean engine oil) on the sensor and o-ring will help tremendously when re-inserting it into the block.This will also help in seating the o-ring without damage.

Did mine today on my 1.7 DI combo van. It was a git to get to. Just underneath starter motor and above driveshaft. There was also a starter motor bolt right in line of the bolt (hence why I needed the 1/4 drive universal joint😟 Mine was an M10 bolt. The only way I could get to it was a 1/4 drive socket, universal joint and 100mm extension bar.... not easy at all. Very fiddly. The good news is it’s now purring like a kitten. I also changed out the EDU on back of engine ( fuel control brains). They both give same symptoms. Sending my old EDU off for repair on the eBay advert (£40.00 with lifetime warranty) Great video... very helpful

Hello bro, i have a corsa c 1.7 dti disel but it's not working good, i want your opinion about my case, before it was very speed when the "Rotation" when to 1.8 or 2.0 the turbine started working and the speed was increased to very fast, now when i drive it's going very slowly and the rotation passes 1.8 , 2.0 and more but it's not taking any effect, i changed turbine , it's still the same, i tried with new AIR SENSOR it's still the same, my question is : is there any another SENSOR that i need to change to fix this problem? Thanks!!!
@MHISD8 жыл бұрын
i have petrol corsa c 1.0 which is obviously very different engine than yours. The engine was very slow to response and sometimes it dropped the revs suddenly for a few seconds. After i changed the crankshaft sensor it's a lot better and don't have the same problems anymore. I would suggest to check the engine faults on your car first to be sure what is wrong rather than replacing everything that comes to your mind. Good luck :)
@CB-RADIO-UK8 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree with Antoan. It seems your turbo is not producing boost or perhaps the waste gate or turbo ducting is leaking pressure. Either way you are prob best to get it checked out on a rolling road. Have you tried putting this out on a Corsa forum.
@cantnotfind8 жыл бұрын
Antoan Hady, Thanks for your reply bro! i already controlled everything regarding motor mechanic and the service told me that they don't work with sensors and electricity in the vehicle, but they confirmed everything else that is ok, also turbine was tested in another car and it was working good.. i think the problem is to sensors , but i'm not sure which sensor exactly is not working because i have to order it from ebay or somewhere..

What a great video, just changed the CP sensor on my sons Corsa and this was very helpful firstly to locate the sensor and the nice tip about an 8mm ring spanner. I have the torks sockets but it difficult to get one on where the sensor is. Gave it a 4 mile test run thro town and didn't get any of the stalling at junctions he had before. The engine management light stayed on tho after the new sensor and throughout the test run , but cleared the next time I started the car. Maybe the ecu learning the CPS is now good?

Top video Fred thanks. I'm also in Somerset like the last commenter and looking to replace mine! Is this procedure the same for an astra g 1.7 dti? I don't have code 0335 but have 0370 and 0400 too. Reason I think it's maybe crank sensor is because when engine is warm and driving on very light constant throttle the car doesn't maintain a constant speed but seems to surge forward intermittently. Diesel consumption seems a little high too.

Once the engine losses its crank sensor it can throw up all sorts of codes as its totally lost.

Its a problem as they get stuck. Not much you can do other than use a pry bar to try and get it moving. What you dont want is it breaking off and dropping inside the engine. If its really stuck than it might be best to let the garage change it.

I have just replaced this but I am now having a problem with the radiator fan. When I turn the ignition on the fan starts on maximum and continues when the engine starts, I have a error code of p0115. Any help would be appreciated.
@CB-RADIO-UK9 жыл бұрын
+TomBurns94 Sounds like the thermo temp switch may have failed. The ECT (Engine coolant temperature) sensor is basically a thermistor that changes resistance with temperature. Usually a two wire sensor, a 5Volt reference from PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and ground signal to PCM. This is different from a temperature SENDER (which usually operates the dash temperature gauge and operates in a similar way as the SENSOR, only it's a different circuit than what a P0115 is referring to). As the temperature of the coolant changes, the resistance changes on the ground signal to the PCM. When the engine is cold, the resistance is high. When the engine is warm, the resistance is low. If the PCM detects a voltage condition that seems abnormally low or high, P0115 will set.

hey there , i have the diesel , i have read the fault code using the pedals and it shows P0335 (CPS ) , but the engine management light is not on all the time and the vehicle runs perfectly fine , it normally would only come on when under load , ie , going up a steep hill ..........would you suggest that the crank pos sensor is failing , if the van runs perfectly well and has done for months ?
@CB-RADIO-UK8 жыл бұрын
A P0335 fault code indeed means the crank sensor is going open circuit, on that i would change it. They normally start to fail intermittently when the engine is hot and shut down then a restart is tried. That normally triggers the engine light. If a failing sensor would put the light on under heavy load, iam not sure, that could be something else. Maybe a cheap ebay OBD 2 code reader is a good idea. Good luck

But from my obd I also have an error "P0340 camshaft position sensor "A" circuit (bank 1 or single sensor)" I am hoping the injection pump is not dying because it's worth more than the car now. Do you think the second error could be caused by the 1st one? Thanks if you can help ;)
@CB-RADIO-UK6 жыл бұрын
Yes its possible if the crank sensor has failed it might upset the Cam sensor as the CPU will have no idea where the engine has stopped. I would install the crank sensor and reset the codes and see if the EM light comes back on. If you get the 340 code again then the cam sensor is also failing.

If you are a Mechanic then the practice and stuff is very similar and it would be easier to follow and understand the theory and practical i guess. My luck i live here, i tell you. I want to get an odbc reader but i dont know which one to get. I think and believe i do have a odbd2 port.? I have been having a mysterious starting issue with my car for a long time and my mechanic says i should just ignore it. I dont like the fact that you are wearing out your starter and even though it is charged when u drive i believe the battery also gets killed. Please help with any idea if you have? I have also got posts of my scenario of my crank starting issues which might be of more help in describing my scenario. The crank sensor, i have heard of this also. My car battles to cold start. It is a mystery though because it battles to start 5-7 seconds when i leave work at night .... it starts with no accelerator but its a bad idle and then 30 seconds the idle starts getting better. (first crack scenario 1a) When i leave home though every morning, the car seems to "want to start" better ... you can hear it almost catching....if i can say that ....but then i let go of the ley and it doesnt start. (first crank scenario 1x) IF i had to do that though whilst pressing accelerator in a 2000 rpm position.... then it starts fist time. (following first crank scenario 1a)...after i have tried to start it and it fails to "catch", I now turn the key again and it tries to start but it takes like 5-7 second before it start and i seem to NEED to press accelerator also. I have had this issue say for the last 2-3 years, with i can solve it. I am not a mechanic and not really a DIY person but i have bought jack stands and a jack(jack seems to be useless though since it doesnt raise the car enough and my (tyres/tires) seem to still touch the ground). I am willing to learn theory and do some stuff on my car. I have cleaned my ICV using carb cleaner and even soap and water and leaving it to dry in the sun, I have even tried a new ICV and then i managed to get a proper throttle body spray cleaner. I have also changed my Air In take pipe and the Air sensor it comes with. I have tried 3 sensors. I have tried to play with the ICV by unplugging it from the harness and my car idles erratically so it means it work? I have also tried to take out my MAP sensor plug and my car idles erratically so i guess it means it also works. Yeh anything to try and fix this and understand this stuff, it seems that cars are simple and yet they are complex so i dont know. I guess almost like being married. LEt me know if you have ideas,, thanks.?

Intermittent faults are a nightmare so you have my sympathy. I was going to suggest the MAF sensor but you have covered that. You have a cam and crank sensor which can cause both issues. You need to get a obd reader. Also don't forget the key and imobiliser chip.

hmm not sure about key and the chip inside. When i used to service my car at the dealer before they once told me about my key and the chip inside nothing to do with a fault but they told me it was important. I dont think today i even know why. i mean my car is a 1999 car does it really matter , its surely old so i dont think we are talking abot technology like in the movie Gone In 60 Seconds,. I dont have an immobilizer. I will never buy one or even and alarm, im sure it just gives you head aches.

yeh so i one day unplugged my ICV while the car was idling or while i started it cant remember and i remember that the car didnt idle properly. Then i was experimenting and i tried the MAP sensor which on my car sits on the firewall in the middle of the car and it is connecting to the throttle body with one pipe. anyways i took it out and started the car , the car had erratic idling like high and then low and then high and then low....so i guess that part also works fine?

So then tell me, can you help me get the odbc scanner i need for my car please? i can also if you dont mind and if it okay with you ... you can maybe buy it for me and then send it to my work address in the UK ...i will pm u the details.... i can happily paypal u. Just picked it up off Ebay. Think it was about £25. Not the last word in build quality but seems to work ok.

Would solve the problem but sensor being a stubborn thing and refusing to come out!! Even after lubricating it!!!!

Yes they are tough. You have to be careful not to snap it.

@fredintheshed1 I live in somersert I'm going to attempt to do it my self😁as i just brought the part for 21.50 and I'm kinda broke 90 is a lot considering I could do it for free 😁
@CB-RADIO-UK5 жыл бұрын
Just take your time. The hard part is prising the sensor from the crank case. Just dont force it as the last thing you want is the sensor to snap or parts to drop inside the engine sump.

we put crank sensor still not start
@CB-RADIO-UK7 жыл бұрын
Re-check the fault code. A faulty cam shaft sensor gives pretty much the same non start results.

I CANNOT undo the bolt. Bought a set of torx but couldn't get it to go on square. There is something stopping it. Tried 8mm spanner. N.G. Tried long thin grips. N.G. Thinking the pigtail is blocking it, i tried uncliping but working blind. You removed the bolt with the clip in place... Ideas please!
@CB-RADIO-UK Жыл бұрын
I dont rem my bolt being too bad. Prising it out was tough though. Maybe some extra long spanners might help put more torque on the bolt. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165737722746?hash=item2696bcf37a:g:sKcAAOSwd7tjU-5p&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8P40SWZis7mQHM%2FmLlCstHBe1GMu77zLWAfMlmiKj7BUOnI4n41A965o2nNxP1VgBeg2DamBFyEU%2FdjpEHRaasWue5dGsRP%2FvTlU0nelcYKKwtWmPbvSk45OourYsEa98mgo3wzYKabStC5BlR%2BeV2fuYrbLfhTZEqwgV5sz7ZTlXaKv7BYeugPAiTXqHmVNqL%2FHS9gPSZ4KUwwxaSqYmAF0tCay11REOcE1JbVdDD6jHllQ9k75DnwDp8eaT35nOGRg0GYJvtv8%2BSrFAESeP3hGc9pm0741Sd7mr%2Fp8cAgnB5buY%2BliiMRyHo8VjxWv7g%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR5T85YafYg

@@CB-RADIO-UK Thank you for replying, and so quickly. I've had a look at the link which I'll bear in mind for the future. I wonder who has used them for what. In fact it's not leverage that's the problem, rather that I couldn't get anything to fit down over the head. But, I went and looked for another 8mm ring, and I think the ring was thinner. Anyway, it went over and fit with a little pressure and the bolt came free. Equally nice, with a long thin electronics screwdriver I got a foothold then pushed in a broad cup (??) car upholstery tool and it just levered up. (I say all this in case it helps s.o. else.) Thanks again.
