Hey WBSim has a great steam gauge 172. Still has the Center stack GPS's, but it's a ton of fun to go DME to DME or ADF. Love it.

I’ve had MSFS for almost two months now, and I’m loving it so far. I’m somewhat disappointed in the lack of freeware airliners aside from the FBW A32NX and Headwind A339, hopefully we get more soon. Seems like projects get started and then abandoned 😢

Great video as usual. The Grand Caravan mod has been taken over by someone new but it interferes with the steam gauged Caravan so I have to leave it out. Hopefully in the future, it won't. I'm surprised, Overkill, that you don't fly the steam gauged Caravan and King Air. I'd thought that would be right up your alley.

Downloaded a few of the freeware planes, and after installation, each time I plan a flight, the aircrafts ( all of them including those in the original MSFS directory ) appears more then 50 feet above the runway, and then buries itself in the runway upside down. Has anyone else experienced this type of issue ???

The WB-Sim 172SP Classic Enhancement (justflight) is IMO the best addon for the Classic c172 in MSFS and is available for a very good price - the flight Model and Performance is very near to the real plane

Its not Freeware but the WBSim 172 is pretty amazing for the Analog 172. Would love to see something like the REX 172 for Xplane come to MSFS

I have tried a bunch of the Osobo default aircraft mods and find them to be slightly better than stock, but still unrealistic. As an example, the C172 (and its mods) feels overly stable, so much so that the when attempting a power on stall it hangs on the prop in the stall. If performing a power on stall with no rudder input, the resulting spin does not feel very realistic, takes longer to occur and in some circumstances spins in the wrong direction. What I mean by by "stable" is that the C172 has long thin wings. This means that in certain scenarios it is not as stable as lets say a PA28. The low wing, "Hershey bar" bar wings makes the aircraft more stable and harder to spin. Harder to spin means harder to recover from the spin. Not to say that these aircraft are terrible, its just what you expect from freeware. You get what you pay for. That is why I cannot wait for A2A to start deploying their aircraft for MSFS. Their C172 and Comanche were the most realistic GA aircraft for P3D and FSX. It is the only aircraft I would use to practice instrument procedures and and maneuvers at home. But to say any of these free GA aircraft are realistic in any sense of the word is an overstatement. I would also say a lot of the payware aircraft in the simulator store are unrealistic as well. Not all freeware is worked on like the FBW A320NX. Not all payware companies pay attention to realism in systems and flight dynamics like Fenix, PMDG and A2A. Also, the simulator itself needs to grow more in the flight dynamics department as well. I would love to see Osobo abandon "World Updates" for a year and spend that time developing and improving weather modeling and flight dynamics. Then maybe the use of the word "realistic: would be more suitable. Just my option.

I deleted the baron and downloaded the updated version now I cannot get it into my community folder It won't show up in The aircraft selection page I've tried it 10 times

Requires an extra step. Once you unzip it, open the folder and inside is a folder starting with the letters mge. Put that in your community folder and you're set.

I have attempted to use add-ons linker in the past but am having trouble with it, do you have an installation guide?

To install 1. Install it 2. Create a new folder where you want to store all the add-ons (you can add subfolders for organizational purposes in any form) 3. Tell addons linker where this new folder is and where the community folder is. To use: 1. Start add-ons linker before starting msfs 2. Switch add-ons on that you want to use in your session. Turn off others that you don't need. 3. Close it 4. Start msfs 5. Fly

@@adamgunn2885 In a flight simulator (emphasis on simulator) yes I would expect them to have the flight models accurate and not need to go look for a mod.

@@jumbonadPretty irrelevant to the current convo but think MSFS has done more for the community more than xplane, it’s not their fault since Microsoft is rich as hell but still they provide some decent aircraft for free like the A310 and the spruce goose for example along with more updates.

@@DoneRegularly I truly do love MSFS but as someone who's spent thousands of $ on it and had an IRL airplane before it got too expensive. I just have some frustration built up because of the resources Microsoft has and yet day one planes still need mods to be accurate.
