Thanks Jeff for this phantastic instruction! I want to add a litte thing: not necessary to work on the samples in Kontakt any more - simply save your work in Maschine 2 as Project (as described by you) and copy the Project file with the samples on the Maschine+ SD card. Open it as a Project in Maschine+ and simply save it as "Sound". It works!!!

FYI: MPC Beats software saves the auto samples with .WAV extension (note the all caps!). These files are NOT recognized by Maschine+. You must rename them with .wav extension (note all lowercase!). Google for ways to do this quickly in Windows 10. Once renamed, these can be transferred to the Maschine+ and used in your Zones in the Sampler. This took me a while to figure out why Maschine+ was not seeing samples I moved to the User Content folder, even after refreshing the list. Now that you have the Maschine+, an update to this video showing a method of using the Maschine+ in standalone to setup autosampled instruments would be great. Also, review HOW to move samples to Maschine+ and WHERE to put them. Thanks!

Just watched this one for the first time; great overview of the process. It is particularly nice capturing not just hardware like your DW-8000, but especially modular and semi-modular (like Moog Matriarch) devices with no patch storage since everything is manually set every time. The relatively easy means of capturing and then adding/mapping velocity layers is a real godsend. In addition it makes it easy to map slightly to very different sounds to velocity layers then play with velocity (either live or specific values per step in a sequencer) during a loop playback of the samples. Also, it is fairly straightforward to set up to capture multiple relatively short evenly spaced source sounds per sample for "slice" style playback later. Add layers to that for a "matrix" you can address with two MIDI CC's at the same time (or CV) to easily explore different sounds during a repeating beat type loop. (Ideally recording that exploration to another track to capture magic moments you stumble on...)

When you're a Logic Pro X user, you can use the autosampler function in version 10.5. It records the samples (both hardware and software synths) and creates a sampler instrument out of the samples

Just a point I wanted to add to your video. I downloaded MPC Beats a few weeks ago. The "Tube Synth" and "Electric" plugins have some really sweet presets and great tones, as far as plug ins go. If you load MPC Beats as a plugin inside of the Maschine software, you can drag and drop the midi and audio recorded in an MPC Beats project, much like you can from Maschine. So, if you really like the sound of the MPC plugins and want them in another DAW, or maschine itself, it has that same "drag and drop" functionality. Jus' sayin'! P.S. - Check out the "Piano Case - Wet" preset in the Electric plugin. It sounds amaze-ballz!

Excellent video Jef! I do have a question though. How do I properly transfer my created sounds to my Maschine+? I copied the sounds I created to the "Sounds" folder and the folders with the wav files to the "Samples" folder in Maschine+ and I get the dreaded "Missing samples" prompt on the Maschine+ screen. Thanks in advance!!!!

10:53 one cal see on the waveform that the beginning of the loop falls on a high area and the end is on a quiet moment. So clearly there will be an obvious jump which we can hear. I guess if you move the end of the loop a little bit earlier where there is a small peak to match the volume of the loop start, the transition would be better even without xfade

Another excellent video, Jef. What I'm curious about is why you might want to invest in Maschine+... since it will not support third-party synth plugins... and multi-sampling ALL of your 3rd-party stuff, and your hardware synths... isn't it a bit redundant? MK3 does everything you need it to, including 3rd party plugin support... and even controlling your external hardware synths. As much of a NI fanboy as I am... I honestly am not digging the announcement of Maschine+. Especially seeing the benchmarks Blezz and Loopop recently did.... it can handle a decent amount, but also, it can't. Y'know? That said, MPC Beats IS awesome. It's what hooked me into the Akai ecosystem. I then bought a used MPC Studio black, then MPC One. There are a ton of benefits of having and using both Maschine and MPC together, in a home studio. NI people will hate me for saying that, and Akai people will, too. But, the best of both worlds is truly both worlds.

Amazing video man, thanks! It does boggle my mine as to why Native Instruments haven't baked autosampling into Maschine as well, but moreover it makes me wonder why Kontakt is lagging behind in it's design and functionality! It has become seriously outdated from an instrument creators point of view which is a shame, they need to adopt a UI much more similar to Maschine and turn creator tools into an actual visual editor rather than just scripting shortcuts!
@bright11804 жыл бұрын
Another great video Jef! A bit off topic, but have you found a workaround for the lack of note sound when scrolling up and down the maschine key editor? It makes it so hard for me to sequence because I can’t quickly hear the pitch of the notes I might want to insert.

Jef, great stuff, thank you for sharing Ave's video. I used this method to export drum one-shots and it works fantastic. Now the challenge is how to remove silence from the end of the samples? All WAV files have the same length (I didn't want to cut cymbals) and kick samples are way too long / big on disk. How to trim silence at the end of WAV files automatically?

Awesome vid, but desperately need a follow up! I’ve created a sampled instrument on my computer, but CANNOT figure out how to get it on the Maschine+. I put the sound and samples in the sounds folder on the SD card. It will find the “sound” on the M+ hardware, but says it can’t find samples. It is still referring to the file path from my computer. Help?!?
@Overdose1404 жыл бұрын
Probably when you used the sample program you should go to settings and lower the buffer size to lower the latency before you record. The software still has to send out a midi note and it could just be lagging. Just a thought.

Be sure to give SampleRobot a chance. Definitely the best in autosampling stuff, hardware and software synths: www.samplerobot.com. The resulting loops sound way better than the ones from MPC (saying this as a MPC user by heart) and it exports all known sampler formats. The Renoise tracker does also have a nice multisampler included: www.renoise.com. Still, both aren't free, so that's the plus for MPC Beats.

Jef, i'm usually with you & cherish the info you present (yes, i'm subscribed to your channel)... But, i got the MPC Live earlier in the year.. & didn't like it .. because this standalone required that you do that "autosampling" to get other VSTs, or Expansions to work in it.. & the way that it works, is not truly fully functional. You get the sounds, yes (which is great if you're sampling sounds from Hardware).. But you loose a lot of other things that were put under the hood of those VSTs & Expansions. So i stayed on the NI Maschine side, & the MPC Live have been sitting in the nice new pretty case i bought for it.. waiting to be sold. NOW, Maschine puts out the Maschine +.. & again, to get our other special ingredients in it.. i would need to take a trip, & revisit that MPC Autosampler... Hahaha Not for $1,400/i feel like that's paying to devolve, and go backwards (not evolve), what's the benefits of doing that? ... Again, I'll stay with my MK3 & enjoy being Fully loaded.!!!! (BTW - i had one of those Korg Poly 800s back in the day.. you got it for $75.. Wow.. Great deal).

Hey, it sounds like you already made up your mind on MPC vs Maschine, but if you want to get the expansions drum kits on your MPC Live then I highly recommend taking a look at kit-maker. It'll make .xpm programs for your MPC using the Maschine Drum Kits. You do lose out on the patterns and of course the synth parameters from Massive, Monarch etc., but it at least did make the MPC Live a lot more enjoyable to me, coming from Maschine
