@@growingoutthebox Okay, thank you, really appreciate that emphasis on soil PH. Will get out my testing kit. I am wondering if I plant them in our alkaline to neutral soil if I can keep the soil around their roots acidic enough. Strange that we have some blueberries that are native and yet, we sit on a calcium based aquifer, it is why down in South Florida you hardly ever come across dandelions.

Have you ever tried taking a piece of steel and putting it in water like a 5 gallon bucket of water until it turns rusty and water turns black. Use that on your tomato plants and your greens. If you want to see bright orange or bright red tomatoes and bright green greens.
@growingoutthebox
@growingoutthebox 6 ай бұрын
On the basis of the research results,the researchers recommend not to use an iron rust solution as fertilizer because of ion(Fe3+)that not dissolved in water(chemistry book grade12)so the plant tissues cannot absorbed it and closes the soil pores (Jubouri,2018).

@growingoutthebox
@growingoutthebox 10 ай бұрын
Hard to say but my uneducated guess would be soil deficiency. Do you have them planted directly in soil? Is your soil neutral or may be alkaline? If your soil is alkaline, no matter what fertilizer you use that plant will not be able to uptake it. Soil acidifier can help but takes time. You may want to dig it up and replant using 50% peat, 25% mini pine bark nuggets and 25% compost. I fertilize with cottonseed meal early spring and late summer.

I grew my dragonfruit from a cutting U bought on ebay and it's doing very well. I didn't have to use hormone because of how prolific dragonfruit are, but I like your hormone recipe I have all those things already in my house, an aloe plant (yes get rid of that yellow stuff!). You just cut the dragon fruit piece off and let it dry for about a week, then you put it in the soil and it'll root on it's own. I did this with a cactus piece. I just put it in some soil and it grew roots in a few weeks. Now it's getting some flowers. Thanks for sharing the specifics of your soil. I'll have to try the alfalfa. They grow oyster mushrooms in that in my club. Alfalfa and newspaper. Lemme know if you want me to send you a piece of dragonfruit cutting (I have some already with roots) for you to grow. I grow it indoors under lights in a hot room.

Thank you so much for the offer of the dragon fruit. It gets too cold to grow them here. I have a few banana plants that I move around during the winter and I am second thinking that. I only want to grow what is meant to grow in my area. This is one of the reasons my garden does so well. Thank you again for the offer. I have never tasted dragon fruit.

They all have similar properties. Aloe is beneficial for root development, cell strength, and overall plant growth. Honey has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties which protects the cuttings from pathogens and stimulates the natural rooting hormones in the cutting. Cinnamon powder works similar to honey. It also has anti-fungal properties, which protects form fungal issues like damping-off disease and help stimulate root growth to your cuttings.

@growingoutthebox
@growingoutthebox 10 ай бұрын
I use peat and perlite for my seedling mix. I have never tries to root with it. Not to say it can't be done. I use sand because it gives great drainage yet allows for very small pockets of air in the medium. Perlite give much better air pocket. In my opinion, to much air can take away from good contact to the cutting. That's just my uneducated opinion.😁

Why do you mix the compost into the peat moss? Why don’t you continue to use a peat sand mixture as soil and put the compost on top?
@growingoutthebox
@growingoutthebox 4 ай бұрын
Peat and pine nuggets provideo no nutrients. They are acidify which the bush needs to be able to uptake the nutrients. The compost adds life to the mix with microbes and fungi. The roots grow like fungi so when the intertwine the bush has more access to water because the fungi will reach further than the root zone.

Not sure if N.O. Is out of the cold season but I personally would not plant right now. I would wait until early spring. Planting now would surely serious damage or worse to your bush if there is another frost. I would suggest waiting.

If not how deep should my oots be for them? Really hoping w/every fiber of my being to move to some remote land this yr finally esp with neighbors on all sides using Roundup

Hello again. I have blueberries that i grow in containers. I dont know when to prune or if its too soon. The weather is so up and down. Its cold one or 2 days then temps raise in the 70s. My blackberries are green like its spring. Only a few fall leaves on them. Should i leave blueberries out in the cold or move when temps drop in 30s. Should i prune .They are going into their second year. Also do you raise figs? I don't see figs in your videos or i haven't came across one. I love figs and i have gotten on the fig wagon big time. Again i love your video's so informing and sooo helpful. Thanks for your channel. Love the homemade root stimulator. Can't wait to try.

Hey Felicia. Thanks for the question. If your blueberry plants are only 2 years old you don't want to prune just yet. Pruning usually is in the 4th year. As far as temperatures, blueberries need chill hours to fruit so I would not take them in. Just maybe plase the close to a structure to protect from wind. I do have figs and they don't like the cold as much as blueberries so I do protect my figs during the winter. I have had my figs die back to the ground for the past 3 years so this year I have mini greenhouses for them.

Hey Neecee.... It's that easy. Starting out you want to make sure you get the newest growth. This year growth. Should be green or a pretty autumn red this time of the year. Black berries and raspberries are even eaisier. Just cut off some of the new growth and stick it in the ground or simply lay a branch still attached to the bush on the ground and place soil on top. Place something on top of the soil to keep it from moving. Those root pretty fast.

Rooting hormone as toxic as label suggests? Can't use for edibles? For any skin contact, the warning label on my rooting powder suggests flushing under running water for 20 minutes. And for accidental inhalation, they recommend the emergency room. Is this stuff really that toxic? Yes. Rooting hormone contain known carcinogens. Not advisable for edibles... or smokables like tomatos... wink wink.
