Thanks for showing the access to this great area. I've probably passed a lot of free camping between Sturgis and Flagstaff, because I'm towing a 34' Fifth wheel with a large custom made cargo rack on the back that doesn't fold up. The few sites I've found were only because I paid to camp somewhere close and check them out before possibly getting jammed up needing a winch out. We were just up at canyon Lands National park I went down to the Thelma and Louise jump off. Nobody should ever try to pull a trailer down there! Even though I did find a Truck Driver somehow got lost and took the switchbacks getting permanently stuck and having to disconnect the trailer.

Ken, so glad this review as helpful for you. You are absolutely correct about Canyonlands. We made a day trip over to the park from when we were camped out near Moab. The Thelma and Louise location is a servious off road adventure. Safe Travels and hope you make it out here to Capitol Reef.- Kyle

Thanks for the visual review. One thing your missing on your review is if our smart car can make it up dirt road...lol. Good job on video.

Good point! I'll be sure to get the smart car info in to the next video... Keep an eye out of a review of camping near Petrified Forest in a couple weeks.

You will love it here, this is a great spot for a rig that size for sure. You're going to have a lot of options both in the area we're at and on the other side because I don't imagine the one wash crossing would be much of a problem with a rig that size.

@@travelwiththeoneyoulove Yes, Capital Reef is the last one of the Big 5 that we needed to make it to. If you get a chance, add cedar breaks National monument to your list as well. When you're in the area. It's as nice as Bryce with almost no crowd

Thanks for subbing! and of course binge watching... Visited Vancouver Island when I was about 15. My dad grew up in Port Angeles, WA and if you ever get over there check out the community pool. It is named in honor of my grandfather. Used to be called The William Shore Memorial Pool but now known as the Shore Aquatic Center.

That was going to be my next area after a few summers around Duck Creek Village to Brian Head. I ended up skipping it to the Cortez area. After seeing this I think I might very well check it out next spring. Thanks for the excellent tour!

Hi guys, Well, we made it through the wash with the rig ..... of course we haven't made it back out yet 😂 What a beautiful area!!!! Any recommendations for a dump station? Your video was spot on as usual. We went right and easily found a spot, even on Memorial Day weekend. Road to the left is pretty crowded. Still room between them, but about 30 I can see from the hill we're near. Back here is very spaced out, good cell signal & surprise surprise, 35 OTA channels! Thanks for all the great tips on the area. Safe travels ❤

So glad it was helpful for you, we ended up taking our rig into the park and dumped at fruita campground. I think there is a five or $10 fee. If I remember correctly. You can also get water there too. I don't know of any other spots for dumping. Glad you guys were able to get through that wash. I wasn't sure but obviously if you did with a bigger vehicle than us people should be good.

Seen you two on a LivingOurDreamNow video. We love free camping however we ride motorcycle and sometimes getting into the free locations can be a challenge. So we are mainly looking at the road conditions when watching camp reviews. Great job new sub

Hello, thank for this awesome detailed video, can you tell if I turn right after the cattle guard, will I be able to turn around at the end of the road if there are not any sites left?
@thewanderingshores
@thewanderingshores 2 ай бұрын
Yes you can! there is plenty of space back that way to turn around. The biggest concern is dragging if you are a bigger rig, however our friends did make it back there with a GD Momentum (about 38ft) but they had a little tail drag on the way out.

Thanks for the video! We will be renting a van and camping in that area. What is the accessibility of firewood? Can you find much laying around that is legal to gather? Or do locals sell it?
@thewanderingshores
@thewanderingshores Жыл бұрын
Thanks Joey for taking the time to comment and watch. You're going to love that area. Regarding the firewood, I'm not really sure as we have a pellet fire pit. But I do recall seeing people along the main road towards the park and into town selling firewood at their homes. So I don't think you're going to have a problem getting any. Have a blast at Capital reef and we are looking forward to going back again and exploring some more next summer. - Kyle
