I have made my own headers in the past with much success. I wish the engine builders would give us a little more meat between the exhaust studs. Would make things so much easier. Really like the music… keep the content coming. Thanks for sharing!

There is not much room for sure. I am going to redo this manifold with some thinner wall tube and I hope I can find something with a slightly smaller OD. Almost anything is an improvement over the stock manifold and muffler.

@@DIYWilly Thanks, I appreciate that. This is a pretty straight forward go kart build from a bare frame by someone that has never owned a go kart. I have a Chinese two stroke bicycle board track racer, a Wheel Horse garden tractor, and a Plymouth Valimino hot rod that will be getting some air time once the kart is done. I am on the hunt for a motorcycle project too,

Good stuff! About the only way to get a decent header or exhaust these days is to make it yourself. The ready made headers I've bought lately all required "fitting" as the flanges are wrong. Briggs headers I started out brazing them with a brass rod, but I had a few break off kart racing so I switched to mig welding and they held up. If you're not going to be bumping around on a rough track brazing should work. I'm terrible at mig welding even when I had a decent shielding gas welder, now I've got a flux core cheapie and I'm even worse with it. LOL Great video keep it coming!

Thanks, I intend to keep making them, I even have another project lined up, a board track style Chinese two stroke bicycle. This exhaust is so short and the muffler is pretty light, hopefully it won't break. Unfortunately KZbin got me on this one, it sent out notifications yesterday but the video did not release til today, oh well.

At least they did better with the 224 muffler. It has a 7/8" inlet ID. You can remove a little more for a slightly larger inlet. Mine is going on my near stock 196. The 224 will get a header pipe.

Hi, new sub here. Yesterday I was fitting a hemi Predator 212 to my old rototiller and had to remove the muffler to fit the motor to the tiller chassis. I saw that huge step down from the D shaped exhaust port to the muffler flange and about died laughing. I won't modify the one on my tiller but sure will on my cyclekart build. I'll bet there's close to a horsepower extra to be had in a 1" pipe and a jet change.

It is crazy how small that pipe is they could have easily made it big enough to fit the port. I have a 420 predator on my wheel horse garden tractor and I made a manifold for it to improve flow and it also runs a open air cleaner with a bigger jet in the carb.

So that's what the horrible squealing sound coming from the shop was 🤣

I was totally silent in the shop. I would never run a disk or angle grinder while my wife was trying to sleep.
