This is a great video. Super nice job on the port match, tips and an excellent explanation. Much respect Sir!

It is made by Clamptite, they come in a couple of sizes. Can i put a PWK carburetor on a stalk 212 predator with the governor
@finkbuilt2 жыл бұрын
How are you feeling about the vm26? I bought one, but have not put it on yet. What would be a good baseline pilot and main jet to start tuning with on a 212 with a pipe and 30deg timing?
@WhatIsTheWheel2 жыл бұрын
I like it. I just started it with the jets that are in it so I will check and reply below. I think it is a little rich right now. It had the the float height set wrong and may be getting to much pressure so that may be causing my rich problem. The motor spools up to 8900rpm no problem although I would not do that with the stock flywheel and rod
@finkbuilt2 жыл бұрын
@@WhatIsTheWheel I see. No problem. I'll just have to go through the whole tuning rigamarole. ;). BTW, I just opened mine up and it has a 190 main in it. That seems big.

I see some old Honda wheels hanging up in the background. Are you building a cycleKart by chance?
@WhatIsTheWheel2 жыл бұрын
Good eye! I have one planned. You might be able to see some 1x3 box steel in the background to. Still trying to decide what I what car I want for inspiration. I love the old track Ts and the Cooper formula 3 is a good choice to. But I really love rat rods and I have a Bradley two wheel tractor hood that would be an amazing start to a kart.

Could you run one of these carbs on a snowblower or mower?
@WhatIsTheWheel Жыл бұрын
You would have to bypass the governor so it would not be a great idea. There are some "stock" style carbs out there with more adjustability and a larger bore, if that is what you need.

WHY such a big carb without a decent port job? it is still hobbled by the intake hole... 25mm MINUS the 5mm valve stem... x .85 (85% max flow velocity with nicely ported head)... so we do the math on that and it ends up being abt 17mm or .690". the stock carb i read somewhere is .570" thru the venturi... stock carb can be hogged out/e bay .650" carb for daily driver... they also have a .690 stock bored carb but directions read... mostly for ALL OUT RUNNING as the flow velocity suffers at lower RPM's... fuel falls out of suspension and puddles on port wall/floor and makes the motor doggy at low RPM's? in transition from idle jet to main jet. it runs on idle jet for the bottom 40% of the throttle? then over to main jet. at high altitudes over, 2000... 3000'..., need LESS fuel as there is LESS AIR to mix the fuel with so no matter what amt of gas pour into it, it cant burn it and it just goes out the tailpipe as pollution. want light tan plug, not BLACK/soot plug from unburned gas... NOT WHITE, tooooo lean, runs well... runs TOOOOO HOT as gas cools the fire of combustion (counter intuitive, i know) and piston/rings/cyl swell up and scores them ruins them and it is a smoker with low compression/power... needs new ... piston/rings/cyl... motor as cost of overbore is more than motor is worth. id love to get the BIG VALVE 32/28mm head off e bay but... again... lots of port work and ... with stock intake port even hogged out... cant get enuf air thru it to justify the cost of big valve head? other site welds on BIG intake ports to the head... BIG and that is for all out racing and im sure not cheap, but lots of work goes into the head to port it and weld a new BIG intake on it.

Maybe a Weber sidedraft with velocity stacks, that would be pretty cool. But it would need at least another 100 cubic inches

intake valve hole is the impediment to any carb. 25mm hole MINUS 5mm valve stem x .85 (85% MAX flow velocity) is ... 17mm so no matter how much fuel dump into it it just cannot use it. the big carb is ok for HIGH elevations where air is thin thin thin and need as much air as can get into it, still hobbled by 25mm valve stem MINUS 5mm stem x .85 =17mm just need to put smaller jet into the carb to get the air fuel ratio right for light tan plug, not black (TOOOO MUCH GAS/not enuf air) not white (TOOOO LEAN, runs well, runs TOOO HOT, piston/rings/cyl expand too much and scores piston/rings/cyl and it is a smoker... low compression... used up needs rebored as it ran toooo hot without fuel to cool the fire of combustion.

@@gmcinnis6304 One thing to remember is that the area of the valve is not a hole when it is open. It is more of a slot. The area for fuel and air to pass is calculated with the circumference of the valve and the amount of lift. With a 27mm intake valve you have circumference of 85mm. The lift of the Mod2 cam is 5.7mm. This gives an area of 484 square mm. The area of the venturi in the VM26 is 530 square mm, so the carb is sized pretty close.
