Fun fact: Chris Evans' "Pay" for the cameo in this movie was a cup of coffee (you can see him drinking it during the cameo.)
@Justsomeguy898515 күн бұрын
Not true unfortunately. Actors guild rules dictate a minimum rate that an actor must be paid. Brad Pitt's "free" cameo in Deadpool 2 is the same.. I think the minimum actors guild pay is like 100 or 1000 bucks. Edit: Minimum Actors guild pay is 783 per day or 2,717 per week.

One of my favorite movies of the last decade. Great concept, brilliant and hilarious execution, and an awesome cast. I've been a fan of Ryan Reynolds since the '90s, but he has a nearly-perfect track record for the past several years (and I love it when he pops up in random cameos, much like Channing Tatum). Also, I'm pretty sure my neighbors heard my reaction to the Avengers / Star Wars bit the first time I watched this, and it still gets me amped. Cheers and Happy Weekend to Kaiielle, and to all Y'all out there. 🥃🖖

Hi Kaiielle, Glad to watch your reaction to free guy it's my favorite Ryan Reynolds movie. My favorite part is the captain of America and the lightsaber scene. Also to let you know the person that Millie shot at the beginning that was Hugh Jackman himself and Ryan who shot the guy with a shotgun in the store that was Dwayne Johnson himself. Yeah shocking and surprising isn't it. And Jodie she is amazing love her so much . I look forward to seeing you react to Ryan's movie deadpool and Wolverine someday !!❤💛

Thank you, Kaiielle, as always, for the watch. I enjoyed this movie. I'm not a gamer. Never have been. Back in the 80's, I tried to play Williams' Defender, but I was never any good at it. (No eye hand coordination, which is ironic because I play piano, and am a calligrapher. Well... I used to be. Got old. It happens.) My son, the Marine, loves the video games. And, he's always trying to get me to play... but, being as terrible with the controllers as I am, it's difficult to get into any of the games. So... yeah, that's not one of the things we've ever been able to share. So, instead, we watch movies. That's our thing. And, I'm pretty sure it was the Bud who recommended this to us. And, it's fun. I don't know any of the references (but, I understand that there are real gamers or reactors that have cameos, which I guess if you're in that world, you'd recognize and enjoy their presence. I'm guessing... once. But, that's just me. I do enjoy Ryan Reynold's movies. So, this was a fun addition. (I also enjoyed The Adam Project. Still Ryan Reynolds, but in a different kind of setting.) Well... Happy New Year! I hope you're having a wonderful year, so far! And, I hope you not only continue to enjoy reacting to movies, and playing games, but also being out there in the real world. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop every so often to look around, you might miss it! (Seems like I heard that somewhere... Hmmm...) Well, thank you, again, as always, for the watch. And, I shall look forward to whatever comes next!

Great reaction like always love this movie. Little fun fact: the guy handing info to Molotov Girl is Hugh Jackman and the bank robber is The Rock, Dwayne Johnson. Ryan got so many little cameos for this. In a interview, Ryan said they were all filming in Canada and he heard that Chris Evans was in town. So called Chris and asked if he could do a cameo and he agreed. Ryan rounded up a small filming crew, went to Evans' location and had the shot in 10 minutes. The 2 little girls that drop the hilarious line “he’s just an NPC waste that mother f’er?” are the director daughters. They must’ve loved this role that they can say (or act like they’re saying) cuss words and not get in trouble. Keep up the good work.

I'm so glad Shawn Levy got to direct this, it really catapulted him up there. He had done movies here and there nothing of worth imo until 2011's Real Steel and directing/producing on Stranger Things but now he's in Disney's favour with Deadpool & Wolverine and he's working on the final season of ST, he got his own Star Wars movie in the works and Real Steel is getting a Disney+ series, a possible Free Guy sequel and let's be honest D&W is getting a sequel, it made over a billion. A lot of KZbin critics/influencers didn't like this movie when it released but it has so much heart and comedy, it baffled me they shrugged it off as another "Ryan Reynolds movie".

One game that always kinda gets me in the feels is an RTS called Homeworld. It's actually a series of games, but in the first one, the story is just awesome. You find out your people are exiles to a barren world, and have forgotten their past. When you rediscover it and try to return home, the ones who exiled you DESTROY everyone living on that barren world. It's...rough. But there are also uplifting moments...like when you deal with the space traders, the Bentusi, for the first time... "We are the Bentusi, and we welcome you among the spacefaring cultures, the Unbound." "All that moves, is easily heard in the void. We will listen for you. Farewell."

Shawn Levy the director and Ryan Reynolds met because Hugh Jackman recommended them together. When Hugh and Shawn did Real Steel back in 2011, he told Shawn that if he ever met Ryan, he would never stop working with him. And sure enough, after Free Guy they made The Adam Project and most recently Deadpool & Wolverine. Also there is a Hugh Jackman, John Krasinski and Dwayne Johnson cameos that are a bit less obvious

Some have wondered how, if "there's no button for that" Millie managed to kiss Guy later on. Guy, obviously, could do it because he's part of the game and can do anything that could be done within the bounds of the code. But, since the game wasn't built to allow that, his code would've still had to essentially hack the game to make it possible. Basically, he accidentally hacked a new emote into the game. So, now EVERYONE can do it...if they can find it. That's what Millie later uses to kiss him to jog his memory. (I'm sorry Inigo, I didn't mean to jog him so hard)

Dude will never improve. Technically, he's built on the same foundation as the others, but because Antwan and the rest of the "art nerds" didn't really understand what they were working with, he is fundamentally just a slightly more advanced conventional NPC you'd find in any other game. He can be "finished" at some point, but he'll never learn and grow like the rest. That won't really matter to anyone else in Free Life, but it would mean he'll never really be one of them. He's still a regular NPC in a world full of digital players (and real players). Thankfully for him, the world he exists in isn't about exploitation of that fact.

I am wondering if the 1star reviews were people getting irritated that, "streamers", were in it. I could see a segment of people being very offended by it. I agree with your assessment of the movie it was fun, nice, funny but, doesn't really have anything that would draw me back in to watching it again and I haven't since release.
@kaiielle15 күн бұрын
I can't remember now, but that wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. I know lots of people look down on streamers pretty heavily.
@itt23r15 күн бұрын
Don't know if you've seen it but this movie is a blatant rip-off of the Jim Carrey movie THE TRUMAN SHOW from 10 years earlier. Nevertheless, I like this version of that basic storyline a lot better,
@mizrolist12 күн бұрын
Actually... Truman Show is 25 years older than Free Guy (it was released in 1996).
@NativeNewMexican15 күн бұрын
I truly enjoyed Free Guy and consider it to be one of the best comedies of the year... BUT I hated the following: too much streamer crap, the "blah blah patriarchy" SJW crap, the "I'm a bad guy, but I'm completely not scary", and the "making money is bad... we should all be commies in happy happy world" mentally defective "moral" of the story. Three of my four gripes are the same criticism: Movie makers need to stop inserting their real world crap into the story and just tell the effing story. Free Guy is a love story with a VR gimmick and a "this game will go away in X days so will they/won't they" conflict. How many modern movies/shows suffer from the "I'm putting real world crap in here" and "I'm going to make a villain that's not scary" stupidity? Far, far too many.
@kaiielle15 күн бұрын
That's fair. I feel the opposite - I like when stories involve "real world crap". 😅 But I don't require all of my entertainment to feel like an escape.
@NativeNewMexican14 күн бұрын
@@kaiielle Most of my entertainment isn't escapist, sorry I wasn't clear on that. I want my _romance_ _comedies_ to be funny & romantic and not preachy. I want "In the Heat of the Night" to be preachy because it's a "F you" to the baddies. Even the commentary from the mom in JoJo the Rabbit wasn't misplaced.
@NativeNewMexican9 күн бұрын
@@kaiielle I just realized that there's a perfect movie for your preference. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish incorporates a good bit of "real world crap" into a fantastical scenario and I guarantee you'll love it. To be honest, I loved it too so I suppose I should recalibrate my language for what bugs me. Anyway, put it to your patrons and see if it hits, I promise it's a winner for your view count and your soul.
