The Polaris Indy Sport 340cc dirt snowmobile returns! This Snowmoquad, as it is called, is a Polaris 340cc 2 stroke snowmobile converted to run on the dirt. The front snowmobile skis were replaced by wheels and tires, and it uses the same factory track in the rear. Today, we revive the Snowmoquad and race it around the CarsandCameras Grand Prix, then we bring it to Mini Mayhem to return it to it's original owner!
Thanks for Watching!

@@richardperrin9374I totally agree, I do this same exact stuff with little engines toys like go carts, mini bikes or motorized bicycles lol. But I tore down my first engine to like a 60 something Corvair that have been parked for 30 years behind my dad's Barn when he lived in Augusta Texas in the mid-90s , it was left there from the previous owners but I asked him if I could mess with it, and I was around 11 or 12 and grabbed his toolbox and sockets and went back there and learned that the car was weird cuz the engine was in the back LOL but I tore that motor halfway down and got the Pistons moving put it back together and it ended up running and I was allowed to drive it around the red dirt roads that went on for miles out in East Texas, so that's also when I learned how to drive a stick shift can't remember if that was the three on the tree or what it was prayer but anyway I've been messing with car engines and all that my whole life I never went to school on that, not ASE certified but I don't really let anybody touch my cars most of the newer ones don't know how to really do a good diagnostic they completely rely on computers and I have a 1990 Ford F-150 with the 5 L with a 5-speed that has 312,000 original miles and it's never even had the heads off. And it's transmission is original, it's a little tiny bit sloppy but overall not bad considering the mileage, it's just fine no grinding no whining and it blows cold AC in my face and hot heat up my feet and it's completely 100% reliable and everything works even the cruise control so you'd be surprised with some people might know I loved it anyways but I really had to learn it cuz I was a single parent for 20 years and I had to keep my vehicles going so I could go to work take care of my kids and I couldn't afford to pay some shopping to do something I could do myself for $70 you know?

@@CarsandCamerasif you have issues with that snowmobile rear end you should make it a double axle in the back so a six wheeler and you can easily link the two axles with just two of the same size sprockets off to the side so the one being driven by the front the front wheel drive the rear one you know and then basically that entire front end setup is probably awful for that. It probably do better with some A-frames and some stabilizer bars going to some pivot knuckles what's the suspension the two shocks be in sitting just over the engine or in front of it but those are a pretty easy effective way for really good suspension I got the idea off of one of my RC cars and I'm about to utilize that and put it on this old Carter two-seater that was like an excellent excellent condition give it to me for free by my daughter's best friend. Her and her sister wrote it a bit when they were kids but there wasn't any really men around that knew how to take care of it because the girls didn't and eventually they're having trouble getting it started and they stopped riding it and they parked it in the shed where it was left for 15 years are probably more like 10 or 12 years but someone had snagged the engine off of it years ago but everything else is there including all four original dry rotten tires that still held air . I have one question, is it difficult to switch it to a live axle cuz it's currently the original one-wheel peel with a drum brake but I have parts to convert it to disc and four new tires like six ply tires and I stripped it down and I'm going to paint it with my paint sprayer and like some car paint. Cuz this is actually a pretty nice Carter and I haven't been able to find the exact one online as of yet and the serial number sticker just wasn't even legible but it's heavy duty in the seat goes back and forth and all that and has two side guards but I think the upper ones are meant to put in cushion which is what I'm going to do so it's more like a bucket seat for two and I'm probably going to roll a a run a roll bar behind the seat just in case there is a flip whether I'll make a cage or not I don't know I don't want to add any more weight than I have to but I think I'm going to have to stretch the frame a little in order for the seat to be back just where it's comfortable and then room for a bigger motor I'll just run a 212 I think at first but it's probably easier than I can go on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace and get a junk dirt bike or older 200 250 350cc motorcycle engine with gears if you know what I'm talking about. A death trap😂

When on snow, the snow melts and lubes the sliders the track runs on. Withput snow you need a water suply to lube the sliders. When snowmobilers want to drag race in the summer they mount a water source on the sled and run hoses down so water runs onto the sliders.

Snowmobiles need to have snow to lubricate the the hyfaxes/slide rails and the drive cogs. without snow the hyfaxes and the drive cogs will get really hot and they will melt and the track will stick to them. and sometimes when they cool down the track will release. and other times it will be stuck permanently. what a person has to do to operate a snowmobile on dry surfaces? is have to remove the hyfaxes and put bogey wheels on the slide rails. and the sled will do much better. I bought a sled once that the previous owners were riding it on the grass and it wouldn't even move. I ended up having to put new drive cogs and hyfaxes on it before I could take it for a ride. I was a snowmobile enthusiast for many years. Im still waiting for you guys to revisit the Honduki project? I still think that machine has a lot of potential.

That noise the track is making is called ratcheting. That means the cogs on the driver are slipping. Also that blue strip right under the the rail at the bottom of the track is called a hyrax [slide rail] those melt away if there isn't snow to keep them cool and lubricated. Once the slide rail melts you will be running on metal to metal. Next is a fire truck! This thing is running on borrowed time.

So if the engine is running so much better without the air filters, The jet is way to big, about 10 / 15 to high, we always took that as a measurement, because putting the choke on would amount to upping the jet by 10. Also should be a air / fuel ratio screw on the carbs, where you can adjust the amount of extra air it takes in :)

Depending on what it was mixed and tuned at before, if your mix is different from that, you are either rich or lean. If you are using less oil, your resulting mix will have more gasoline and run rich. If you are using more oil, it will run lean.

As A Minnesotan. 50:1 has been the norm for fuel oil mixture from the days of my childhood in the 1960's. Chain saws vary 32 & 40 to 1 to the new standard of 50:1. being warmer weather where you are at 40:1 it can run with plug fouling when doing the ratio mixes. Boat motors are much the same. As we always did carry 2 or more sets of plugs with you at all times. Tie rod ends on most shnay machines are always aluminum and weak (the 1960s era machine steel was the norm but that changed). your wheels hanging out as far as they do adds extra strain on the rods and suspension arms. lawn mowers have steel rods and ends.. good luck! yes build one burr better, raising the front and wheels under the sled and just running on the back of the track for better performance behavior and lessoning the track slide drag... Snow (thawed water) is the lubricant on the slide rail track machines, bogie wheel machines do better in dirt (mud?) good luck again

But this is 100% none of ur guys fault, whoever owned that never maintained it. With all that said, love u guys, just trying to have ur backs

You should try and build a reverse trike out of a snow mobile like Grind hard did just with the cars and Cameras twist

Them bogey wheels will freeze that track solid without taking it through water after ripping on the dirt. That why you see guys water skipping and not on dirt for long periods.

Snowmobiles love two foul spark plugs now that you've gone through fuel lines and carburetors rebuild your pulse pump and put in a fresh set of plugs so you can get more accurate reading on your plugs

I haven’t watch the whole video guys but snowmobile‘s are meant to be road ridden. I should say in cold weather so they don’t have any air filters on them. Those air filters being on the sun will be will probably run it a little lean so that might be your issue to.

How would a restriction of air cause an engine to run lean? Filters don’t create more air they restrict flow… not to mention those tiny little filters they put on there have no possible capability of flowing enough air for the size of that engine… definitely not lean

Dont replace that tie rod with another aluminum rod... You have to remember that that is a snow mobile. And it's not meant for a lot of weight and it's supposed to slide on top of the snow. And you're putting your put wheels on the front of it. Which makes it heavier and grip a whole lot more so that aluminum's not gonna be sturdy enough. You will have to build. New tire rod links for both sides

I'd love to see someone put a rear axle on this thing but retain the track so if you get too deep in mud etc you could cruise right through
