Gotta be Barbel for me, then maybe Flounder or Bass. That first barbel can be very elusive. if you can get to Hampton Court on the Thames when the river is really high & fish under the roots of the trees that are on dry land normally with a large lump of Luncheon Meat and being very stealthy will probably be your best chance on the Thames or for a guaranteed Barbel just pop over to Simmons Yat East area on the River Wye. it's not that far from London in reality, definitely easily done in summer as a day trip..👍Wish you luck on your quest my friend..🤞🤞🎣

Have you seen any good carp down there ??
@MUCKER671
@MUCKER671 3 жыл бұрын
Soz for the late response. I've only heard of Carp coming out of the Eastern side of the island, I've lost two large Carp, at least that's what i would imagine they where, maybe Cat's though in the swim at the top north east corner of the island or tooth as i like to call it, fishing from the opposite bank at the intersection of Russell Rd B375 and Walton Ln. Park in the small layby on the left on Walton Rd, walk across a small grassed area to the river. There's a concrete landing area for boats that you can fish from. Depths vary dramatically within a couple of rod lengths out or so. Shallow ish under the overhanging tree then drops of dramatically in jagged steps as you move left, all within 6mtrs or so. Big anomaly in an otherwise fairly benign area of river. Lost my fish fishing on the short middle ledge that drops off a couple of feet downstream of the overhanging tree in front of you using corn on a ground bait feeder for large Roach. Hope this helps you bud..😊👍

Is this area any good for targeting pike with lures?
@MUCKER671
@MUCKER671 3 жыл бұрын
I've bagged up on good Perch all around the island area & have been bitten off by Pike in the past so I'd say great potential as the bigger Pike tend to like the same areas. Lots of overhanging marginal trees when the waters up a bit & lots of slower slack areas to. Hope this helps bud..😊👍

@@ianmaddams9577 just had a thought, if you want the chance of a monster I would suggest the intersection of the B375 Russell Road & Walton Lane. Turn on to Walton Lane, there's a layby on the left you can park in, cross over the green & fish from the small concrete mooring area. One rod length out just to the left with a dead bait, it holds monsters i have never been able to land..!! If you do, hit me up with your results some time co's I'd love to know how big these things are.. 15lb sub line 30lb trace & no chance of landing them..!! Freaking awesome on the day.. Loads of Roach hide in the deep directly in front, perfect for monsters bud..!

The small grass bank just above Chertsey Bridge on the loch side is worth a try for Barbel, I cast around 5 to 10mtrs upstream inline with the second pillar of the bridge with a fishy boilie & paste covering the Weight Boilie & hook. Very occasionally large Carp come out around the sandy cut-in bay area just bellow the bridge on the same side & very good road fishing on the waggler all along that stretch. Don't forget Layham for the Silvers just upstream, very productive on its day. 5-6ft hook lengths work we'll for me all over this area believe it or not..! 😊👍Hope this helps bud..

@MUCKER671
@MUCKER671 2 жыл бұрын
Hi bud, I've not heard of many around this area I'm afraid but just upstream in the slacks bellow Shepperton Wier and in the Wier it's self (if you can reach the deep whole) can work. My first choice would be to stay at AppsCourt Campsite and fish the stretch that's accessible in my video on the campsite. You can camp near the private access gate to the river and have lots more choices for Cat's. Much safer to night fish especially..!! That stretch of Towpath is much harder to access on foot for certain types if you know what i mean bud.. Not sure if you've seen my video on Shepperton but if you're still interested in the area you mentioned earlier there's some tips that may or may not be helpful for you. Tight Lines to you..😊👍🎣🐟

@MUCKER671 3 жыл бұрын
Hi bud, it's good you're going on a week night, that on its own will help, not so many drunk people pestering you.. To get away from people on that stretch I'd suggest one of the three lay-bys on the left-hand side of the road as you drive down Walton Lane from the Bridge. Drive past the large car park on the left and in the next few 100 metres you can park in the lay-bys and cross the road to fish in the Desborough cut, which is the canal like stretch shown in my videos. You should be slightly away from everybody there as the road doesn't really lead to anywhere or the Towpath so not too many people at night hopefully. Check that you are still ok to park in the lay-bys just in case there's any changes though. Lots of flow in the Cut..👍I've fished all over this area & not had any problems. Otherwise if you can get the swim try the lovely grassy flat swim that's just inside the entrance to vandals Rugby Club on the island or tooth as I call it. Quite quiet normally & one of my fav's.. It's the second to last swim in my first vid of Walton. Hope this helps my friend and please let me know how you get on..😊👍 P.s the Western side of the island can be interesting at night in the summer so maybe stay away from there if on your own just incase..🥴😊

I've night fished alot under & around the old Walton Bridge as it was 3 years ago. Had massive bag's of Silvers in daylight including small Chub plus big bags of large Bream at night when it's in flood. My next post will be on this stretch in a couple of weeks hopefully. As for the island or tooth section as i like to call it, I've fished day & night in most swims. 4pm & 4am are the most productive times anywhere on the non tidal themes normally for the larger species. The gates lock at night in the large free car park on the left that's on the video as i turn on to Walton Lane just before going over the bridge. I've posted the other half of the Island swims just recently if you haven't seen it. Great swims and parking. P.s Night fishing all along this stretch is allowed. Hope this helps you out bud..😊👍
