I'm new to the scooter life and my battery is starting to fail and this video may just save my bacon. We do this kind of maintenance on electric fork lift batteries at work so I don't know why I didn't think of it myself! Thanks for the video, very helpful!

they are a pair of 12 volt scooter batteries. it was charging fine but then we had it dissconnected for a good month or more when i charged it i got nothing. I followed your instructions, and one battery was totally dry while the other was pretty full. is it possible for one to die while the other still good?

Hello Mister Scooter, Are you still there? I'm having trouble with Pride Go Go scooter for my wife. I got new batteries that came fully charged, but now they don't recharge; just get a partial charge that doesn't last long. I'm trying to trouble shoot to see if I have a short circuit or have a bad charger. I have a multi-meter, but I'm not an electrician. Any recommendations ?

I overfilled it and when it was charging it started leaking pretty badly. Did i damage the battery? did i lose enough acid to kill the battery? (it's a little 4lb 12v 3ah)

My battery failed 3 years ago. been kickstarting my piaggo ever since. Recently I had maintenance done and replaced the battery. 44 euros! now I'm gonna store my battery for the winter witch a trickle charger! My first battery lasted about 5 years without trickle charging and being in storage every winter.

Hi Boowonder, I have some reservations about trickle battery tenders. I feel like those tenders accelerate the "death" of a battery. I believe the water evaporates faster on a charger. Having you ever felt the sides of a battery when it is on a tender cycle? Its warm to the touch. So I charge my battery and then take it off charge. I would charge it once more just before putting in back into my bike at the start of riding season. I wish more scooters came with kickstarts here in North America, where are you from ?

I have a velocity 21st scooter with alarm.. n I have 2 acid batteries One gel battery .. with alarm gel battery last 2 weeks then dead .. only have trickle charger put it on for 2 days to full capacity charge .. I have replaced the Stater CDI box .. regulator rectifier .. battery still dies after two weeks .. never done battery water method .. would the same method work on acid batteries and gel batteries ? pls any feedback would be great 😁

It worked on my drill battery, several AA and AAA batteries, and my camera battery; now they are useable again! This is very fun to do also. It really works for any kind of batteries!?

i have one similar one day it was boiling over i took off the strip that covers the cells added water charged it and awesome!!!!!!!!!!!! not rocket science. but on one battery the strip would not seal.

Shhh! In the pass I've sparingly used a bit of silicone to seal leaky caps. Never used it to seal the entire top cap, just around the leaky ones. Right, it an easy job?

Noel Burger yes it is a maintenance free battery. I topped it off with distilled water and never had another problem with the battery!

no I wouldn't add water I would go to the local parts store and get a bag of battery acid for like a motorcycle battery they'll help you out to get the right acid

Drinking 🍸 water 🚰 is not distilled, yous don't wants no minerals in your battery. Batteries don't come with distilled water, they come filled with electrolyte, a sulfuric acid solution that can be topped off with distilled 💧 water for maintenance

Let a battery run out of water, run it down to dead, let it sit uncharged for months, charge it at too high of an amp rate, buy as cheap as possible, use the wrong type of charger, don't read instructions, expect batteries and scooters to run without maintenance and repairs. Mobility scooters use sealed lead acid batteries, no water needed.

That wasn't distilled water you had. That was drinking or purified water. Distilled water is clearly marked on the label. Or you can take water out of the hose or faucet and "BOIL" it. That will also remove any impurities from your local water company.
