Thanks, Kenny. I work nearly exclusively with MIDI, and the timebase solutions for tempo mapping gave me a real "Eureka!" moment.

Really like this one and it's a killer thing to understand if you're collaborating with a purist musician. I'm glad you addressed the MIDI gotcha in that you have to change two things to stop the notes stretching and moving around, not just one like you do with audio items. That had me scratching my head for a bit recently. I've been adding accompaniments to someone's freeform piano MIDI a few months ago -- they play beautifully but you have no chance of getting drums on something so interestingly timed and articulated without a tempo map. The stuff in this vid is pretty much how I did it, without the quantizing bit at the end. Anyway, love your vids -- great stuff as ever.

First off, thanks for this video, particularly for the clear explanation of the timebase hoops you have to jump through for MIDI. Beyond that, sorry for the tough love, but I don't understand the target audience for this video. If I can't play the part at a strict tempo, knowing the average tempo isn't going to help me do so, and there are better ways to figure out the average tempo than this. And, more likely, I want to preserve the nuance of a non-metronomic performance, and compose around it. But you chuck all of the tempo mapping work and don't get into the challenges of working around such a map. So this is kind of just an abstract exercise. I'd appreciate a "how to navigate the rough waters of tempo maps in REAPER" video, would also be useful for the devs to see how an advanced user deals with it... Thanks again!

Hi Kenny! How can I stop from making unwanted time selection? I find It too senstitive. I wish It would be less easily responsive... Thank you for your great work!

Is your problem that the music is stretching to the tempo? If so, you need to go into project settings and change the time base to time.

@@H0v0H Tx for answering. No, the problem is when I try to navigate the project w a mouse, and accidentally make an unwanted time selection. Doesn't hurt the project, but slows me down having to remove it all the time. I wish I had a way to only make the time selections I want, and not because I rubbed the screen a little bit...

@familysounds :( I don't think I could help you there. I'm still figuring things out myself. This might be a good opportunity to learn about workflow in reaper.

@@familysounds You can change the settings of the mouse modifier for selection in the window you are using. In the main menu: Options -> Preference -> Mouse Modifiers -> Context: Ruler --> left drag. And for left mouse click with dragging assigned by default, you can assign by clicking: "Default action = No action". Selection can be made by holding down the Control key and dragging the mouse.

Klasse, aber die KI-Stimme ist furchtbar. Gib mir den Text, ich lese ihn dir ein.

Desde el PC permite elegir idioma de locución, pero no permite en el teléfono. Es horrible. Envíen sugerencia o reclamación a youtube. Auf dem PC können Sie die Stimme-Sprache auswählen, aber im Telophon nicht zulässt. Es ist schrecklich. Senden Sie Vorschläge oder Anspruch an KZbin.

Yo why doesn’t autotune work in reaper?
@siddienam8465 күн бұрын
Erm... it does? Why do you think it doesn't! Off topic for this one, but Kenny's autotune vid is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYiapomsmNFksNEsi=8m6p0_gWAYTsulnY
