I know not Kara, nor have I any idea of what she is said to have done. That said, I'm outraged. Why? Because, as I understand it, she is simply accused at this point. I'm nppt even sure if she's been formally charged. She's entitled to a presumption of innocence. Tossing her into GenPop before even a hearing says different. The extreme limits on her contact with the outside deprives her of this basic right. She's entitled to a speedy trial, by a jury of her peers. Has she even made a single court appearance? She's entitled to confront her accusers. It's simply wrong to first lock someone up then take your sweet time digging. Piling on charges, stretching statutes to cover anything, is plainly unjust. Bail is meant only to ensure appearance in court. How is a cripple supposed to flee? This isn't justice -- this is Soviet Gulag type abuse.

I have a lot of experience in lock up and the "justice" system and the most surprising thing to me, *always*, is how shocked the normies are at the way it functions when someone they care about is put through it. This is how it works, and believe it or not, it has improved dramatically over time. Another factor, and garauntee its the biggest factor, is that its all going down in NY. Rikers Island is the most notorious jail in the country. Its so overcrowded that 4 to 6 years wait till trial IS speedy. A huge portion of people in Rikers will get sentences that are shorter than the time they waited in jail for trial, and they wont be compensated for any of the extra. Rikers is in such a bad state that the feds are on the verge of taking it over and running it. New York as a whole is so deeply corrupted that the only way to fix it would be to eliminate every elected person and have new elections for people who have no ties to any former anything

So. Something D.O. has apparently neglected to tell people is why this is all going down. The short version is that Kara humiliated her local government by taking a picture of herself urinating on a police car. The long version is that your government is vindictive and evil, and if you cross them in any way they were find a way to destroy you. Does she deserve this? No. Is any of this justified? Absolutely not. Does she bear some of the responsibility for what happened? That's a tricky question. As I said in the earlier post, Taking a picture of herself standing on the hood of a cop car and pissing on it is sort of like walking into a cage full of starving bears wearing a suit made out of steaks. She taunted powerful corrupt people, and those powerful corrupt people went after her for it. D.O. likes to talk about the lessons he learned from this experience but one thing he doesn't seem to talk about is being responsible for your own safety. If you walk up to a row of harleys owned by hells angels, and kick them over, You are going to suffer bad consequences. If you walk up to someone three times your size and punch them in the face, things will not go well for you. Kara does not DESERVE any of this. All of this is horrifying and disgusting, but Kara made an unwise decision of going after powerful people while having skeletons in her closet and those powerful people used those skeletons to destroy her in horrific ways.

How about we all join forces to fight the real fucked up shit going on in the world rather than just bickering about small shit and separating ourselves into ever smaller groups based on our politics.

@@acmhfmggruand how does that change the situation? Sure she might have a harder time at trial because of that but this is all pretrial. @@bear4278 I don't see how what I said is us vs. them. I'm not right-wing. I'm just calling out the biases that I see. Have you read the charges? They're serious, and except for a very favorable interpretation of intent, suggest involvement in organized crime. This person is a career criminal. You're all being hornswaggled by a victim narrative. I'm not defending the jail. Not at all. But I also realize that two things can be true at the same time.
@trioptimum9027 Жыл бұрын
@@sproutpits Dunno if this is your first time taking a close look at Federal prosecution, but the way this works is that they load up every imaginable charge that's even kinda related to somewhere you might have been. When you are reading those charges, you should assume as a baseline that the WHOLE TOP HALF are just false. If someone is charged with, say, assault with a deadly weapon, battery, affray, attempted murder in the second, and attempted murder in the first, the likeliest scenario is that the prosecutor thinks they can definitely prove you were involved in a fight, and they can probably prove that you had a bat, and they're hoping a jury will believe that you hit a guy with that bat, and also hoping that your attorney doesn't convince the jury that the whole thing was self-defense considering the four of them chased you to your yard. You have to understand that those charges aren't the basis for a trial. They're the basis for a *plea bargain.* The bar is not "can I prove this in a court of law," it's "is it possible that a defense attorney who doesn't yet have all the facts might possibly think that there's a 1% chance that a really bad jury might believe this kinda technically happened by a twisted interpretation of the letter of the law?"

@@sproutpits I can understand you pointing out Dev’s bias, and I have pulled him up in the past and said pretty much the same thing I am saying here (and to his credit, I haven’t seen him bring it up again since then in his videos). My point is that I don’t think we should be trying to seperate people into groups on issues when that really doesn’t matter. That goes for both “sides”. I just figure we are doing ourselves a disservice by continuing to bring up politics in situations where they shouldn’t be a factor. As for Kara, of course Dev is a bit biased. But that is most likely because she is his friend, not because of politics. As I mentioned in my reply to the now deleted comment, yes, she may have a harder time at trial due to the severity of the claims and her history but I think we should believe in due process and justice and all this stuff happening pretrial is super fucked. I hope that makes sense.
