@@CodingEntrepreneurs stopped keeping track after the third, mostly one offs though. I was mostly struggling with the cloudflare DNS records, didnt know it was that easy, never knew it was a thing. Always thought most features will be paywalled and id get a credit card charge without realizing.

I believe you can! Try using the custom email as the from address but still need to login with the gmail one and the app password.

Its not limited to just gmail, or django. a lot of services let you add your own smtp settings, ranging for password reset of some application, or verification. If you get more on the self-hosted side, you will find this very useful, especially if you own a domain and want those professional looking mails coming automatically.

Purchasing through go daddy means it’s yours and you own it. (Unless there’s some new domain leasing I don’t know of). While you have to renew ownership each year, it’s still yours.

I think the renewal payments is a bit of a tax to pay for the whole system as well as ensure valuable domains don’t just go stale.
