Free up the cargo light switch as an auxiliary upfitter switch, 2014+ GM trucks

2019 and newer Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra and International CV 4500, 5500 and 6500 trucks come with upfitter switches. But if you have several options equipped, you may be left with just 1 auxiliary switch. The cargo light switch is useful as an extra aux. switch. This also applies for anyone with 2014 and newer 1500, 2500 and 3500 trucks wanting to use the cargo light switch.

Ive got a 2014 gmc Sierra 1500, the white wire with purple stripe will still be the cargo power wire correct?

Hello, So I have a 2015 Silverado 3500 with six dedicated switches. I just bought a module with seven switches, the seventh being a aux1. I want to use this for strobe lights. Would you know how I would hook this up or have a wiring diagram? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Didnt the splice need to go on the outgoing side of the fuse box? I did what you've shown here and my auxiliary lights don't work, but the cargo lights still come on.

You might be able to go behind the switch and splice from there.

I believe these switch’s switch the ground not the power. So run direct (fused) power and this switch opens/closes the ground side to a ground distribution. ❤

That circuit is always hot. So, it always works.

Unfortunately the vehicle computer disables the cargo light circuit unless the vehicle is in park. Verified…thanks GM.

Is there any way to “override” that I k ow some guys have put switches In there truck to make it think it’s in park would that work on the newer ones tho?
