It's a 2 position close, 1st is soft close that uses the slide lock, 2nd is detent lock which is harder to pull open Don't slam the drawers and it won't detect lock

I hope the box stays on one spot then, because that is also to help keep the drawers closed when moving around

It does for the most part. But these boxes also come with a manual lock in the top portion so if I move it far you can completely lock all of them down when needed.
