My 2011 Prius started beeping, last night, about every minute. No symbol on the dash. I can start and drive fine. Today I took the car to the mechanic to find out was horror-expensive thing was going to need replacing but there was no more beeping. I looked pretty stupid bothering him for nothing. Went home the car started beeping again and NOW I have the immobilizer symbol flashing. I get my second key fob but that doesn't solve the problem. The manual does not tell you HOW to fix it!!! I will go try the door lock trick ... thanks for the video.
@Dashboardwarninglights6 ай бұрын
@macforme The beeping in your 2011 Prius accompanied by the flashing immobilizer symbol can be frustrating, especially since it's intermittent. The immobilizer system is designed to prevent the car from being started without the correct key. Here are some steps you can take to address the issue: Check the Key Fob Battery: The most common cause of immobilizer issues is a weak or dead key fob battery. Replace the battery in both key fobs and see if the problem persists. Reprogram the Key Fob: Sometimes the key fob may need to be reprogrammed to sync properly with the car's immobilizer system. This can often be done by following specific procedures found in the vehicle's manual or by visiting a dealership. Check for Interference: Other electronic devices or key fobs (such as those from other vehicles) can sometimes cause interference with the immobilizer system. Make sure there are no other devices nearby that could be causing the issue. Inspect the Immobilizer System: There could be an issue with the immobilizer antenna or the wiring. A professional mechanic or dealership can run a diagnostic to check for faults in the system. Reset the System: In some cases, disconnecting the car battery for a few minutes can reset the electronic systems and resolve minor glitches. Be sure to consult your vehicle’s manual for the correct procedure and potential consequences (like losing radio presets or needing to re-enter security codes). Check for Software Updates: Sometimes, a software update from the manufacturer can resolve issues with the immobilizer system. Check with your local Toyota dealership to see if any updates are available for your vehicle. If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it may be necessary to take your Prius to a Toyota dealership or a specialized automotive locksmith for further diagnosis and repair. They have the tools and expertise to deal with immobilizer problems and can provide a more accurate and efficient solution.

If the mobilizer lock is present can you override it by jump-starting the car?
@Dashboardwarninglights9 ай бұрын
@kevingoldsmith9822 What To Do With Micro Chipped Keys (most modern immobilizers) 1. Try different key. 2. Turn Ignition on and off 5-6 times. 3. Turn Ignition on for 5 minutes, turn off and retry. 4. Disconnect Battery for 5 minutes. 5. Disconnect Battery for 5 minutes while disconnected join positive (+) and negative (-) leads together, this will disperse any small electrical charge stored in electronics. 6. Disconnect Battery for 5 minutes and reconnect with ignition key in switch on position. What to Do with Remote Key Fobs 1. Check batteries in remote. 2. Press button on remote with batteries removed. 3. Disconnect Battery on car for 5 minutes. 4. Hold button down for a few seconds. 5. Hold both buttons down for a few seconds. 6. If in high area of radio interference (ports, supermarket car parks etc.) move car to new location.

The hazard warning lights only flash when the theft deterrent system is armed and the engine will not start. To restore the system ,turn the ignition key to the lock position then to the on position,now press the lock/unlock door button on the driver's door,then turn on the ignition, the car should start.

@Dashboardwarninglights3 ай бұрын
@siyabuleladyonase The key symbol on your dashboard typically indicates an issue with the car's immobilizer system. The immobilizer is an anti-theft system that prevents the engine from starting unless the correct key is used. Here are a few potential reasons for the issue: 👉Key Fob Battery: If your Mazda5 uses a key fob with a chip, the battery in the key fob might be dead, preventing it from communicating with the car's immobilizer system. 👉 Key Recognition Issue: Sometimes, the car might not recognize the key due to a fault in the key itself or the car's immobilizer system. 👉 Faulty Immobilizer System: There could be an issue with the immobilizer system in your car, such as a malfunctioning antenna or control module. 👉 Low Battery: A low or dead car battery might cause the immobilizer system to malfunction, preventing the car from recognizing the key. 👉 Interference: Electronic interference from other devices or a strong magnetic field could potentially disrupt the communication between the key and the car's immobilizer system. ✅ You can try the following steps: 👉 Check the Key Fob Battery: Replace the battery in your key fob if it’s weak or dead. 👉 Try a Spare Key: If you have a spare key, try using it to see if the car starts. 👉 Reset the System: Sometimes, locking and unlocking the car with the key fob can reset the system. 👉 Disconnect the Battery: Disconnect the car battery for a few minutes and then reconnect it. This can sometimes reset the immobilizer system. If none of these solutions work, you may need to have the car diagnosed by a professional to determine the exact cause. ❤ I hope you can fix it quick and that there is nothing more serious. 👉 Happy to help! ✅ "If you find this video useful, please share it with your friends! I have a Malibu 2010 how to fix correctly?
@Dashboardwarninglights13 күн бұрын
@Editszxx29 If the Immobilizer System Warning Light is on in your 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, it typically means there’s an issue with the vehicle’s anti-theft system, which can prevent the engine from starting. Here are steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue: 1. Check for Key or Fob Issues: 👉 Use the Correct Key or Fob: Ensure you are using the right key or key fob that has been programmed for the car. If you're using a duplicate or an unprogrammed key, the immobilizer might not recognize it. 👉 Try a Spare Key: If you have a spare key or fob, try using that to start the car. If it works, the issue might be with the original key or fob. 2. Turn the Key to the “On” Position: Insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the “ON” position (without starting the engine). Leave it in this position for about 10 minutes. This may reset the system and turn off the warning light if the system recognizes the key. 3. Check for Faulty Fuses: 👉 Inspect Fuses: A blown fuse related to the immobilizer system can trigger the warning light. Check the fuses for the ignition system or anti-theft system and replace any that are blown. The owner’s manual should have a diagram showing fuse locations. 4. Disconnect the Battery: Disconnect the car’s battery for about 15-30 minutes to reset the system. Reconnect the battery and check if the light is still on. This can sometimes clear system errors or glitches. 5. Reprogram the Key (If Necessary): If the key is not being recognized, it might need to be reprogrammed to the car. You can typically have this done at a Chevrolet dealership or by an automotive locksmith with the proper equipment. 6. Check for Faulty Immobilizer Module: If the above steps don’t work, the issue may be with the immobilizer module itself, or with the transponder chip inside the key or key fob. In this case, you may need to have the module tested or replaced. This will require a diagnostic scan and may be best handled by a dealership or qualified technician. 7. Contact a Professional: If you’ve tried the above steps and the immobilizer light is still on, it’s best to contact a professional mechanic or a Chevrolet dealership to diagnose the issue further. They will be able to scan the vehicle’s computer for error codes and determine if there’s a more serious issue with the immobilizer system. Taking the car to a certified technician might be necessary if the problem involves more complex components like the security module, transponder chip, or wiring issues. Would you like more detailed steps on any of these suggestions?

My hyundai sonata 2005 cannot start due to p1609 immobiliser problem...how can i fix this problem?
@Dashboardwarninglights14 күн бұрын
@Dhiazaara The P1609 code on your 2005 Hyundai Sonata indicates an issue with the immobilizer system, which is responsible for preventing unauthorized engine starts. This error usually means that the Engine Control Module (ECM) is not receiving the proper signal from the transponder key or there’s a communication issue between the immobilizer and the key. ✅ Here are steps to help you address the problem: 1. Check the Key and Transponder Chip 👉 Key Damage: If the key has any physical damage or the transponder chip inside the key is malfunctioning, the immobilizer system will not recognize it. Try using a spare key if you have one. 👉 Key Reprogramming: If the key's transponder chip has lost its programming or is faulty, you may need to have the key reprogrammed. You can do this through a Hyundai dealer or a locksmith with the appropriate tools. 2. Inspect the Immobilizer System 👉 Check the Antenna Coil: The antenna coil around the ignition cylinder reads the chip in the key. If it’s damaged, the system won’t detect the key. A damaged coil might need to be replaced. 👉 Reset the System: Sometimes, resetting the immobilizer system can help. This can be done by: Turning the key to the "On" position for 10-15 minutes (without cranking the engine). Turning it back to the "Off" position, then trying to start again. 3. Check the Fuses and Wiring Inspect fuses related to the immobilizer system in your fuse box. If a fuse is blown, replace it. Check for any loose or corroded wiring connections that could interfere with communication between the key, antenna coil, and ECM. 4. ECM and Immobilizer Reset or Reprogramming In some cases, the ECM and immobilizer might need to be reset or reprogrammed. This usually requires professional diagnostic equipment. A Hyundai dealership or a mechanic with the proper tools can perform this task. 5. Diagnostic Scan If you haven’t done so already, a full diagnostic scan should be performed to check if there are any other codes or issues in the system. Sometimes there could be additional errors that are contributing to the immobilizer problem. 6. Replace Faulty Immobilizer Components If the antenna coil, key, or immobilizer control module is found to be defective, replacement may be necessary. You might need to visit a Hyundai dealer for replacement parts. 7. Professional Help If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it’s a good idea to take the car to a Hyundai dealer or a locksmith who specializes in automotive immobilizer systems. They will be able to reprogram or reset the system properly. Immobilizer issues can be tricky, and sometimes it may be necessary to replace certain components to fully resolve the problem. Start with the simple fixes, like checking the key and fuses, and then move toward more complex diagnostics if needed.

Wouldn’t the battery die if you leave the accessories on
@Dashboardwarninglights2 ай бұрын
@lucasatherton1703 Yes, leaving the accessories on in your car, such as the radio, lights, or other electrical components, can drain the battery over time, especially if the engine is not running to recharge the battery. This can lead to the battery dying, making it difficult or impossible to start the vehicle. Regarding the Immobilizer Light on the Dashboard: The immobilizer light usually indicates the status of your car's security system. When you turn off the engine and remove the key, the immobilizer light may blink, signaling that the system is active. If the immobilizer light stays on or blinks when the key is in the ignition or when the engine is running, it might indicate a problem with the immobilizer system, such as a key fob issue, a faulty sensor, or a glitch in the system. However, the immobilizer light itself uses very little power and is unlikely to drain the battery on its own. The real concern is leaving other high-draw accessories on for an extended period, which could lead to battery drain. ✅ "If you find this video useful, please share it with your friends! So I have a 2001 Elantra I don’t have a remote fob it’s a regular key
@Dashboardwarninglights28 күн бұрын
@MrPositivelypositive The Immobilizer System Warning Light in your 2001 Hyundai Elantra indicates an issue with the vehicle’s immobilizer system. The immobilizer is an anti-theft feature that prevents the engine from starting without the correct key. Since you mentioned you have a regular key and not a remote fob, it's important to note that even basic car keys in many vehicles, including your Elantra, can have a transponder chip inside them. This chip communicates with the immobilizer system to verify that the correct key is being used. ✅ Common Causes for the Immobilizer Warning Light: 👉 Key Transponder Issue: The key’s transponder may be malfunctioning or damaged. If the chip is not recognized, the car won't start, and the warning light will illuminate. 👉 Antenna or Receiver Issue: The immobilizer system has a receiver near the ignition switch that communicates with the key's chip. If the receiver or wiring is faulty, the system may not detect the key properly. 👉 System Malfunction: The immobilizer system itself may have a fault, such as a software glitch or a damaged module. 👉 Battery Issue: Although your key doesn't have a remote fob, low car battery voltage can sometimes cause immobilizer issues, as the system may not function properly with insufficient power. ✅ Possible Solutions: 👉 Use a Spare Key: If you have a spare key, try using it. If the warning light goes away, the issue may be with the original key's transponder chip. 👉 Reset the System: You can try to reset the immobilizer system by turning the ignition to the "on" position (without starting the engine) for about 10-15 minutes. Then turn it off and try starting the car again. 👉 Check for Wiring Issues: There could be a problem with the wiring near the ignition or the antenna ring that reads the key’s transponder. Have a professional mechanic inspect the connections. 👉 Professional Diagnosis: If the warning light persists, it's best to take the car to a professional mechanic or a dealership. They can use diagnostic tools to check for fault codes related to the immobilizer system and determine whether the key or the system itself needs repair or reprogramming. If your key needs replacement or reprogramming, this typically requires a visit to a dealership or an automotive locksmith that has the necessary equipment to work with immobilizer systems.

Hopefully you may be able to assist. Mine has just been flashing the red car iconic light, but not turning on at all on the dashboard, no crank, nothing . What could be a cause please
@Dashboardwarninglights2 ай бұрын
@isaacmpofana5804 If your car's immobilizer light (the red car icon) is flashing, and the vehicle won’t start or crank, it’s likely an issue with the immobilizer system, which is designed to prevent the car from being started without the correct key. Here are some possible causes: 1. Key or Transponder Issue Key not recognized: If the car’s key has a built-in transponder, it must communicate with the immobilizer system to allow the car to start. If the key’s transponder is damaged or the battery in the key fob is dead, the immobilizer won’t recognize it. Faulty key fob: The immobilizer might not recognize a damaged or low-battery key fob, preventing the car from starting. Solution: Try a spare key to see if the issue persists. Replace the key fob battery or reprogram the key if needed. 2. Immobilizer System Malfunction Faulty immobilizer: Sometimes the immobilizer system itself can fail, which prevents it from recognizing the key or allowing the car to start. Wiring issues: A problem with the immobilizer’s wiring or sensors can cause communication failure between the key and the immobilizer system. Solution: Check for any loose or damaged wires. You may need to have the immobilizer system diagnosed and repaired by a professional. 3. Dead Car Battery A completely dead or weak car battery can prevent the immobilizer system from functioning, as the system relies on power from the battery to communicate with the key and start the vehicle. Solution: Check the battery voltage. If the battery is low or dead, recharge or replace it. 4. ECU/Immobilizer Module Issue The engine control unit (ECU) or immobilizer module may have failed or become unresponsive. This can cause the immobilizer light to flash, indicating that the system cannot recognize the key. Solution: You may need to have the ECU or immobilizer module reset or replaced by a mechanic. 5. Interference or Faulty Sensors If there’s electronic interference (from other devices or nearby objects), it can disrupt the signal between the key and the immobilizer system. Faulty sensors or components within the ignition or immobilizer system could also cause the issue. Solution: Move away from potential interference sources. Have the sensors and ignition system checked by a mechanic. 6. Alarm or Anti-Theft System Triggered The alarm system might be activated, preventing the car from starting due to a potential security threat. Solution: Try disarming the alarm by using the key fob or manually unlocking the door. Check if the car’s alarm system needs resetting. Next Steps: If you’ve tried the above solutions and the car still won’t start, it’s a good idea to have the immobilizer system diagnosed by a professional mechanic. They will be able to check if the system requires reprogramming or if there are any deeper electrical issues.

@@TheWaldo45 If the immobilizer warning light is slightly lit and you bought the car with a copy key (not the original), the issue may be related to the key not being fully recognized by the vehicle’s immobilizer system. Here's what could be happening: 👉 Key Not Properly Programmed: The copy key may not have been fully or correctly programmed to the car’s immobilizer system. If the vehicle's computer can't properly detect the key's transponder chip, it could cause the immobilizer light to turn on. 👉 Intermittent Immobilizer Signal: The light being dim could indicate that the immobilizer system is intermittently losing communication with the key. This can happen if the transponder chip in the key is malfunctioning or not close enough to the ignition antenna. 👉 Immobilizer System Issue: There could also be an issue with the immobilizer system itself, such as a faulty antenna ring (which reads the key's transponder) or wiring problems. ✅ Solutions: 👉 Check the Key: Have the copy key checked by a locksmith or dealership to ensure it is correctly programmed to the car. 👉 Get a New Key Programmed: If the key is faulty, you may need to have a new key cut and programmed to the immobilizer system. 👉 Diagnostic Check: A diagnostic scan will reveal any error codes related to the immobilizer or key. Given that the car starts and runs, the issue might not be critical yet, but it’s best to address it before it potentially causes the car not to start in the future.

A bad ground can cause similar symptoms. 👉 Ignition Switch: The ignition switch might be faulty, preventing the starter from receiving power even if the key is turned. 👉 Starter Relay or Solenoid: Although the starter is new, the starter relay or solenoid might be malfunctioning. 👉 Security System Issue: If the vehicle’s anti-theft system is activated or malfunctioning, it can prevent the car from starting. 👉 Wiring Issues: There might be a damaged or loose wire somewhere in the starting circuit or related systems. 👉 Engine Control Module (ECM): The ECM or its connections could be at fault. If the ECM isn't functioning properly, it might not be sending the necessary signals to start the engine. 👉 Faulty Sensors: Certain sensors like the crankshaft or camshaft position sensor can cause the engine to not start if they fail. Since the vehicle is experiencing clicking from the fuse box, it suggests that the starter relay is trying to engage but isn't succeeding. I recommend having a mechanic perform a thorough diagnostic check, especially focusing on the ignition switch, starter relay, solenoid, ground connections, and potential wiring issues. I hope you can fix it quick and that there is nothing more serious. Happy to help!
