I think I must have missed the part where you told us how to get the correct code for our car and avoid up to the 273 hours and 23 minutes it would take to enter the 6,561possible combinations for a 4 digit code. Of course, that’s figuring 2.5 minutes per code entry and starting attempt and does not factor in the delays due to the 3.2 probable suicide attempts.

Obviously 0000 to 9999 = 10,000 combinations. Entering 6,561 combinations gets you almost 2/3rds of the way there, so please don't give up yet, keep trying!

+Felipe Drumond Hi I am still new to Vauxhalls so can only make guesses! If several things stop working on a dash at once this is usually down to the wiring/connector at the back of the dash. Sometimes a simple wiggle better still undoe and refit does the job. They can be a bit of a bugger to get out can dashpanels especially the speedo cable so you may want to find a video of that one. Many cars have micro switches aa part of car alarma and central locking systems these are known to fail in my Rover I dont know what's inside an astra door. Sometimes a simple spray or soak in WD 40 can work wonders inside a door especially as it's not always possible to remove bits. Other cars have a seperate central locking pump in the door these can often be replaced by the 2 or 4 wire ones sold in Maplin. I used to pay around a tenner for them which is often cheaper than going to a scrapper for them. Before you do mess with door though disconnect and reconnect car battery and check earth lead between battery and body as either may sort probs to.

Hi i don't really know anything about other makes and models as I owned this car and no others for many years. Most of the newer stuff has keys and\or fobs that have to be programmed in to the car. I had to pay £100+ to Vauxhall a few years ago to get a second key for our Astra programmed to it. Had the astra now for 6 or 7 years now and probably last just as long again. Not had a Ford since old secondhand ones back in the early nineties, all pre factory alarm and immobiliser cars, sorry.

Hi, this video was originally intended for the few Rover 800 owners I thought might need it, with only a few dozen views ever expected, my car being a Rover 800 Coupe from the late nineteen nineties. Back then and until very recently I had pretty much stayed with Rover 800's, so have little to no knowledge of any other cars systems. It turns out that that it does also works out on some other vehicles too, including a couple of MG, some Jags, Land Rovers, Hondas, a couple of Kias, and a few more makes/models, even on a couple of Nissans (although most Nissans of that age used Nissan's own NATS system)(...which I no nowt about). Other makes and models often used there own systems too, or were still using none. I would have been perfectly happy just to know, that making this had helped even just one Rover 800 owner to enter there code, as the instructions to do this in the Rover 800 handbook were a little tricky to understand and as in my case too it was always difficult to do correctly so as an owner you would still be stuck with an immobilised car. To have also helped a few other owners on this/their journey has been a godsend for some, but to get a million+ hits, I truely never expected that! Thanks for comment and watching.

Hi, I am a great fan of Volvos ever since my Dad had one when I was a kid, I am not sure if they use an EKA code or not though. The only website I can find that supplies codes these days is Hickleys and they only seem to list Key Codes for Volvos (www.hickleys.com/diagnostics/codeservice/all_codes.php) so Volvo may have had something different. Unfortunately Hickleys is trade only, so I don't know if they can help as I am not in the motor trade. Check out any Volvo forums to see if they can help at all, otherwise it might need an auto electrictian or dealers help, sorry :(

Codes are mostly from auto electricians these days or dealership as I can only find Hickleys (trade) website on the web now. Cheap sites and eBay sellers no longer seem to be any I can find. If no immobiliser light working then maybe it's a job for an auto electrician anyway as it could be wiring or an ecu or other part playing up. It's always hard to say, I usually search for similar probs on the car forums if there are any for the same make and model. The method I have shown may not even work on your model, turn the key left and right in your door a few times to see if the horn beeps at all. If ignition lights up and car won,t crank, perhaps it is just the starter motor or starter motor solenoid that is kaput. Unfortunately even I have to just best guess somethings sometimes.

Mine not working when u turn it do you take it all the way back to the lock position or just before the lock position? For example if the number is 1813 would u do 1 then to lock position then when u do 8 u take it all the way to the lock position 8 times? And how many times can you try this b4 it it's off? Can it b tried unlimited amount of times till you get it right?
@ifitsgotwheels7 жыл бұрын
hi after locking the car, yes you would unlock once, then lock 8 times, then to unlock 1, then to lock 3 times. Each time you turn the key to lock or unlock return to the central position. Take your time as there is no rush to enter the code. on the car above you can make three attempts after which it's a half hour wait before you can try again. You could try every code, but allowing for the waiting time, it would take about a year to do so, if you make no mistakes and allowing for sleep each night! On the Rover above, the codes were not right for all the cars, some people have found that adding 1 to the second and forth digits corrects this. So if 1813 does not work then 1914 can also be tried. I am not sure what happens when you have a zero in the code as I have not had a car with one, maybe it is simply 10 times for a zero. If all else fails there are intenet services that will supply new fobs, but to do this you usually have to send away the brains/units from the car. Some of these also offer a bypass service so you never need to enter the code again. That sound useful, but unless you then fit an aftermarket alarm/immobiliser, it makes your vehicle much easier to steal. Time for another go.

And now they battery died, I hook up power and the alarm goes off when i open the door. Still no crank, key fobs don't work. Red light on dash blinks. @ifitsgotwheels4 жыл бұрын
Hi I am not sure of modern immobilisers, my car was from the 1990's, I think most modern cars like yours the key communicates with the immobiliser and usually requires an autolocksmith or dealer to reprogram keys to cars, there may well be a bypass method, but this too may require specialist equipement rather than just a code. Ask on your car model forum if you can find one, but with it being so new there may not be an owners forum for your make/model yet.

Does the 6789 code work on all cars or is it model specific?
@ifitsgotwheels5 жыл бұрын
Using a code works on many Rovers, Hondas, Land Rovers and a few others but I personally have only had Rover 800's for many years, so can only confirm it as working on those. But the code is not 6789, not even on the Rover 800 shown (I edited that bit so that the code for my own car does not actually get revealed to all for security reasons, not that anybody would want to pinch an old Rover these days.) The code is normally a 4-digit one though.

Hi dont suppose you know if this works on a 2007 kia sedona 2.9 disel and if so where to obtain the code ??? Many thanks mark and p.s awesome vid very informative ,been struggling for 6 months now with what i think is immo problem thanks again
@ifitsgotwheels4 жыл бұрын
Hi, although I would expect this method to work on earlier Kias with the same 2.5 KV6 engine as fitted in my Rover, I have no idea if it will work on your later 2.9 model. The Hickleys (trade only) website has Kia on it's lists but I don't know what makes/models/years this will refer to. With the Rover codes they were available to buy from cheaper sites and ebay sellers a few years back, but over time those sellers have either been shut down or closed down. Most car makes and models will I think have stopped using this system anyway by 2005, as many of them switched over to using transponder keys with chips inside that usually have to be programmed to the vehicle using specialist equipment. If there is a Kia forum that would be the best place to look an ask for any owners that have had similar problems. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Hey there! I really need your help on this one. Im in college and cant really afford to just buy a new key so I was looking up way to bypass that. My current and only key has no chip in it. though it has worked in the past but recently failed. I called BMW and asked them for the EKA and they had no clue what I was talking about. I Told them what it does and they suggested.. you guessed it.. a new 200$ key. So I was wondering if you might know what it is for bmw if there is one. my model is 2001 bmw x5 4.4i any help is appreciated. ty!
@ifitsgotwheels7 жыл бұрын
Hi, as your vehicle has an unchipped key then I would be looking at the battery, starter motor, and ignition switch. It's always worth testing the battery first as it could simply be too low to supply enough power. Then check the main leads to the battery and earth onto car body and engine are clean and tight. With a multimeter the starter motor wires can be checked to see if a signal is getting through to it but I have come across a vehicle before where the ignition key for some reason would not quite catch the last turn of the barrell and in that one the lives were at the ignition switch but they would not connect! Dash was lit up but could not turn engine. We wired in a starter button to get round it! If the car does indeed have a chip key, you may need to look into EWS (BMW's immobilizer system), it maybe possible to reset it! In any case disconnecting the battery for half and hour and reconnecting it is always worth a try! sorry i don't have a definate answer for it.

1998 chevy cavalier : do you think that this may be the problem with my cavalier? i dont have the original key .. my regulator is faulty and before it was replaced my car just stopped and now wont start everything else checks out fuel pump pressure spark etc.. but the fuel injector pulse seems to be disabled.. the dash started to go wild ...lighting up all the indicators on the panel or it would just shut down (the dash panel) the symptoms would point to the factory alarm system etc. but as i said i got the car used and dont have the original keys
@ifitsgotwheels7 жыл бұрын
I am not sure what is causing your problems, but if you have only just got the car recently, then depending on how long the car/battery has been unused for it can sometimes just be the battery that is causing the problems. Make sure the battery is fully charged, if the car still has the problem check the leads are on tight and that all the earth leads appear to have good clean connections. If it still not starting disconnected the car battery for an hour and reconnect it as sometimes just clearing the memories will work. (although you may need to re enter a code into your radio afterwards (so check you have one first!)). If it is the immobiliser causing this and you don't have the fobs/keys for it. You may have to send your cars brains away to get new ones or have the system bypassed both ways can cost a small fortune. If you don't have any codes for your vehicle then if you can contact the original car dealer for the car, they may supply them to you for free if you provide proof of ownership to them (I got some codes from a Vauxhall dealer in the UK a few weeks ago for free, & took them to the local Vauxhall dealer so they could do work on the car, (the local dealer wanted to charge a fee for getting the codes for me.)) A good alternative is to buy a set of the ecu/ccu/other boxes needed with matched/keys off a scrap car, these can often be found on ebay, and is what I will fit in the car shown in the video above, when I can get the one. Best of Luck.

@@ifitsgotwheels Thanks for your response. I actually have also the same exact colour as your neighbour too!!! I think I have also a solution which may also apply to others: Yesterday, all I did was to clean the key crevices from small bits of dirt and it worked!!!! I opened the doors with the fob and than used the key to start the engine (as per normal for this vehicle). The key did not look or feel dirty at first glance, however, some of its crevices did have a small amount of accumulated dirt/fluff. I cannot guarantee it was not a fluke, but it did work and the immobiliser got disenganged normally, every time (around 8-9 times all together). I have not tried it today as I dont need the car, however, I thought it worth mentioning for others too.

Where do you go to get your code? I have a 2012 Kia Sportage
@ifitsgotwheels6 жыл бұрын
Hi I have no idea when it comes to Kias, I know back in the nineties when my car was made Kia were also using the same engine, but I think since then Kia went it's seperate way. With your vehicle only being 5 years old chances are that it has a transponder chip inside the key which these days usually requires a trip to the dealers as the car and the car require programming together. Although in many cases local locksmiths can often cut & code them for much less. I've trust tried Googling your model and it seems you can get new remotes £42 (not sure how they program in though, so you would have to check) or Immobiliser Transponder Recoding and Replacement Car Key Service but this is a 3-day send away and costs £108. take a look here; www.autotronics.co.uk/car-part-repair/kia/sportage/je-2004/remote-key-fob/ and here; www.autotronics.co.uk/kia-sportage-immobiliser-transponder-recoding-and-replacement-car-key-service.html although that was just from the first result on Google there will be many more companies, unless you can find an easier way on youtube to recode yours....

Hi, I am not sure. It seems most cars that had this sort of system were from the late nineties. Throughout the 1990's I was driving a 1989 GM van which back had no immobilisers so we fitted an after market one with touch key. Having only recently gone back to GM products with a 2011 van (and 2014 car) that has a transponder key, I don't know how any of their vehicles from the 90's or naughties were secured. Only thing I can suggest you try if your vehicle is from the nineties, is to turn the key in the lock a couple of times one way then the next then do it again, if the horn beeps then you just entered incorrectly, if it does not beep then the car probably has a different system on it.

does this work on a 2007 chrysler 300 touring? a recent friend of mind had mechanics throw parts at it but when I checked the codes in the computer one was a P0513 ( immobilizer key code) which is the reason the car isn't starting. Mind you her key is damaged and duct taped to death but it still works in the ignition and what not
@ifitsgotwheels5 жыл бұрын
no sorry, the 300C will have a much more complicated alarm/immobiliser after news the earlier cars were so easy to pinch, they are supposed to buzz when you insert the key, and should not be attempted to start if they don't as after 6 attempts to start the car it will not start and will need towing to the dealers! Worth trying a local locksmith to see if they can code it / a new key in.

I came back off holiday, same couldn't start the car, googled on it a bit and sorted it, take the leads from your car battery off and put a charger on the car battery, remember to take off leads that connects to the car, give it a good 24 hours and put leads back on, mine started straight up, before I did that , there was no life in the car. It just said immobilezed or something. It worked for me, so give it a try

My partner reckons it's the immobilizer, but I don't know. Do you think that this is what could be wrong with my car? & if so where do I find the key code?
@ifitsgotwheels4 жыл бұрын
Hi I am not sure what it can be. Cars are a pain when not working and anything from a relay and wiring to coils & ignition or immobiliser/key could be causing problems. Best thing to do on any modern car (1997 onwards) is to get it checked on OBD2 to see if there are any fault codes present that could give an indication of the cause. If the Commodore uses any codes I would not know, but I think the key will probably be a transponder type with a chip inside it due to the car age. So most likely entering the code a simple way like this would not be possible and more likely a trip to a dealers or visit by an autolocksmith would be required, so check out any Commodore forums to see what probs any other owners have experienced first. The only Vauxhall we have here is a 2014 Astra one which we had to pay the Main Dealer 111GBP to sort 3 years ago for them to program a new key to it. Sorry I can't be of any more help, I have not owned many vehicles.

That's cool. Will it work on my Defender 2.4 2007? Hope so!
@ifitsgotwheels3 жыл бұрын
It will work on earlier Land Rovers, but not sure what years it went too. Probably 99-02 at the latest though as with other Rovers. Land Rovers usually had to start the sequence by turning the key to the Lock position for 5 seconds before entering the code. Try locking position for 5 seconds, then unlock lock unlock lock unlock, if you get a beep then it would seem you can enter a code this way as you have just entered a wrong one. ...unless your code is 1111! Trying it won't do it any harm, but doubt it will work this time...

Hi Sir, Thanks for the information. My car is Grand Cherokee 1998, ZJ model. How to find the EKA?
@ifitsgotwheels3 жыл бұрын
Hi, your car does not use an EKA. We have a 97 TJ Wrangler here and that uses a SKIM Immobiliser, you may have a SKIM too, but we are sure they went on Cherokee from 99, and think you will have the earlier VTSS system. Our Jeep has an immobiliser, the VTSS may just be an alarm rather than alarm & immobiliser we are not too sure. We do have a bypass switch on the clutch pedal, which prevents the vehicle from being started without a foot on the clutch, but your car is most likely an auto anyway. Search for VTSS or SKIM or try the Jeep Forums or see if this page helps, best of luck.. www.justanswer.com/jeep/2urk3-disable-factory-alarm-1993-jeep-grand-cherokee.html

@ifitsgotwheels4 жыл бұрын
Mine left me stranded at the shops too, then I bought my EKA code online and once I got the hang of using it, then I made this vid to help others. The EKA codes were supposed to be on a card with the handbooks, but rarely does an owner have them! There were a few online sites selling owners their codes cheap (some even sold them on ebay) but these all appear to have been shut down/gone out of business now, apart from a site called Hickleys. The trouble is Hickleys will not sell the codes to the public only to the motor trade, so it means getting the dealer or an auto electrician now just to get a code. In the past the original dealer for the car would often still have a record with the code and supply it for free to those with proof of ownership and i.d. Most modern cars are on a different system now using transponder keys (keys or fobs with a small chip in them), again these need a dealer or autoelectrian to program them into the car. If your car was built after 1997ish then most vehicles should have an OBD2 / OBD II conection to which anyone can hook up a fault code reader. A fault code can often help diagnose what/where the problem is. Anyone you may know into cars, might have one they can connect up for you. Sometimes a remote needs resyncing with a car, the method to do this can vary for make and model, sometimes you have to press button a few times or two together, or even have ignition on or off, or even press or enter a code via the brake pedal. My car was simply press lock or unlock button (I can't remember which) 5 times quickly in a row. For other makes and models you would have to ask on relevant forums. Sorry I can't help more as I have not owned many cars just a few old Rovers and now a couple of Vauxhalls. Vauxhall charged me £111 for a key to be programed in on an Astra.

Do you have a EKA for a 2002 Hyundai XG350or where can I obtain it?
@ifitsgotwheels7 жыл бұрын
Hi I do not know if the Hyundai has one but to reset the main ECU you should disconnect the battery earth for at least 5 minutes then depress the foot brake for 20 seconds - this will completely discharge the ECU's capacitors via the brake lights. Then reconnect the car battery. This method is normally used after any mod to get the car to relearn and adapt to your style of driving and is best done when the engine is hot, although if yours is not starting you will just have to try this on a cold engine. Worth a try to see if it will help though as the immobiliser might be partly controlled by the main ECU.

The codes for the Key itself or the Locks/Ignition Barrell will often contain a letter(s) though so are you sure you have the right code!? Citroen may have there own system. If so maybe there is a way to enter it, or, perhaps your letters are all before F, in which case it may be hexidecimal so A=11, through to F=16. Just guessing here though, plucking at straws really. Hi on your Nissan 350z if your remote(s) has 'MODEL NO:ASTU15' on the back of it then you should be able to reprogram it back into your car using this method; 1. Open and Close Door. 2. Lock car using the LOCK button found inside the car (not the one on the remote). 3. Insert and Remove the Key (completely) from the Ignition Barrel about 6 - 10 times within 10 seconds. 4. Hazard lights will flash when inserted enough times. 5. Put key back in Ignition and turn ignition ON. 6. Press LOCK button on Remote Key Fob. 7. Hazard lights will flash. [If programing in more remotes; press UNLOCK button found inside car, then press LOCK button on next remote, do this for each extra remote.] 8. Remove Key from Ignition. 9. UNLOCK doors using button found inside car. 10. Open and Close Car door. Your remote(s) should now be fully functional. Enjoy.

Hello sir, I have a similar problem with my Merc c270cdi, one morning car decided not to start, engine cranks over but doesn't start. Pretty damn sure it is the immobilizer. Changed the battery in key fob (only posses 1key),still nothing. Was thinking of trying to bypass the immobilizer and came across your video, so maybe you have the answer?! Regards Alex
@ifitsgotwheels5 жыл бұрын
Hello. Normally the immobiliser when doing it's job correctly would stop you completely from allowing the engine to crank (although on some vehicles it might just try for a second then stop) so if the car will crank none-stop then although it could still be the immobiliser it could ba anything else too. Best thing to do is to check to see if there are any fault codes on your vehicle as they can often reveal the location of the problem. Almost all vehicles built since 1997 are fitted with on board diagnosis systems which can be read by connecting an OBD II (OBD 2) reader too. You may have to buy an OBDII reader, but these can be found on the internet for just a couple of pounds upwards. Although dragging the car to the dealers would be one option buying a fault code reader may help resolve your problems without having the expense or hassle of that. Any fault codes generated will just be letters and numbers, but the meaning of all of them are standardised for all makes and models, so you can seach easily for fault codes on google to find their meanings. Of course you can always try asking in a Mercedes Forum for similar problems with other owners as this can often be the quickest way to resolve unkown and hard to find, but turn out to be common problems that others already have the answers too. Sorry i have no experience of Mercs, Best of luck with your car.

Hi I am not sure. I have a 2014 Astra which it does not work on. I had to send it to the Vauxhall Dealers the other week to get a key programmed to it. They managed to do this, but then realised they had ordered the wrong key cut, and it would not work the ignition, so they had to re-order it, and do it again. It cost £111.18 after getting a discount!
@pxnorama51517 жыл бұрын
is that the dealer getting the code and programming the key for you though?
@ifitsgotwheels7 жыл бұрын
After searching on the internet it seems the supplying dealers keep a copy of the codes for cars that they sell. I managed to find out which Vauxall dealer supplied the car new. I gave them a phone call and they supplied me with the Key code and Immobiliser code. This saved having to pay my local dealer to around £25 to get them. The original dealer will usually like to see a copy of receipt or V5, but as they were so far away, they said send them doc by email and a few minutes later I had the codes. He said they do not have the wheel locking nut codes, but thankfully I had that one in with the locking nut key. My local dealer used the codes I obtained to order a fob with the key blank ready cut for the car. I then took it the car to the dealer once this had arrived. I gave them the key I had so they could put both the old key and new one into the car, which would 'take around 45 minutes'. ...only 45 minutes later, they realised the key they had cut did not fit/turn ignition! So they re-ordered again, this time taking the codes I gave them correctly, and a few days later got one ordered in and then after taking car to them once more, '45 minutes' later, it worked. I think if they had got things right the first time they would have charged me more for it!

I would try at the local Honda dealers. Although if you know the Original supplying dealer, they are always the best bet. Usually you have to provide i.d. and proof of ownership, and a good dealer will have the records and even let you do this by email too. Local dealers will normally want you to pop in with the docs and will usually charge a fee, but original dealer will often supply without charge (here in the UK anyway!). Some Honda's have codes entered via the brake pedal instead but I am not sure what models use which system or what any changeover years would be.

Most cars after 2005 won't use this system. around that time most makes had changed over to transponders with a chip in the remote control or key. Normally these require programming into the car brain by an auto locksmith or car dealers. These can not normally be bypassed but try any Hyundai owners club or forum to see if there is a bypass or removal option.

Hi your Hummer will most likely use a transponder key/remote with a chip inside that communicates with a receiver around the ignition switch. Most vehicles after 2005 use transponder chips and I would Guess most GMs did too, these usually require someone with equipment to program them to the car, like the dealer or an autolocksmith although I can't be sure what your vehicle does indeed require. Great vehicles rarely see any these days. Only Hummers I have been in was a Military Humvee in USA (20odd years ago), and a Hummer H1 in the UK (15-20 years ago). The H1 owner took us for a short drive in it, said there were only 6 of the in the UK back then. Got loads of attention. There was an owners club for them back then, not sure if it's still running. Hey i have a 2006 Nissan Altima and i have the same problem as you! I don't have the remote! Where can i find the code?
@ifitsgotwheels7 жыл бұрын
Hi your Nissan uses Nissan's Nats System. I do not think it has an EKA code as it uses transponder keys (keys with a chip inside (& the ignition barrel with have a coil wire receiver)). I think the only code you can puchase is NATSCode which is capable of calculating the 4 digit Nissan pin code required to program transponder keys to a wide range of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. But without the programming equipement this would be something only of use to dealers and garages. and we all know the cost of having a dealer reprogram keys is expensive. When hooking up an OBDII reader to the system most Nissans will usually throw out a P1610 fault code, which is Key not reconized by the nats! If you have an original key, then it should start on the 3rd attempt (or more!), as the system uses the 3rd cycle after a failed attempt before it will start. If you have a snapped/damaged original key, the transponder from it held near the ignition with a copy key should still be able to start the car. without a working transponder key, i do not now how to bypass your system, the bypass devices on ebay that I can see all seem to ones used with remote starting systems, but fitting one of those would probably end up 2-3 times more expensive than a trip to the dealers for a key. hope you can sort it. thanks.

@ifitsgotwheels4 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the key may need resyncing to the immobilizer. I am not sure how this is done on your VW but there are a couple of things worth trying. One is to press lock or unlock buttons several times in a row , try each one separately and try with ignition on and ignition off. Check your vehicle's handbook as often it will have the way the remote should be resynced in there. For our 2012 Polo to synchronise a key. Fold out the flip key. Whilst close to the vehicle press the unlock button on the remote, then within 60 seconds unlock the vehicle using the key bit. After this the remote should work again. It does mention in our Polo manual that the Cover of the drivers door handle may need removing! Sometimes a battery reset for half hour works wonders too but only disconnect your battery if you have radio and other codes you may need. Other than that hit the VW forums before getting in an auto locksmith to sort. If you switch the old ignition back in and it works with that then maybe the ignition forms part or the immobiliser coded parts, this may mean the dealer needs to progam it in. Best of luck.

@ifitsgotwheels3 жыл бұрын
Hi it sounds to me that you are entering the code in the correct way as the car has acknowledged this with the beep. Using this method I only managed to switch the immobiliser off on about half the Rovers I had! Although the cars were supposed to come with the codes on a card in the handbook, many get lost over the years. I know that when you could buy the codes off guys on ebay and the forums years back (I don't know anyone supplying them now) many of the codes in the lists they had were incorrect, so if you purchased the code somewhere it might not be correct! In many cases there was a simple fix to this and you just had to add one to the 2nd and 4th digits of the code, so if you have 4268 then also try 4369 (adding 1 to the 2nd and 4th digits). If you have any zeros, or a nine as the 2nd or forth digit for which you would replace with a zero, do 10 turns for these. so for 4269 also try 4, 3, 6, 10! Even the +1 method may not work though as some cars when they went in for work on them got new codes, and therefore would not match either the original card or list of numbers! Also some MGs seem to require 10 minutes between attempts according to some old forum uses, but I think this was for 2003 onwards cars so should not effect yours. On Land Rovers instead of just locking the door at the start you would keep the key turned to the lock position for 5+ seconds to get the car into the code entry phase, I don't think your MG is like this (as yours does beep at the end) but anything is worth a try. Best of luck, I hope you can get your code to work if not try thr MG clubs and forums as somebody there may well be able to help. Thanks for watching.

Hi it seems to work mostly on some Rovers, Hondas, Jags, Land Rovers, Kias and maybe a few other, but all mostly from mid/late nineties to around 2005. Some othe makes / models I believe entered their codes via the brake pedal, others like Nissan had their own systems and some will of course had none. I have only ever tried it on Rovers myself. Most more modern cars switched over to keys with transponder chips inside instead (some of these may have overide systems others required a red or master key for reprogramming). The codes used to be easy to find and buy online and on ebay for around £2, but all the sites/sellers I knew of, seemed to get closed down, so unless you have code card in the handbook(s), or can get it from the cars (original) supplying dealer, then you have to use local dealer or an autolocksmith. If they can not access any lists themselves a lot will probably use the trade only Hickleys codes website to get then, so I have no idea as to what price anyone charges these days.

Hi I cant find any solution online for my 2005 Mazda Tribute 2WD V6 (ford engine) I got stuck in the middle of nowhere. Already tried replacing the ignition switch and nothing. Is there a key code for my car?
@ifitsgotwheels4 жыл бұрын
Most cars from early 2000s onwards have a small (transponder) chip in the ignition key that a reacts with the receiver coil at/around the ignition switch. These usually require specialist equipment to reprogram. I do not know Mazda, but some fords had a different system with some sort of red or master key that the car must have. Auto locksmiths will normally be cheaper than dealers but look for an online service too as there are sometimes guys that you can send ECUs off too that can fix these issues. Best of luck.

Vary good video but where do I get my EKA number. I have contacted the dealership and given them my details and the VIN number but they say that I must bring the car to them. I would be happy to do so but I am a frail pensioner and the car wont start. I have no means of towing it to them. Please help as I am desperate and need my car for medical purposes. It was fine until the battery was disconnected.

Hi I am not sure if any Honda's had this feature even though Honda & Rover shared a lot of other bits. There were some Hondas that came with a 5 digit code on a tag, but I think that was just a code for ordering replacement keys. Honda seem to have cars with two keys the same, cars with red keys, cars with valet keys etc. I would not even know where to start. Your car and this one would be of the same age, but I would need another Honda or Rover owner's help with this one! Hopefully one will be along soon.. ...anyone..?

the funny thing is that I didn't have to go through all the process- is just that I own a car I don't know (I inherited it from my late husband) and had no idea about this security sys.; I always use the mechanical key- last night started raining and I used the remote; there you go- today the car won't start; my legs went numb! I cannot afford to fix this car, really...after I watched your video I just locked/unlocked with the key and problem was fixed!!! now you got me wonder- I have no EKA number (maybe my husband had?!?); if it comes to that I will have to pay the dealer to find it for me or try your method; I will save your channel; do you know OTHER things about P38's ???? (I am doomed to be ripped off by mechanics because I am a woman so at least I would try to identify the problem- if I have one in the future....) In any case, thx a lot!
@ifitsgotwheels7 жыл бұрын
no i know nothing of the P38's but when I am stuck I always revert to Google and KZbin for the answers first. but when I can't find the info or it's not very easy to understand, then sometimes I make these videos. They are as much to help me the next time as they are to help everybody else! thanks for watching.

Does it also work for Peugeot 206 2008model automatic transmission?
@ifitsgotwheels5 жыл бұрын
Probably too new. & Most cars it seems to work on have a separate remote fob rather than a remote key. I don't know what systems Peugeot's have, even though I did have a 106 zest 2 myself back in the day. Great little car.
