Hello Phil and Karen. Those IBC totes were definitely a score. The chunks that you put in them would be perfect to use next year in the wood burning stove. You can bring those totes right into the garage. Glad to see the logs are building up, it’s like you said “Money in the Bank”. There are still plenty of us subscribers that enjoy the videos. We have 7 totes and kept them for emergency water storage but separated them recently and are using them for storage of junk and cutoffs, which we use in our fireplace. When storms hit, it is good for you and for the tree care guys. They need to get rid of it quickly so they can move on and the people need to get back to normal. It is good to make something good out of something bad. Man, those mini skid steers look like they are worth the money.

we're pretty lucky with the wood they give us. we're taking the Split Force back May 2 when we go to Vermont for the Northeaster Logging Expo. It's definitely come in handy for us by being able to move it around the yard. If we don't do lunch, we're usually snacking! lol

That’s some nice looking stuff. I got the rest my free blue spruce split up today. Glade have that trashy stuff done. I do wood to keep me busy. Nice got some tanks. I buy mine for 25. Last year anyway. I going to stack all blue spruce in them. That make good wood for your boiler or shop heater. If got room. I burn 12 stacked high every year.

yeah not a fan of blue spruce either but it burns! That's not a bad price on the totes, they're outrageous in our area so the free ones were definitely a bonus! We'll be burning those chunks in the shop and our wood boiler at home for sure. Better than burning the nice stuff that we can sell

I think that big storm we got will provide wood for us for a long time . Ya not very often we get to pick an choose the wood we get . Them lil machines can lift a lot but there lacking counter weight so every now and then I hop on when there loading the real big logs .

Really nice of them to get you all 10 IBC totes, but I think you all need about 100 more for starters! 🤣 I'm going to pick up 10 IBC totes on Monday. I don't really need them right now, but when they call to get rid of them, I go get them. If you all were a little closer, I'd give you some, but NC is a little far from you all. 🙃 Tree service guy is taking trees down Monday as well. I want be able to go get the wood, but my father will for his stockpile. Keep up the great work and making us all smile! 👍😁

@AllenFamilyFirewood If there are any material dye places near you, they are always getting rid of them. Doesn't hurt to call them and ask if there is any in your area. They dye is biodegradable and not bad for the environment. I have rinsed them out, cut the tanks in half, drilled holes in the bottoms and tops, and put them on pallets to use for cutoffs, shorts, and odd balls. 👍😁

Any update on your firewood bundles sitting out in the sun?? If so how are they holding up?

We actually checked them the other day and they're doing great! They're all in tact. One of the pallets isn't covered and even those are fine. The ones that we have covered are just as good, and dryer because they haven't been exposed to the elements. It's looking good so far!

We would love that, but the logs we get from the tree services aren't all processer-friendly. Wish we could go that route, it would be way better for production, but it is what it is.

Come on, who gets paid to haul away wood? In other parts of the country most of that stuff would be turned into chips. Phil I'm pretty sure you will keep taking it if it's offered. I mean as long as you have the space. Yeah I'm sure you really have to figure in your time and the cost of gas in the truck but I'd be willing to bet you still come out ahead.👍👍

Thanks! We will never buy wood because the profit just isn't there. We've figured it out six ways to Sunday and there's no profit for us if we buy the wood. Fortunately having had a tree service for many years we have a lot of contacts and free wood is readily available. The only thing that would increase that is having a pulp truck, but...we do wood for a living! lol Thanks as always for watching!
