The best thing about this was the amount of kindness the trainer has for his client- there was no shame involved. When I began working out, the hardest part was feeling like a failure for not being able to keep up with fit people. It takes time to get there! I'm happy for trainers who encourage people to go at the pace they're ABLE to go, without making them feel as though they're lagging behind :)

Grayanotoxin: I just saw a skinny man making a larger man keep up with him. I would be applauding the client actually. I just hate it when I see toned trainers doing this to their client. It is about the client isn't it? If they're big, then you start off small and build it up. And preferably without a camera watching the whole thing, unless of course, the client agreed. I just hate this kind of thing.

Thank you! So many "beginner" workouts assume you can do sit ups, pull ups, and pull-ups. It's an aerobic workout tieing your shoes for some.. This is going to help a lot of people. Some of us are obese, some of us are old, and some are both.

You can use a chair for that, just use your legs as little as possible on a pullup. My free standing bar has a bar at the bottom I use sometimes.

So true. My arms are too weak right now to do a pull up or a push up. My back hurts to bad for a crunch or sit up. People think that's an excuse , but its not, it's the truth. I need something like this ,along with a good diet to work my way up. Sometimes ,trying to force an obese person to keep doing exercises they aren't physically ready for causes them to quit.
@Beachfitrob

@@ashleys_space Consistency and honestly challenging yourself is key. Whatever that level is, as long as you push yourself.
@sc301969
@sc301969 4 жыл бұрын
@@ashleys_space Working up to those movements by pulling against your body weight, or pushing against your body weight - to tense and flex the muscles is a great start and over time, they will strengthen. Try push-ups against a wall and gradually move down. Lying on your back and lifting your bent legs will work your core, and build strength, you can extend legs further away to progress the loading. The client here was obviously strong enough to perform the movements safely - nobody needed for "force" him and they would have dialled back the exercises to his level of ability. Working out alone is hard sometimes because you feel you should be able to do what you see on the video, but you may not be as strong / flexible / fit as that individual.

This is the first work out that actually looks like it works and is doable for me. I've almost all but given up on myself physically. It has caused me to become a hermit because it's embarrassing to let ppl see how large I've become. It's lonely and my depression is unbearable at times. I'm glad I found this. Committing to this 5 days a week for 2 months... then I will make a new commitment. Might seem like a small goal but it's huge for me. Going to take pictures weekly. Maybe one day I'll see something different.

There's a lot of workouts that are low to no impact out there. Also you don't have to do the same range of motion. It's 70% diet, 30% exercise anyway. I don't even like the word diet. Eating plan, or meal prep to have healthy options always at hand, or even for fast food there are worlds of difference in choice even at Mcdonald's. Mostly those places it's portion and sauces/cheese/bacon/mayo/etc.

You can do crunches and modify your range of motion. Just sitting up a few inches and contracting the muscles. I modify my moves all the time in my workouts depending on my energy level. It's about time under tension. The biggest barrier is people just not CONSISTENTLY doing a workout they can and will do. I workout 6 days a week. I make the time, even if that time of day sucks. RARELY do I miss a day over months of time then I do a double some days. Mental.

I just found this workout video. I love how positive he is. The hardest part of starting to workout when obese is finding workouts that make feel like 'Yes!!! I can do this!!!' This is only the second workout I have found that I have not quit after the warm up. Thank you so much for sharing this. I will be sharing this with the people I care about. Thank you to Brian for sharing your workout. You have shown us all that we can do this too. You inspire me to get moving too.

FINALLY!!! A workout for us fat folk. I'm tired of looking around finding all these workouts that want you jumping around or on the floor trying to hold up all your weight. I am duck footed and overweight, so there is absolutely no way my fat ass is doing a plank for 30 seconds or whatever. I have saved this video to my Watch Later list and I will definitely be trying this out in the mornings after I have had my coffee.

I really appreciate how you motivated your client with your kind words, how well you explained the exercises and how patient and emphatic and understanding you were! It was very sensitive of you to take into account that overweight bodies don’t „work“ like the bodies that are seen as the norm. I‘m really motivated right now!

Thank you so much ....my daughter is way overweight and I am getting older and have slowed way down due to health problems and have had some weight gain so this is going to help me get back in to moving better and lose some weight I have been so scared for my daughter she is a little smaller than your friend. and she has tried to do moves that other workouts do but they are way to hard for her. Thank you for really caring for the Obese person it's about time people stop faking that they care and actually give a damn I hope you keep helping the large person and give more workouts to them again thank you for being so amazing of person to do this.

I get this a lot. Basically, I think there is no 'overweight' person workout as long as you're physically well. You can just modify existing workouts. Pushups? Hands and knees, don't go all the way down or keep your knees closer. Pullups? Use a chair or stool or resistance band to duplicate the motion. Legs? Don't use weights, change your range of motion. We just did chest, back and legs, the 3 biggest groups. Use lighter weights, etc. But in all cases I just find this to be true: people just don't work out consistently, don't eat right (that's 70% of getting fit), and don't have a plan for eating/working out. Here's both: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m36mhpKYrsuVi5Y Just made that.

That was the one thing I couldn't stand about P90x...the guy was always like, alright, get into this position, and do something in a certain way, not taking into account, that some of us are 300 pounds or so, and it's not exactly possible for some of us to do it all correctly, due to our present body shapes.

It's also not about shape as much as engaging the same muscles. I sometimes modify a little here and there to engage differently. Lighter weight but more extension or less extension etc. If you feel it, and can get sore doing it, it's progress.

I normally don’t take the time to comment on too many things these days, this one however deserved it. Sometimes we struggle through life doing the best we can especially if we’ve gone through great emotional turmoil and especially if it has come on relentlessly for the last seven years. For somebody like myself and somebody like the awesome gentleman in this video, this is a lifesaver. Thank you for making this video and for treating this man with grace and dignity the way he deserves because you never know somebody’s story and you never know why they are the way they are. This is exactly the approach that should be taken to anyone who is looking to better themselves but is still in a vulnerable state. Well done, well done. Thank you for making me feel healthier today and more importantly hopeful for the future. Many blessings to you and yours.

One of my fav videos so far. Ive been battling depression and a few other things the last few years. I started my workout today. I am currently 421 lbs. I have cut 90% sugar from my diet and cut portions in about half. I notice I move and breath a bit better than most men and women my age and size but still strugle more than most obviously. I found updowns to be good for me also. I really like the routine you found this man and how you treat him. Alot of people expect way to mich from us. Great video man. Brian keep up the good work.

Just don't starve yourself. :) Body Beast (and many others) have a calorie calculator. I hear super low calorie stories from people like under 1,000 and that is NOT good for you. NO ONE, not even the tiniest woman needs to be under something like 1250-1500 IIRC and that's for really small women.

@@jontemple7977 YW. For example, when I was counting calories and doing the original BodyBeast (bodybeast.beachfitrob.com) , my intake was supposed to be IIRC 3300 calories. I'm 6' tall and about 185. That's not starving. On the depression aspect: (AGAIN I AM NOT A DOCTOR) weights will generate all sorts of hormones and endorphins, which will improve your mood. Many benefits I won't go into here. Another reason why I recommend resistance training for everyone.

I appreciate Brian being in the video and the trainers positivity and understand. Because of that I have felt very modivated and have started doing these daily. A lot of work out videos show someone already in shape but here the trainer is adjusting to Brian's pace and according to what works best for his size and physical capability. Even though they are working out together it feels very personable and I feel like I'm working out with them instead of listening to some robot say I'm doing great. I was at 210 and now I'm at 192.

On the other hand, if you're already making good progress with a routine you're already following, then carry right on..... I've been doing this every day for a week now. I've had to try advancing some of the moves because they weren't giving me that burn anymore. But besides that, thanks for getting me started on my weight loss journey! I don't think I ever would've started if I hadn't found this video. All the other "beginner" workouts were way too intense for me. Hopefully I'll be able to do them soon enough though. Exercising isn't hard, it's the eating change that's been the hardest for me. I haven't been able to control myself at all... I've always ran to food for... well anything. Bad feelings, good feelings, boredom... I hope I'll be able to make healthier eating choices soon. Shoutout to anyone who sees this, you can do it! The first 2 weeks are the hardest! If you make it through them and actually see the results of your effort, it'll be hard to ever go back to how you were living before. Just keep going, everything will be worth it in the end.

@@BilsonBoi One easy way is just to precook chicken /fish/ shrimp and just have big bowls in the fridge and a bag of the salad greens. Frozen fruit works IMHO too if fresh is more difficult. I often cook like a 5 lb bag of chicken breasts just to have. If you get hungry you can just literally reach in and grab one. :) My son is the one to watch.
