Not but 2 hours ago I was thinking of an e-bike that would double as a indoor exercise bike with an onscreen tv experience that includes a cycling tour. Or an e-bike that can be used indoors to power your tv while pedaling, or a blender for margaritas lol. Fun video. Great job

Like your channel. 3 things: 1. I have commuted on my pedal assist Specialized Vado nearly everyday for 4 yrs, rain or shine. It costs about 1 cent or 2 per day to charge it for avg 10 mile commute. 2. Almost NO American has to worry about “eating more calories” nor “budget for MORE food” to ride a bike.🙄 3. Yes, at 5:40 those are the French Alps. I do a spin class about 4 days a week with a KZbin video playing of an Alps ride.🏔️Usually France, Swiss, Italy. Good video, interesting concept.👍😉

There's a small dynamo in the pedal crank case that app puts in-circuit in exercise bike mode.

There has to be a way to setup regen when riding. This would most likely be a clutch locked motor. Major waste if not. Regen permits much faster travel times, because you are not consuming brake pad wear when slowing down for turns/stops, so you can zoom through side streets safely.

Regen is only (currently) possible with hub-based motors. Also, most braking is done by the front wheel, while most hub-based motors are mounted on the rear. So yes, it's possible, but not at all optimal on most e-bikes. Having said that, I totally agree that it would be the way to go, and I think on the larger/heavier e-bikes (I call them e-mini-bikes) we may possibly start to see this. However, the actual amount of electricity regained would be pretty small.

@@dperreno its all about brake pad management. More regen energy is gained the crazier you accelerate, and so its also about making urban trips (usually short with battery capacity to spare) faster and safer. Regen doesn't lock wheel up, so rear brake feathering action is just about slowing down.

@@mr.monitor. IMO the word "gimmick" just means a way to get noticed above the rest. The following sentence after using the word states that I see real potential in this. I can see this being especially helpful for those with disabilities or rehabilitating, that either can't or won't start riding on public roads (yet). You can start working out at home and when fit enough and comfortable enough take it on the streets.

I bought my ebike last fall and over winter (I'm in western Canada), I had it on a stand for exercising. The stand has a magnetic resistance roller but I had to do some fudging to get it to fit on the stand and then fudging to get it off and ready to ride again. Something like this bike is exactly what I was wanting. Wish that it came out a year earlier.

I think if you live in an area with harsher weather, this could be even better. If you have too much snow you can still ride and hey build up the battery for spring lol

I use my Eahora X7 that has regenerative braking on a training stand to charge the battery. There is no app to control the braking, it kicks on at 14 mph in PAS level 0. There is a short vid on my channel. BTW, finding/getting a training stand that will fit a fat tire ebike is not easy. I'd be interested in getting just the training stand but not the bike. They need to make the regenerative braking work while riding and a controller that doesn't require the app.

Is it possible to connect the drive train to a separate battery so that battery would charge while riding on the road, and you just have to swap out the batteries and have endless range as long as you use pedal assist, Im pretty sure some company will invent that soon.

That won't work, you'd use more energy than you put in. It would only slow you down.

well on my bike if i go fast enough without a battery i can start the display. well serves no purpose but got me thinking it might be putting power back altough i rode very fast for that to happen so no thanks

That bike needs fenders. No way. I'm "chancing" money on a Kickstarter project with no warranties, especially for an ebike. I'd rather buy from a bike shop or a known direct seller.
