this video is lovely and helps a lot! unfortunately i was so frustrated to find out the bass pitch can't be changed that I'm going with a different model. but it's thanks to you that i didn't purchase the wrong one for what i was looking for 😂

Yeah not being able to change the bass pitch is a bit of a bummer. Because of that, I think it pairs really well with something like the PO-128 Megaman, or the PO-35 Speak. Or, get a PO-33 and sample the bass notes haha. Thanks for watching!

Ohh interesting, Didn't know it could change the bassline and melodies and stuff, I htought it was all on drone. Didn't even know it was independent of patterns. really cool stuff. Sounds like the PO 20 will be my fav next to the po 33 :D

OK...I did my listen 1st time and play along 2nd time. I've really got a grip on this Arcade! I bought one used for a great price but was a little disappointed with the chord feature, so I moved on. I really have this thing under control. Lol great tutorial, I think your chord/arcade tutorials are the best. Love the love the chart, thanks to AmsterdamAussie for posting (I hope that's the right person) Hey thanks for another fantastic KZbin!

That chart is so awesome! Glad you've got a handle on the Arcade though, it's quite the beast. Every once in awhile notes will behave differently than how I think they should given the chord, but I think that almost adds to the experience!

Great overview of the chords feature!! But I have one question about it. Is it possible to have chords lasting less than a pattern? I mean, by default one chord last 16 beats. Is there any way to have chords changing every 8 or 4 beats if I want them to progress not equally?
@FreeBeat
@FreeBeat 11 ай бұрын
Sadly there is not :( You should check out the Woovebox though, it's got a similar chord follow section, but MUCH more flexible!

I'm racking my brain trying to figure out how to make that sidechain noise elsewhere... but I think by and large I'm looking at doing that with a compressor and all that noise... idk I was hoping I could get away with assigning an LFO to the attack to maybe get this effect? Any thoughts?

I've got nothing haha, sorry! I'm completely lost when it comes to sidechaining.

These features seem cool, but if you want to make custom bass lines or melodies, but also have chords, does that mean it will always just default to the notes in the chords? I don't own one(I have a PO-33) but I'm just trying to decide between a few different pocket operators and this seems a little restrictive but also cool at the same time. Trying to understand if it can do both or will it always "fix" the notes if you're using tht chord function?
@mickypoo4622
@mickypoo4622 2 жыл бұрын
SO, does this mean that each chord you chain in the chord sequence corresponds to whatever pattern is chained in the selected pattern sequence? i.e. 1st pattern, 1st chord, 2nd pattern, 2nd chord etc. until 128th pattern, 128 chord. OR, put another way, if I selected a 6 pattern chain of patterns 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4 and a chord chain of C, D, E, F, G, A then it will give me pattern 1 with C, pattern 1 with D, pattern 2 with E, pattern 2 with F, pattern 3 with G and pattern 4 with A. Is that correct? I'm just trying to make what appears to be quite complicated to explain sound rather more simple to understand. Many Thanks. BTW, I know that chord progression is not at all very musical but just an easy example to use.
@FreeBeat
@FreeBeat 2 жыл бұрын
No, the pattern and chord chains are completely independent of each other. If you sequenced six different patterns it would play them all based on the current cord that was selected. You chain them both separately. It's actually pretty flexible once you wrap your head around it!
@mickypoo4622
@mickypoo4622 2 жыл бұрын
@@FreeBeatThen I have yet to "wrap my head around it" as I just don't understand. BUT this PO 20 aspect of chaining with patterns and chords is just so confusing. I attempted to explain it simply myself, but you are now saying that is wrong? SO let's put it another way! I chain together 128 patterns and 128 chords. How does that work together?
@FreeBeat
@FreeBeat 2 жыл бұрын
@@mickypoo4622 So you know how you hold down the pattern button to chain patterns together? Hold the chord button and then pads 1-16 become 16 different chords. You can then chain chords just like you would chain patterns. Each chord will change at the start of each time through a pattern, just like each pattern will change at the end of a pattern. To sequence 128 patterns, hold down pattern and simply press 128 patterns, in the order you want them to chain. Same exact thing with chords, but you hold the chord button instead :)
@mickypoo4622
@mickypoo4622 2 жыл бұрын
@@FreeBeat OK I think I've got it now. Maybe?! The 128 patterns sequence and the 128 chord sequence are completely independent of each other but just run alongside each other, so the 1st Pattern selected corresponds to the 1st chord selected, all the way up to pattern 128 and chord 128??? I hope I have finally grasped that?!
