I've been enjoying your cam videos. I really hope you make more cnc/cam videos with the latest version of Freecad in the future. Thanks

You really make great videos that are easy to follow along! I've watched all your videos in the last couple of weeks and gone from zero CAM experience to making actual parts on my small 3018. If you ever feel the urge to make another tutorial It's really hard to find info about pockets/3D pockets. Keep up the good work!

This is great! I've been using Camotics for simulating for awhile already, but having it integrated so it sets everything up is really cool!

I have been as well. Using a Buildbotics controller for my mill.

This was really helpful while diving deeper into the Path Tool. Thanks for the video.

Excellent video. I wasn't aware of the path sanity tool - very helpful. Including the information from path sanity as comments into the post processor output would be quite helpful (overview of stock tools, etc...)

I always use the iternal simulator! Recently, it showed that zig-zag+offset is way better than zig-zag alone (I think about the perimeter like a sawtooth). Sometimes Camotics doesn't like the g-code, maybe due to the post-processing, I still have to find the real cause; it's great to hear about the integration! Anyway thanks for showing/refreshing all these little useful details!

Great video. I think it's time for me to jump into this.

This looks awesome! I would love to have that! But Camotics is still on 1.2.0. Is there any precompiled version of 1.2.2 or 1.3.0 available somewhere? I saw that there is a guide for building on Windows, but this looks rather daunting :D

Hello! Can you please tell me if the custom stock shape actually works? I've tried to use it. It shows the shape of the body I'm using as stock, but the path always extends as it was cutting from a bound box. This leads to a lot of air cutting above the actual stock. Thank you!
@sliptonic2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it works. Though it may not be fully integrated into every operation and feature. For example, I tested it with millface and you have to tell the operation to use the stock shape. Also, the stepdown values are not automatically copied over.

Firstly this is a great introduction to toolpaths, thanks for posting. This is very helpful for me. As I am new to freecad and milling. For drilling do you use a drill bit or the end mill itself? How do you introduce a tool change operation in gcode? I want to do the drilling operation first, then do the tool change to milling, his can I do this?

I need to perform a t slot side cut, it's a styrofoam block to be cast later. I know there's a 'slitting saw' template in the tool library that could be used but I'm a little lost on which operation to use to make this work. I was trying to use LeadInOut dressup to fix the startpoint but the simulation always fails. What would be the correct way to perform this operation?
@sliptonic2 жыл бұрын
Overhanging cuts aren't really supported but you can probably get there anyway. Try a slot operation. Select a single edge like the long edge on one side. Extend the start and end point as necessary and make the stepdown large enough so you have just a single pass. Not ideal, but it work in my test.

Версия FreeCAD 0.21? Это как я понял сторонняя сборка и существует под Linux? В разделе Path я вижу некоторые функции отсутствующие в версии 0.20.2
@sliptonic Жыл бұрын
Version 0.21 is the development version. We just entered feature freeze. It should be released in a few weeks

Is Freecad version .20 good for everything you talked about?
@sliptonic2 жыл бұрын
Everything except the Camotics integration. That's new in the development branch

@@sliptonic I caught were you said that on a second video view. Camotics looks very nice, and I'm looking forward to the non-compile version 1.2.2. Thanks.

Thanks for your work! Your video series about Path help me to start work with CNC. Could you explain somthing about "Cut mode"? When I attemp to change cut mode to Climb or Conventional alwayse get the same result. I want to process job in one cut mode (because low hardness of my CNC) but tools always go in both directions...

This question would be better asked on the forum and please attach a project file. Here I don't know what kind of operation you're creating, your version of FreeCAD, etc. It's possible that there's a bug.

your free cad 0.21 looks way different to mine, I don't have many of the features you see there. I'd start videos with describing your installation of free cad ;)
@sliptonic Жыл бұрын
There are many ways to install and FreeCAD runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux. Trying to cover that topic in every video would be impossible and pretty boring for people who already have it installed. The FreeCAD wiki does a pretty good job of documenting the installation options and process.
