Nice explanation and video. The way you turn, especially in the turn video you extend your arms to the bottom. So you do exactly the movement you want to avoid when you go up. Thanks for your meaning about this...

hello Fabian, thanks for your comment. sorry but i did not understand what you mean... sorry. about the extension of the arm during the turn (if you mean this, not sure) it has to be done only to grab the tag (during competition) or to make sure the depth gauge (placed on that arm) signs the real depth of the dive. i hope my answer is clear and on topic, otherwise please let me know so i can reply properly!! :-)

@@onlyoneapneacenter thanks for your answer. Yes, it is about the extension from the arm at depth. I know it is done like this in competitions and it is correct. I was just wondering, why you mentioned the possibility of a squeeze on the FIM ascent, but not on the turn at the bottom, because you open the chest or extend you arms about the same. I dont know if there is any difference in these moves? Anyway thanks a lot for your videos. They help!!

@@fabianmeister1458 ah, ok, now i got it! good point man! so... from my professional experience based on organizing big competitions and deep record attempts i never saw athletes squeezed because of that extension (to grab a tag) but i saw many people squeezed in depth because of the extreme powerful and wide pulling at the bottom. it makes sense to me that pulling very strong in that moment (at maximum depth) creates lot of tensions on the chest (abdominal, pectoral, shoulders and back muscles) causing lungs squeeze. the arm extending down to the plate doesn't create muscle tensions since there is not any weight to move (only a tag to grab) while the arm pulling our self up should move all our weight (many many kilos) up. hope i have been clear in the explanation... thanks again for your question!!! wish you great dive man!

Were you equalizing hands free in the first 10-12 meters? I need to frentzel after every pull would until I get negative and it feels like I am taking too long to get down if my pills are too short. It increases the overall time/depth ratio. Any recommendations? Thanks Marco

ciao Marco, thanks for the interesting question! so...no, i am not hands free, if you look carefully i equalize pinching my nose very quickly when my hand is passing in front of my face... if we master our equalization technique we can do it very quickly. second point: yes, you are right, we take longer to go to depth with short pulling BUT we use less energy so that we can hold our breath longer (producing less co2 for each pull). of course we need to find a correct balance between time and depth but remember that our first enemy is the co2 production...if you slow down the production of it your dives should easilly become longer and nicer...and as consequence deeper!! ;-) hope to have been clear in explanation i wish you amazing dives!
