Hi there, I’m Christan Long:
Did you know it's possible to dive 30m, or even 50m, or a world record 130m under the water in just one breath of air??
Join me on my SSI level 2 freediving course with Gili Air Divers as I learn to be a little bit less human and a lot more like a fish!
Actually I have done a level one course before in Egypt so this is another step up.
By the end of my course I managed to reach the maximum depth that I was allowed, 30m on one simple breath of air!
If you would like to learn this same skill you can. Free divers are not superhuman, they simply have the knowledge they need to dive deep under the water.
So check out Gili air divers, located on the stunning Island of Gili Air, near Bali. I highly recommend them, and a freediving course. You will most likely learn a lot more about yourself and the underwater world in just a couple of days.

My instructor first taught me some stretching sessions and a quick pool session. If anyone would like to learn this same skill they can. Free divers are not superhuman, they simply have the knowledge they need to dive deep under the water. By the end of the course I managed to reach a maximum depth which was 30m, in one breath. It’s possible to dive 30m, or even 50m, or a world record 130m under the water in just one breath of air. It just requires time and practice to do it.

@@WildKiwiAdventurer starting 11:10 the camera work at the bottom and narration leading up to seeing you appear from a little, black blob against a small window of surface light is amazing. Extremely dangerous sport. Many people blackout down there... Respect though for bravery!!!
@WildKiwiAdventurer
@WildKiwiAdventurer 3 жыл бұрын
Yes there is some risk, but for these dives, I have a safety diver next to me for the dangerous part, that is the top 15m or so. You are actually very unlikely to blackout deep down, you are most likely to do it just before you reach the surface. And if your safety diver takes you straight to the surface you will start breathing again usually straight away, so it is not as dangerous as you would think. To do this alone would be dangerous. And I have done that too but its not recommended.

WOW! 30 M!, that is a lot!.... I failed my FD course due I couldn't equalize, I was able to hold my breath for 3:15 in static apnea, but it is frustrating not being able to go all the way down.... someday I will try again
@WildKiwiAdventurer

Thats a shame that you cant equalise and its certainly one of the harder things to do for some people. But you should try again with a different instructor because that can really make a big difference

Beautiful video. And congratulations and your achievement. Just two little things: mouthfill and frencel are not the same but two separate technics you need for deep diving. Secondly your math was a little of. At 30m your lung shrinks to 1/4 of its original volume.
