It definitely needs more turbo, bad. However, most high performance diesels (race and pulling) don’t fully clear up smoke under full load. Some of the best do (like Firepunk’s drag truck) but most do not.

Unfortunately, I'm guessing they probably didn't, since they don't know better. For all guys working on P-Pump Cummins: Clean the pump shaft and gear bore with brake clean and compressed air before torquing the nut down. A taper friction lock only works when it is clean and dry. (Glad you're looking out for everyone too, Dan!)

Kinda weird because in this video he says it very matter of fact (doesn’t sound jokey) and the pinned comment here says “now I know” which makes me think they figured it out after making this vid. Anyway you’re probably right because you can’t pull a gear from a chain drive (without losing the chain) and can’t turn the gear or rotating assembly in fractions of degree increments with chain links and teeth, so they couldn’t have thought it was chain driven.

Jeremy is almost 3000 lbs heavier. He would need more fuel (injectors) than just that 10mm CP3 to push into the fun zone of that new 67mm turbo. He will lose but by less than last time. It’s all in fun though. It’s like leap frog. You win then they make theirs faster and they win next time, then back and forth.

There’s lap belts in there already whether or not they wear them different story - racing seats and roll bars - if you do that for a twelve second car might as well put vtec on it

There is no chain in the Cummins. And 7° engine timing is 14° pump timing. I learned the hard way when I lifted a 24v head. Be careful. But yes 24 to 30° of pump timing is ideal. I believe on spray you want closer to 26 ° total timing. Just keep an eye on the egt

Wouldn't it be 3.5 degrees pump timing? The engine spins 2 rotations for 1 pump rotation
