See, it is not that subjective as you might think. The mainstream music genres are bad because they are not actually art. It is actually an industry, just as we produce plastic, wood etc., they produce music. They are just different copies of each other and doesn't have the deep feelings that an artwork has. For that reason, mainstream music genres, specifically pop music, isn't actually art. Thus, it does not contain any artistic value.

Everyone who meets Freedom Call for the first time is surprised about their style and usually loves it and sticks to the first album/songs he heard. Then hearing older or newer albums they find they are quite repetitive and the pattern becomes a bit boring. Not every song in every album can be a hymn. That being said, this precise song accomplishes precisely that, it's an awesome hymn that distills the essence of the band and gave me the chills not unlike the ones I had when I first meet the band. I'm thankful to this band to still be able to keep making songs like this (Old metalhead that had freedom call in the fridge for 5 years)

Yes, Metal can be for everyone. At least in Europe. Just ask Lordi! ^^ When it comes to the US, I've noticed that Power Metal specifically seems to be a genre that not a lot of Americans "get". They largely seem to be more into Thrash. Or Metalcore. Or straight-up Death Metal. The few American-based power metal bands I know of either consist largely of Europeans (e.g. Kamelot), or they are more there "for the quota". Avenged Sevenfold, for example, as famous as they may be, have never done anything that I haven't seen a European Power Metal band doing better before. I don't know what it is - maybe people just need medieval castles around them to get inspired to make this kind of music! ;)

David DeFazio I also like some stuff by Unleash the Archers (they're Canadian, but American continent counts). But songs like "Tonight We Ride" are severely lacking in keyboards, as they would be required for that truly epic power-metal feeling which Freedom Call, DragonForce etc. deliver non-stop. Just guitars, bass, drums, and vocals often sounds too "dry". Also one of my main gripes with the German big player that is the band Rage, but I guess they wouldn't be considered power metal anyway. 🤔
