Freedom has never been a given. Sometimes it is earned, sometimes traded and sometimes taken. We didn't fight two world wars to learn nothing, hide in a corner then hand it to those intent on ruin. We must be strong, respect cannot always be earned, sometimes it must be taught.

absolutely true, especially when it comes to increasing the defence spending of those member states that still do not reach even the recommended 2% of GDP -mark, for those of us who do meet that expectation; we can do better! Some of us spend unnecessarily big segment of out spending on things like wages and/or arguing the choices for winning bids on contracts in court. And to our American friends: you *do* have a point that some of our European members don't carry their weight, but that is no reason to pull out, surely Uncle Sam has the ability to apply pressure on the slackers individually instead of punishing everyone collectively?

Jep In these times its our moment to wake up and get to it I just hope that Nato soon intensifies its strategic information campaigns in and out of Nato states because RU and CH havent been sleeping on this frontier

Did this title came from Helldivers?
@lordbob-up9wd17 күн бұрын
The things said in the video also really reminded me of helldivers "freedom; prosperity; our way of life" the helldivers intro uses pretty much the same phrases

I had the same reaction when i saw "defend our way of life" 😂

I think "Freedom Is Not Free" would be the correct phrase as it is engraved on the Korean War Veterans Memorial. "Freedom does not come free" is a title from a song released in 2021 that was inspired by a book released in 2020 but whatever.

2,5% from GDP at minimum could be realistic in the long run. At least not over 3%.
@herptek18 күн бұрын
3% should be the minimum so that the politicians of today and of the future would have an excuse to set aside considerably more money on procurement projects that are needed to win the future wars. Even the above strictly necessary 2.4% or so does not buy us sufficient capability to be on the safe side. We should consider this like an insurance payment of sorts because it is our country that gets trashed first if an undeterred enemy gets the upper hand even temporarily. Ones own strength is the best strength even within an alliance.
@juhamikkonen17 күн бұрын
@@herptek two things: 1. If a country manages to increase it's GDP, defence budget increases. It is not only about how many percent, but how much overall. 2. It is not only about how much overall, but how the money is spent. For example professional army costs more than conscription / reservist army.
@alexanderd679315 күн бұрын
They were recently talking about increasing it to 3%
