However at the risk of dating myself In 1995 ,my high school drumline had a 95% exact warmup..........we capped out at 230 bpm, high school. HIGH SCHOOL. Honestly I m not sure i got them chops still

JJAARRED! Just a question. I've been playing drums for 9 years now and and i can get my single stroke rolls relatively fast (don't know how many bpm sorry) and ever since i started watching some of your technique videos and others like this i've noticed that my left wrist (when playing faster rolls) is tilted/twisted counter-clockwise and my right wrist is in the correct position. Should i try and change my technique for my left wrist as it does have some effect changing to other rolls or not?

hey jared, your videos are realy cool :-) but i have a question :-)) why don't you use a rack instead of all these cymbal stands; i think it'd be much more comfortable for you, wouldn't it????
@loucontino4804
@loucontino4804 4 жыл бұрын
When I see players with alot of cymbals they inevitably have no idea how they can coax many different sounds from a cymbal. There's strikes from shoulder, tip and butt, there's slides, edge strikes, bell strikes, bell vibrato, choke catches, choked taps, rolls, etc. I would recommend to any drummer to sit with one cymbal in front of them and play it without the drums. Really figure it out alone as an instrument before you buy and throw up a bunch of cymbals to a drum kit. Then of course you can add different type, size & weight cymbals for the sound you want. But you're never going to convince me that you need as many as I see here.

Here on Utube type in Emanuelle Caplette snare solo and you will see the fastest cleanest single strokes I’ve ever seen and amazingly played with the German grip- This is unusual as this speed is usually only achieved using the French grip.

Jared, I know you are a busy guy, but I hope you can answer this for me. In the beginning of this lesson, you show how to get groups of 4, 6, and 8 notes with 2 strokes. I have the timing pretty fluid. But what I am having a problem with is when I get up to 120 bpm, I can't tell if you are doing groups of 4 notes twice or a single group of 8 notes for the 32nd note rolls. What is happening here? Thanks!

Syncopation´s 16th note pages (20 to 21 I think) are also great for speed development. Play the sixteenth notes as singles, doubles and paradiddles and continue adding tempo to the metronome. The 20 bar exercise is very motivating to play with the click. You´ll notice very fast development.
