Determine if a set of points is a parallelogram by using the slope formula

👉 Learn how to determine the figure given four points. A quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides. Some of the types of quadrilaterals are: parallelogram, square, rectangle, rhombus, kite, trapezoid, etc. Each of the types of quadrilateral has its properties.
Given four points that represent the vertices of a quadrilateral, we can determine the figure by using our knowledge of the properties of quadrilaterals. Some of the things that we look out for are: parallel sides, equal sides, perpendicular sides/diagonals, etc.

PY and QS are parallel because they're both horizontal line segments. PQ and YS are parallel because Qx-Px = Sx-Yx and Qy-Py = Sy-Yy. Thus, PYSQ is a parallelogram.

but Rectangle has 2 opposite parallel sides too how can I justify if it's a parallelogram and not a rectangle Sir?

Prove that one distance of one pair of parallel lines is greater than the other by distance formula so that any possibility of it being a square or rhombus also gets omitted...finally to prove its a parallelogram show that the length of the two diagonals is different by also using midpoint formula...whereas in rectangle its the same
