It is imperative that you read all religious texts so that you may become an atheist! The qur'an, the bible and the torah! Only then do you get to understand the utter bullshit and bigotry they ALL preach, with the qur'an being quite a bit more extremist than the rest! Needles to say jews and christians do have quite a few misguided, idiotic and dangerous fanatics in their midst but they really lag behind the muslims! And the silly thing is that the Western world treats them with the utmost respect. For instance: try spelling the qur'an this way, with no capital q and the auto correct function tells you you are misspelling it, something that does not happen for the bible or the torah!!! Talk about suicidal tendencies...

@@aleksandarmaksic5040 my path was just like yours. I decided to read the entire Bible and found out that it's total BS. I read the entire Quran also and found that it's total BS. In both of those books God is a murderous thug who orders genocide. And many of God's prophets are murderous thugs who order genocide. Now I think about all of the time in my life that was wasted on religion and the helpful things I could have done with that time to contribute to humanity if I had not wasted that time on religion. That's the opposite of Pascal's wager. That's what we lose by believing in God.

A few years ago, tired of living with all the conflicting interpretations of the Bible, conflicting teachings in the church, hypocritical behaviour of the Christians, I decided to live my life lead strictly by conscience and empathy. That was one of the most liberating decisions I have ever made. From what I have understood since then the people who REALLY need/want religion are the people who lack conscience and empathy. In fact, my wife admitted that she would be a much worse person if it weren't for a religion (she is by far not the easiest person to live with). The moral of the story -- if you have well developed conscience and empathy -- run from religion. Religion is slavery to the good people and rationalisation/escape to the selfish and mentally ill.

I've always felt many religious people were lacking an intrinsic 'moral compass' because they cannot fathom morality without the threat of eternal hell as punishment. They can't fathom that others could have an intrinsic moral compass because they don't have one. The same way liars are often very distrusting, and truthful people are more inclined to trust.

In prehistoric times, there existed Tribal Deities: Each individual tribe, of even extended family, had a patron deity. The Hebrew Scriptures make clear, that the "God of Abraham" was just such one of these tribal deities. In fact he quickly evolves into a national god: The god who has chosen the "People of Israel", therefore "The God of Israel". This is why he goes out of his way to protect, and favor his chosen people; the Israelites. This is the earliest form of "God Belief". It existed all over the ancient world, including in the Roman Empire.

One thing to add that Aron Ra alluded to but didn't quite say . . . rape laws in Biblical times, and going forward through until quite recently (and still in some parts of the world today) . . . rape is a property crime against the father or the husband. The woman isn't the victim, her owner is the victim. Likewise, in the child abuse cases cited--children are the property of the father, along with livestock and women. He can do with them as he pleases. It's all about property rights.

One thing that caught my attention and needs to be corrected: the United States *does not* have any _official_ list of hate groups. Different organizations have their own different lists of "hate groups", but not one of those lists is anything official as applicable across the entirety of the United States, and the United States government does not maintain any kind of list of hate groups. And on that we should be pleased, because such a list would actually violate the First Amendment and Fifth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States -- the latter because a declaration of someone as a "hate group" on an "official" list has due process implications.
@GodWorksOut9 жыл бұрын
brandishwar Technically, he only said "the nation's list of hate groups." Doesn't mean the government composed the list. I could say "Brandishwar's list of video games", but it does not mean you published the list nor does it mean that it isn't a legitimate list because you didn't. Was there anything about the video that you did like?
@brandishwar9 жыл бұрын
GodWorksOut No he said the "nation's _official_ list of organized hate groups" -- listen at 13:00. Again, there is no official national list. _Was there anything about the video that you did like?_ And you're asking this why? Pointing out one problem with the lecture means I didn't like _any_ of it?
@clydesight9 жыл бұрын
brandishwar I agree, it's a good thing that the U.S. government is not able to or does not keep an official list of hate groups, because the term is broadly defined. However, we know there are plenty of groups out there that do harm and are technically hate filled towards some people. There are private organizations that keep tabs on them and the FBI and other government bodies might refer to such lists in an investigation or will act on crimes supposed to be committed by them. So in a sense we do have a kind of national list of hate groups.
@rhondah15879 жыл бұрын

Enzo Trajano The rape one is easy Deuteronomy 22:28-29 “If a man meets a virgin who is not betrothed, and seizes her and lies with her, and they are found, then the man who lay with her shall give to the father of the young woman fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife, because he has violated her. He may not divorce her all his days." Exodus 22:16-17 “If a man seduces a virgin who is not betrothed and lies with her, he shall give the bride price for her and make her his wife. If her father utterly refuses to give her to him, he shall pay money equal to the bride price for virgins." The multi-marriages and concubines are more seen in the stories told in the bible rather than passages that lay out rules, so you'll find stories about men who have multiple wives and all their weird circumstances, and no condemnation of the practice.

I saw plenty of threats to leave the US if this went ahead. One bright spark I saw said on television "If gay marriage becomes legal here, I'm movin' to Canada." I laughed out loud and then said "Should we tell her now, or just let her find out for herself?" Oh and that couple in Australia who threatened to get divorced if same sex marriage became legal here? Yeah, well it became legal aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnndddd ... they're still married. (Quelle surprise!!) Because it was going to cost them a fuckton of money to get divorced. So they didn't. But they still claim that marriage is irrelevant now because "gay marriage has ruined it".

I have personally brought up this passage in Leviticus showing how God approves of (and even commands) abortion, and the response I get is "that's Old Testament", as if we are expected to believe that this changes how God feels about things. But it _could_ mean that, if it implies that even Christians recognize that the god of the Old Testament is clearly not the same god described in the New. It's an own goal, an admission even worse than the one you're after.

I would love to see a time, when no form of "marriage" is legally recognized. I do not believe in marriage at all. It is a system of human bondage, and it benefits exclusively women. I do not believe in alimony. Mothers and children who are needy, should receive welfare from the state. I do not believe biological parents own their offspring. All children should have rights guaranteed to them by the state.

I always wonder why Arron changed his last name to Ra which is another god. Seems a bit hypocritical.

I'm pretty sure he said that it was to show that the idea of God most people worship is an amalgam of gods, including the Egyptian god Ra. His point being that it's just another mythical god.
