One thing about the sun, because of the tilt of the earth and its orbit, the arc the sun makes becomes more pronounced, but also will start and end in summer in the northern hemisphere North of due east/west. Additionally, if you are within the tropics, the sun will naturally pass overhead and can be South or North depending on the time of year.
