It would be fun to see a “vengeful” bot setting where if a user quits due to e.g., a turn 1 cap role, their bot will spend the game attacking whoever started it. Playing like many of us would have if we had stayed in the game.

Every time I see a 4 cap, I ask myself how the game would turn out if caps consistently exhibited the extra defense they're supposed to. Would the noobs still noob? Would the cap yoinkers still try to yoink?

The rolls being positive at a low # of troops makes a lot more sense than when there are 100+ units on the capitals. The rolls should be more volatile (in both directions) at low numbers since they are after all dice rolls. The problem is that the volatility should go down as the sample size grows, but it doesn't.

I love how the rank system incentivizes botting out. The fact that you can rank up to master without ever playing a single turn is ridiculous.

I have a question for you, Pete, if you notice it. In the first game, you said right after the cap smack that you should have kicked Purple. You mentioned it again later in the game, but you didn't explain unless it comes up in the second game. Why should you have kicked him? It's not his play. You said yourself it was a good move and something you would have done. It wasn't a sign of cheating somehow because if he had a stack to add to in Italy then adding and taking France with his cap location made sense and he just happened to see an opportunity. If you talked about it during the second game, I'm sorry I jumped the gun in asking, but I was barely able to wait until the end of the first game to see if you told a why.

I think when you mentioned you should have killed him the second time you said something about a feeling about it, but the timing of the first mention made it look really bad, like it was related to the hit. In progressive, it's fewer troops. Vastly fewer if many set behind you.

I guess you take away your potential for more troops if someone else ends up setting early. You also increase the troops for someone else, should they choose to set early.

2nd game, I would have given the edge to your eventual cap placement before the Pink cap. Afterwards, I would have gone to the north Orient position blocking into Russia and Orient. I know it only connected two but it was safer and would have possibly allowed you to build something and not get constantly attacked. It's progressive though so you not getting a trade on 3 or 4 is what did you in even more than getting stuck between Pink, Orange and eventually Purple.

2 troops less on territories and 2 more for cap. You do have to get sort of unlucky tbf, but there are games where you just don't have a viable spot, between late turn order and 1 stacks.

So, while I can see why it looks that way, and I can't say it wasn't a collab of some sort, but having had my own cap yanked often enough, I find that the other players, when they see you're getting 3 or 4 per turn, the other players go out of their way to hit you. I don't think they're looking for the kill, but they know you can't really do much about it. Conversely, if they address a snow-balling player, they can get smashed.
