Your editing is so well done! it's often hard to translate through the lens of a camera what it's truly like in such epic conditions, but I really had the feeling that I was right there on the boat with you. Cheers!

I have to say you've done a wonderful job on the refit and your little boat is looking simply amazing and so much more comfortable. She kind of reminds me of a story we read in grade school as children here in the states about the "Little Engine that Could". I don't think your little boat thinks she's little at all and with all the love and skill you've put into her I don't think she is. I think she easily punches above her weight class when it comes to things like comfort and ability. I'm also very happy to see all the added safety features and how much you both respect just how dangerous sailing can be. Another thing that made me very happy was seeing just how nice your new water maker looks and that it's been gone through and installed correctly. Many people may not realize just how important and safety enhancing it can be. Now no matter what as long as it's working properly water will no longer be a concern. I'm so happy for the two of you living the life you've chosen not something that was forced onto you. I wish you nothing but fair winds and safe travels, God Bless...

NOVEMBER 6, 2021: WOW! You guys are terrific sailers, adventures, givers and teachers. This video was exciting to watch from the comforts of home. Yet, "permission to come aboard " enters my dreams. Please allow me: Troy you are a remarkable individual on many fronts, safety first, thorough preparations, depth of knowledge, and a sweet disposition shared with many. Of course, without question, the world can sense your partner's hard-fought abundance of complementing skills which PRODUCES and delivers wonderful videos. Thank you both! Richard

Twas but a sea breeze. Back in the sailing days of old the barges used to use the early morning breeze down the channel to leave Hobart and then use the afternoon sea breeze to come back up channel home to Hobart.

I participated with my captain and crew in a 1 year refit of an islander 36 then raced across the Pacific from san Francisco to kaneohe Hawaii some 2600 miles if I remember correctly. But the refit is something I remember so vividly and is what I know gave me the confidence to make such a long passage. When you know every inch of your boat...you can handle most things. My best to you as you cross the southern ocean a crossing most sailors will say is the most difficult. ❤

Reminds me of when I had invited a never-before-sailor GF for a chill 2 day return sail back to my tiny sailer's home port. We had been tied to a private dock downwind on an island and hadn't been able to make well-cooked meals since the stove was broken and the constant rain made it impossible to fire up the bbq. "Ok, we got to go" I said. Since we had been completely sheltered from the wind I didn't notice the true gale blowing and hoisted both main and jib without any reefing. O'boy we were blow sideways just out of the leeward. My GF freaked out and managed to turn the boat and head back to the dock faster than Mr Bolt. So, at the end of the day, my real life take-home lessons were: 1) never underestimate possible wind and/or avoid/forget the forecast, 2) if in doubt, reef in time, but best 3) start out with 60-70-80% sail until you understand both the current and the predicted weather situation 100%.

Epic start to your voyage! As a sailing couple you both are unstoppable and quite bad ass. You truly depict what it means to be “real” sailors, especially on a small yacht beautifully refit sailing in notoriously rough waters. I’m certainly impressed from the comforts of Florida’s west coast. Fair winds and cheers.

Yeah, never sailed Tassi but in the baltic, the rule of thumb is up to 3bft more than forecast for certain channels / areas in certain conditions. If it looks like a funnel and the wind is blowing into it, Bernoulli is giving you hands-on experience on the basics of fluid dynamics... Some local weather reports include this, most don't, so there's plenty of folks biting more off than they can chew...

Covid blew way my retirement plans to circumnavigate in a Panda 40 and I had to return to NZ from Cairns. Of course, my beautiful Panda had to be sold…. Here I have picked up a rescued H28 for $500 (it was all I could afford once investments etc. had taken their toll and will take another few thousand to bring back) but your videos have inspired me that, once finished, a 28’ boat is capable of many things..! Watch this pace, I suppose, and thanks!

We have an older version of the personal MOB AIS units in our PFFs. It seems they have improved them quite a bit. I felt ours were extremely fiddly and am not at all convinced they will actually go off when the PFD inflates. Still better than nothing. They are 3 years old now. I suppose they will need replacing one of these days. $250/unit is money well spent even though we never needed them. That Jybe at the end of the video was a bit gruesomee. Ouch! Good thing you have all that new stronger rigging and a fresh replacement boom now.
