@Freesciencelessons
@Freesciencelessons 4 жыл бұрын
The titration method would most likely be a six marker and the calculation maybe a four marker I suspect. Percentage yield perhaps a four marker. If they did incorporate a balancing question then that would normally be worth a mark.

If you get a large decimal number, to what decimal place should you round it to? 2 or 3? I asked this because you changed it throughout the video! Thanks!
@Freesciencelessons
@Freesciencelessons 7 жыл бұрын
Hi. It changed in the video because some calculations produce a number which does not need rounding but others do. To be honest, it depends on the calculation. If it's important, the exam question will tell you how many decimal places you need to round to.

Hello Sir, at 2:45, we multiple 0.25 mol/dm^3 by the RFM (36.5) to get g/dm^3, but shouldn't we multiply that answer by 2 because the formula is 2HCl?
@Freesciencelessons
@Freesciencelessons 4 жыл бұрын
Hi. No we took the large 2 infront of the HCl into account earlier on when we worked out that we have 0.0025 moles of calcium hydroxide so we must have 0.005 moles of hydrochloric acid. After that, we don't need to consider the large 2.

Will the question give you the balanced equation or the equation at all to work out the ratio?
@Freesciencelessons
@Freesciencelessons 6 жыл бұрын
If it's a titration, they may just give you the balanced equation since they're testing your ability to do a titration not balance an equation. However, if they also want you to balance the equation, then you will still be able to get the marks on the titration even if you balance the equation incorrectly (the mark scheme will account for that).

Great Video! what if it is 1M because my question asks 25m*3 of ammonia solution were neutralized by 20cm*3 of 1M sulphuric acid. calculate the concentration of the ammonia solution How would I calculate this?
@Freesciencelessons
@Freesciencelessons 4 жыл бұрын
The number of moles of sulfuric acid will be 1 x 0.02 = 0.02 moles. The equation for the reaction you are discussing is 2NH4OH + H2SO4 ---> (NH4)2SO4 + 2H2O. This means that we have 0.04 moles of ammonium hydroxide (ie ammonia solution). Concentration = number of moles / volume = 0.04 / 0.025 = 1.6 M

The small two means it is diatomic like oxygen (O and small 2). This means that the oxygen molecule only exists in two pairs. The big 2 shows the number of moles or how many there are.

@Freesciencelessons

Hi. The Mr of a compound does not depend on any big number before the formula, so the Mr of HCl is still 36.5. We take the large 2 into account later in the calculation.
