I use zinc based diaper cream on my horse’s white areas that tend to burn in our southern climate. It prevents sunburn, doesn’t wash off in the rain, and has healing properties.

I love how confident Shae walks into these auctions. Her posture is perfect and her eyes are always scanning and assessing. But she stops to always offer a kind word or pet to the cute or sad ones. Shes such an inspiration.

I think that depends on how full your wallet is. 😊 They may think he was a real bargain at that price. I know it would be way out of my range! If I had that kind of money laying around I have a lot of repairs on my house that would take priority.

Agree, I think the northern area that she’s buying in is very overpriced for horses, especially since the horses she buys are really only suitable for western trail. She likes heavy, drafty horses that, while beautiful, have movement not really suitable for any specific discipline found in western or English. While she appears to train her students in English tack, none of her horses could be competitive. To pay $18k for a trail horse is something I have a hard time wrapping my head around. She does have a knack for picking horses with lovely temperaments.

@@oldageisdumb To be fair, Shay has said before that she's not in the business of competitive horses. She shows them to get them exposure to different disciplines + socialization + as part of their training to become good general riding horses, and to let her students get low-level showing experience. The horses she sells on are going to farms like hers or to more "casual" riders, I'm sure. But yes, I think we all can agree that horse was bought for more than what's likely his "fair" value.

Oh darn, I saw too many I liked too. I agree about the grays, so I would stick to the darker colored horses or the paints. This was an interesting auction video. REMEMBER that was the bid that won, if Shae or anyone else had bid it could have gone higher. I discovered years ago that it's not the person who bids the last that sets the price it's the last person who quits bidding. In other words, if I quit before the other bidder has reached his/her limit, I'm the one that sets the price as I quit and the winner would only have to bid a few dollars more to get the horse. But no one knows that when it is going on. One auction that I wanted to buy some used corral panels, I couldn't be there on sale day so I arranged for the auction house bid for me. Here in my state that's perfectly legal. The people that quit bidding was expecting that I would just pick the ones I wanted and they would bid on the rest. However, I wanted them ALL! The ones that quit were really mad when they found that out. (The auctioneers told me later about it...)
