Unbelievable! My Unhandled Foal’s Remarkable 2 Week Training Progress

Hey Horse Lovers! Ariel is truly making waves and coming out of her shell so to speak. WOW what a journey this has been. Ariel is making great progress and starting to relax more and more here at Free Spirit Farm. She is fierce, intelligent, curious, and challenging all in one. However, we are starting to break through her hard exterior shell only to find a soft, inquisitive filly. In this video you will get to see the progress we have made over the last 2 weeks of Ariel being here at the farm. We will also be upgrading her to a larger stall for a few more days. You will get to see the process of how we move her into the new stall without her being halter trained. I will sit with her, brush her, halter her, attempt to lead her, and even handle her legs! We are mainly focusing on bonding, training, and desensitizing her to touch and basic handling skills so that she can go out into the paddock soon and meet other horses. Bagheera is such a treasure. She looked like she understood what her role was. I couldn't say if Ariel's isolation where you were her all she had for social activity helped her advance, but she's going to learn so much from the other horses.

The scenario where Ariel did not want to walk and you bringing another horse was really smart. I love how you use a little pressure to none. She is a sweetheart 💕 and i think someday she will be out in a field with ezzy, and those 2 will be absolutely perfect for each other, no doubt. I am just tickled pink over the care and attention Kyle is giving to making sure his little girl will be safe in the new stall. Also loved that he is hands on filling the food and water buckets. A calm steady influence that will surely grow to mutual love! Can’t say enough of course at how far you have come with sweetums. I held my breathe as you picked up not one, but both of her feet, just as if it was as natural as could be. Using Bagheera to coax Ariel out of her stall was a brilliant move that underlines your expertise. On the one hand it accomplished what had to be done, on the other hand it introduced Ariel to one of your herd… They seemed to be very in sync… a ‘baby girl ‘ for Bagheera? I'm so happy you chose her, and not the easier choice. I can only imagine what she could've been put through, but instead, she's being handled with love, care and RESPECT!! My heart melted when she followed Bagheera out, but I could tell she wanted to keep following Bagheera everywhere, so she'll probably really come out of her shell once with the herd!!! I think of how children go through trauma, as Ariel, and I just pray for more kind and loving humans because our world truly needs to watch your handling of an equine to learn determination, trust building, patience and understanding. It has been so exciting over the past two weeks watching Ariel with the way she has warmed up to you so fast and how much she trusts you already. Bagheera to the rescue. . . being a senior older mare, she's knows what needs to be done. She is serving multiple duties and roles for you that the geldings couldn't do (as well). Poor Ariel, she wanted to follow Bagheera and stay with her. It broke my heart for her after the door shut behind Bagheera. She looked sad and deflated. We all know that its only temporary, but she doesn't. How overjoyed she will be when she gets moved to the outside paddock. I noticed that she is smaller than Ezzy too, but that may be because Ezzy was given super nutrition from the womb to date. Interesting...☺

It was amazing how Ariel greeted Bagheera at first. She didn’t seem frightened at all meeting a new horse and she was eager to follow Bagheera into the new larger stall. The progress is magnificent! Your handling Ariel with gentleness and the slow progression into her learning new experience is working brilliantly! I now understand your emotional reactions when you’re sad, disappointed at some of the auctions - because once you’ve committed, you’re in all the way with patience and love - and Ariel will certainly thrive under your care. Looking forward to the meetings with her new family - Izzy is a fearless hoot because from day one she’s been wrapped in your love - and I suspect Ariel will relax and soak it all in once she sees outside the barn, and what will be her world from now on. I know it’s been said before, but I will say it again. Kyle is the best horse husband you could ever ask for! He is so wonderful. ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Bagheera. Such a good, cool, calm mare. Ariel for sure knew that Bagheera was a mate she could trust and I am sure seeing you handle Bagheera helped Ariel see (even more than she already knows) that you are someone she can trust.
