Hey Horse Lovers, I have an update regarding Prince Charming my Auction Appaloosa Horse. Over the past 12 months we have been on a long journey and a roller coaster of a ride regarding his rehabilitation. In this video I'm going to give you the results of what we discovered during his MRI at OSU and what our plan is following that. When you own horses there is a lot of good, but their can also be difficulties. I am here to share my journey with you no matter what happens good or bad. Let the horse do his own thing in the pasture. I’ve had arthritis for years. The issues only started off with a slight limp, it’s not severe yet I’m afraid lovely. Let all the vets go and let the horse live his life in the pasture until it’s too bad. When you originally showed us this horse - he looked in a lot less pain than me, and I’m okay. As a 66 year old woman who has had dogs all my life. I’ve had to put down several pup babies. It’s never an easy decision but I myself wouldn’t want to live like that. Best decision possible. I would not want to have one of my pets living in pain. I have 2 pasture horses. One is doing great, the other one is not doing as well as I think he should. I’m working through his issues and praying I find the formula to get him back on the road to health. Completely agree with the decision.

Prince Charming was a friendly, affectionate, goofy, vibrant soul. To keep a sweet, social animal like that trapped in a stall for months at a time, over and over, would be unkind. He would never have been able to run or play in the herd properly, at the risk of reinjuring himself. Trust when we say, having watched you every day. *You’ve done the right thing. He understands. I am 50 and a retired RN. I know it's hard for some people to understand that throwing money and medicine at a problem can make it worse but you have made the right decision. I am so proud of you for sharing it on the channel it is so BRAVE. You could have lied and made up a "colic" emergency or something easy like that. I had horses when I was younger and hope to have some in the coming year or two. I APPRECIATE SO MUCH the knowledge you share about buying auction horses and how to be prepared. Yes and for something you love and want to give a life that’s what you do for it a horse is the best friend you will never be able to replace but I’m to young to be spending money on my horse just to save her for a few years and my parents won’t spend the money I think it would just be best to put her down now yet they are making her suffer by saying she still has life and she doesn’t she made the best decision I hope he’s better even though she spent money that she could have saved she did it anyway and gave him another year of life in a good home

As a horse owner of 40 years we have had to make this type of decision several times. Just last week I had to put down my retired trail horse because of neurological problems. The vet was confident there is no fixing the issue and the incidents would happen again and more often. The strength you have to make this kind of decision is releasing Prince Charming from a future life of pain. Thank you for caring so much for your horses and giving them the best life possible. You did the right thing. Trying to squeeze a week or few more months is not the right path. Loving them enough to let them go - is the greatest gift. Limping, flinching is response to pain. I agree 100% with your decision. I recently had to have my 15 year old dog euthanized due to severe arthritis in her legs. She had been too loyal a companion to let her suffer in pain and with a decreasing quality of life. It was the hardest decision I have made in my life but it was simply wrong to let her suffer because I was unwilling to be without her. Keep your memories of Prince Charming close to your heart. ❤

A Short Story: My horse dumped me and I landed on my right hip. I felt my pelvis push forward and then spring back to it's normal position. That was 60 years ago. My SI joint was damaged. I didn't know that then. I spent years in hip and back pain. Every motion would trigger pain. My activity level got slower and slower. Now in my 70's, I am on pain medications. Yes, it gets worse. Some days, I cannot carry a full cup of coffee from one room to another. Housework is almost impossible. Today, I am grateful for what I can do. My deepest regret is that I will not be able to ride anymore. I can attest that you did the right thing. Improvement happens - until I move slightly wrong, and I'm back to square one again. I feel his pain. You did the right thing. Absolutely and amen!

I worked in the vet field for 16 years, animals mask their pain, they can't tell you they are hurting, look at these animals that look so bad but are wagging their tail, and not showing they hurt. I know this is an older video and I don’t want to open wounds but I very much appreciate this video and without a doubt you made the right decision for Prince Charming. I have been in dog rescue for 13 years and recently read the greatest article about how the rescue community has almost gotten out of control with saving animals often times at the detriment to the animal they are saving. Charm had almost 18 years of life, and animals don't think about the future, they don't understand death, they just exist in the moment. I will never forget the day I decided to put my childhood cat down. it is not the same monetary investment but I had an strong connection to him. His kidney was failing, we could have treated him regulary and kept him inside. but he was an outdoorcat. it was kinder to put him down. when you deceide to get an animal it is scary how much control you get over its wellbeeing. always good to see how someone truly cares for the wellbeeing of their protégé.

Hi Shae, this is almost a year later, but you did the right thing. You know that we are spirits having a physical experience. Ask him to come to you in a dream and let you know he’s all right. I had that happen with my first Sheltie. He’d been gone for about 2 years. I spoke to his spirit , saying “Noah, you’ve been gone for two years and you haven’t even come to see me in a dream.” A couple weeks later, i had a dream where we were at the veterinarian’s office where he was put down, only this time he was lying in a box and my Mom, Dad, the veterinarian and I were all dumping cups of water (emotion) over him. Gradually the water covered him. In a moment, I saw one of his ears twitch, then he raised his neck and then he jumped up and shook off all the water. “Look at me, I’m as good as new and you don’t need to be sad any more!” He was no longer in the old, broken-down body. He was back in his prime, letting me know he loved me and was as good as new in the spirit realm. Maybe Prince Charming will visit you in dreams if he hasn't already. It's hard to let them go, but you've done him a great kindness by giving him a loving ending to his earthly life. I know he's grateful!

The Native peoples called the horse the sacred dog. If you love deeply you know the connections that are made with all animals. You gave him in the last time of his life the best care and love he could have ever gotten...you are a blessing of immense measure to the horses and the horse world. You are both an immeasurable blessing and example to all of us as well. You show how to be loving and caring to the animals in your care and also to each other. Here is my vision for you....way in the future when you cross the rainbow bridge__ waiting on the other side will be a herd of horses and Prince Charming will be at the lead and happy,happy neighs( not sure about that spelling) will be sounding loudly and joyfully on that day! My dog just all of a sudden went from healthy to kidney failure, and I just took him to the vet yesterday and I had to put him down. I had to think of HIS quality of life plus the money in doing ICU for three days plus vet charges, could be 10,000 to have him be sick and feel bad. It's really hard. I understand. I send prayers out to you. You did the BEST you could. He taught you what he was to teach. You both completed your contracts.

Some time's the hardest part of owning Pet's is knowing the right time to say good bye 😢 A friend who is a vet one day said to me when I asked how you know the time is right and her words stay with me every time I have to make this hard decision with one of our rescue's and that is... Oh dear ❤ Shae. Yes, he was in pain. I saw that clearly. I believe you, I believe in you and the decision you are making for this poor prognosis, for PC's best interests. The hardest decision any of us can make who live with animals is the ability to make this decision when it's needed. My heart weeps for the pain for you and Kyle, but this is absolutely the right decision. If he could talk I'm sure he'd tell you he loves you for SO MUCH you've done for him, tried to do for him. I know this is late, that happened a year ago. This and the video before that I watched. You did the kindest thing you could for him. That is the point, it is all about what is best for Prince Charming. Our feelings do not trump what is best for a living creature to live a quality of life without pain. To do otherwise is selfish in not wanting to let go. That is the greatest love you gave him, you gave him a chance, and you did everything possible to make him physically comfortable. God bless you for making the hard decision of doing what was best for him. And not looking at how much it is going to hurt when he dies.

🙏❤️😢🌈 Right after we had to have our mini poodle put down after he had gone into kidney failure, my Mother said… “We’re kinder to our animals…” Those words stuck with me, and helped me as a Hospice nurse… trying to make patient’s days left happy as they could be, and when I had to put my ❤️ horse down. Thank you for your kindness 🙏❤️ And, being brave enough to make this decision ❤😢

@Lottie Stanley - it's never an easy decision to make. I have regretted some of my choices, but I learned to be a better ĵudge for when it is time to let go. Dogs and cats we are connected to in our homes. They sleep, eat, play and be with us 24/7

Animals cannot deal with pain like humans do.they can’t reason and make life adjustments. He is a horse inside and out just like you are saying. To make this decision is so very difficult, horrible, sad, distressing. I’m totally behind you. Wish could be there to give you hugs and in person support! Keep hanging in there!
