I’ve been wanting to get back into shovet and this definitely helped. Love your videos & trick tips I’ve also learned how to do a 360 pop shovet on a freestyle flat nose deck.

7:33 all the different angles is really helpful to watch if you put the playback speed at 0.25. appreciate your work Tony

That's a good shout. As a general rule, I personally don't include slow-mo because a) the videos are long enough, b) egregious slow-mo kinda gets annoying, c) you lose some of the overall motion of the trick in slow-mo, and d) I think still sequences are a better way of seeing and fully analysing the key moments than slow-mo (hence the website version of every tip). I forget that KZbin has a built-in playback speed option for those who want it, though. I'll have to make a point of recommending it to folks.

Great tip! I was doing them street style for years and it was a trick I loved doing. But I had a single kick end of last year and I had to learn the proper technique. Since then it’s just gotten cleaner and cleaner and feels better.

Yeah, it makes a huge difference, right? I can't even imagine doing 540 shuvits "street style". That stance is just all wrong for that sort of power. It's a very wasteful technique.

You explain very well! If you did a fakie 360 shove it tutorial, I would be glad ! :) Fakie is much easier for me.
@FreestyleTricktips4 жыл бұрын
That's a good shout. Fakie 360 shuvs are not too dissimilar to the frontside 360 shuvits I already did a tricktip for, but there are a few quirks to consider. Next time I get to go out and safely film somewhere, I'll get a video done for them.

It's tough to know why without seeing video of you doing a 360 shuvit, but my guess is you're not jumping forward enough as you take off. Try pushing off your front foot more as you start the trick to leap forwards a little bit.

Wait... people do these one-footed?! Wow.
@FreestyleTricktips5 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Jesse Whalen even does 540 ones one footed - and makes them look easy, the BASTARD. Once you've got the two-foot technique down, doing the whole trick with just your front foot isn't too hard - but the takeoff is a nightmare.

Spring i coming, which means it's skateboard season! What 3 tricks (tricktips) do you think I should practice if I'm new to freestyle? I'm a very basic skateboarder as well, I know how to roll and to do an occasional ollie :D

1) Railstand - heelside - toeside - railflip (in both) 2) Casper - plop to casper - rail to casper - half flip to casper 3) Truck - handed 50-50 - handed pogo 4) Other - old school kickflip/ m80 - walk the dog - shuvits
@FreestyleTricktips5 жыл бұрын
That's not a bad list. Generally speaking, these trick tips go up in order of skill. If you start waaaay back at Tricktip 1 (Heelside rail) and work through in order, each video should build on the ones before it. For instance, don't try to casper until you learn to go to rail. Don't try to walk the dog until you can endover, and so on, and so forth. I also really recommend you work on footwork (freestyletricktips.com/footwork/ ) and wheelies (freestyletricktips.com/category/wheelies/ ) early on. These are the hardest things to perfect, but have the biggest effect on how comfortable you are on your board overall.

Too late, just learned it 2 days ago. Gonna check it anyway as I might need some adjustments for my foot position due to struggling with the bs 540 shove it.

@@FreestyleTricktips nope. Just had my front foot in a 45° angle instead of pointing straight forward. Bs 360 shove is 8 out of 10 now and the 540 has been landed as well. I do struggle getting the necessary speed though. By the time I've got it and set up for the trick I am 5 feet away from crashing into the fence of my basketball court. But once again your trick tips have been a huge help. Couldn't have made it without you 🙏
@FreestyleTricktips5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you have to be really quick with the setup on the 540 if you've got limited space. I find getting the front foot into position before you even start moving helps - you just do two big pushes, get the back foot on, and throw. That's why I've started doing the backside one more than the frontside one lately. I prefer frontside, but that's much harder to do in tight spaces.

Actually you can do it down stairs. Just gotta have balls and roll hella fast 😂
@FreestyleTricktips5 жыл бұрын
I really wouldn't want to do anything non-popped down stairs these days. Floating off a drop isn't fun!
