A cool trick, Tony. Thanks for keeping rolling skateboarding alive.

Fun fact: someone sent a friend of mine a PM saying not to bow to my warcry/mission statement of "learn rolling tricks", saying that they imagine it would "apply pressure" to their skating. Absolute fucking madness. I'm trying to be encouraging here!

@@FreestyleTricktips "Apply pressure to their skating"? Bloody hell. It's not skateboarding if you aren't rolling. Flipping a skateboard around without rolling is essentially just playing with a plank of wood. LOL

Watching you lay on the skateboard made me want a trick tip for a coffin. Saw it done the other day in a 60s freestyle skateboarding contest and didn't realize it went that far back. This trick looks pretty tough but really smooth when it's right!

I have done a trick in a similar vein as this but backside! The way I thought of it was backside pivot to fakie manual and your body wants to keep turning backside so I tossed a fakie bigspin and that worked. I have a crappy video of it but haven’t posted anywhere! Never would have considered doing frontside pivot and tossing a trick out of that!! I’m trying this tomorrow! Thanks for posting

Those are fun. Try doing them as a casper instead - that motion makes the transition to a casper surprisingly well.

I think it'd be tough to do at speed, but you're right - it'd be a nice bit of filler between ledge tricks or something.

@@FreestyleTricktipsyou don’t have to go that fast to do stalls, slides and grinds. It might be hard to get enough pop for higher obstacles but I can definitely see getting into a grind on a curb or lower ledge like the ones outside the Boston Aquarium. In a year I will show you the video… maybe 😂
@JohnAvillaHerpetocultural Жыл бұрын
Oooooh, this just occurred to me; you could do pretty much any pop trick into a manual/wheelie and then do this out! I was never really a manual master but it seems like learning freestyle would pay dividends with that game too.
@FreestyleTricktips Жыл бұрын
@@JohnAvillaHerpetoculturalI never managed to figure out how to pivot in a manual and whip round to a fakie manual, but if we're playing at "silly things you could do with a slingblade", manual - slingblade - fakie nose manual would be amazing.

@@FreestyleTricktips Watch Daewon. He manuals either way and pivots to the other shove it out (and just about anything else) all the time. This reminded me of years ago, when I skated a lot. I was always the "freestyle" kind of guy, while the other guys just focused on kickflips and 360 flips, while for some reason, being a little afraid of doing shove-its, since the board usually would flip whenever they tried. And for some reason, I was super comfortable with shove-its, but not with flips.. I just spent most my time doing cavemen tricks, and "inventing" new ones (never seen them before, not back then and still not to this day), but one particular trick this kind of reminded me of, was a 360 spin with one foot. You ride at a moderate/slow pace, with your back foot pointed towards the nose of the board with your toes (90 degree angle from normal placement), you lift your front foot from the board, and then you use your back foot to spin around with the board 360 degrees (frontside), and lifting your front wheels above the ground a little (it is possible to also let the front wheels slide across the ground technically), and then put your front foot back down again. It was so much fun to do and most people I skated with, didn't get how to do it.. But if you get good at it, you can do it while riding at a decent speed, and then it looks even more sick haha.
@FreestyleTricktips2 жыл бұрын
Don Brown used to do something similar to that; have a look at his Barge At Will part and you'll see what I mean: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ombIlKRnhM11qc0 I always thought it looked cool how it was somewhere between a spin and a carve; there's a fair bit of motion to it.
@sc1ss0r1ng2 жыл бұрын
@@FreestyleTricktips that is very similar, but he’s next level good at it haha. I would usually do a 360, sometimes 720, but he’s doing it so effortlessly. Thanks for the link, really cool to see.

Bro I want to see you do the Raz twist and hopefully one day you can do an updated truck review. Tracker trucks has been out of stock. I don't know if they even make them any more and it's hard to find the film 4.25 in the states. Paris trucks are way to high. We need a modern day review of freestyle trucks. antihero just released a freestyle complete and put Thunder 143 on the deck. Any thoughts?
@FreestyleTricktips2 жыл бұрын
What's the raz twist? Do you mean the "Mroz twist", aka the Pauliño? I fucking suck at those. I'd give the Thunders a go but they're a tad wider than what I like - they have a 7.125" axle according to a couple of sources. I'd want to double check that myself as most places regurgitate false information, though. Sure Grip Invaders are a good lower truck for freestyle - those should be easier to find in the States. I did a video about those on here a while back.
@yesmaybe6302 жыл бұрын
@@FreestyleTricktips yea thanks and you were right, the Mroz twist. And did you ever see Kevin Harris do the kick flip 360 or the kickflip one footed 360 . I would love to see that for a trick tip.

Way to go. honestly that’s reminds me of learning tic-tac’s accidentally before learning how to do stationary manuals. and that’s how i got into stationary freestyle. (lot easier then street and rolling freestyle tricks in my opinion)
@FreestyleTricktips2 жыл бұрын
@@darkXwolf17-UD Stationary stuff has a weird difficulty curve. The absolute basics are a lot faster to pick up than anything else, but eventually you hit a cliff face where going any further is a real challenge. Street almost works the other way around - learning to ollie is an utter nightmare, but once you've got your head around that and figured out how to flip one, everything just kinda unfurls with little effort.
@grosha772 жыл бұрын
beautiful trick. I like how you are insisting on freestylers learning to roll around. it is not just freestylers, though. I see skateboarders all the time who are learning kickflips but can barely stand on the board.
@FreestyleTricktips2 жыл бұрын
It's a common problem. I've always associated it with teenage boys historically - when I was actually "coaching" for a living, I found they were so eager to learn flips that they completely skipped over actually learning to move on a skateboard. Freestyle's array of stationary moves just makes that even worse.
@grosha772 жыл бұрын
@@FreestyleTricktips I believe you! What is also making it worse is Social Media. stationary moves are so much easier to film, especially when you have no cameraman... I have troubles filming my best moves because they are all over the place...
@FreestyleTricktips2 жыл бұрын
@@grosha77 Honestly, this is one of the primary reasons I've never done much on Instagram. I tried playing the game for a while but setting up a camera and forcing yourself to either stay in shot or just sit there doing stationary tricks is boring as hell. I'd rather be actually skating instead of trying to be an "influencer"!
@grosha772 жыл бұрын
@@FreestyleTricktips same here. Of course I'm nowhere near your skill level. But I go skating every day for one hour and I just love the feeling of "flowing" around, spinning and rolling and doing the occasional stationary trick. But skating for the camera takes the fun and the flow out of it. That being said, I still hope you find the time to make your videos because I love your style. When it comes to style, you and Denham are on the top of my list in all of skateboarding.

I don't mind a little stationary but I can't say I have ever seen Kevin Harris do any type of rail flip. The best freestyle imo is all about fluidity and flowing movement.
