these finned L05A are so good, used it for a year at 7500km+ and they still have around 1.2mm left of life on them, it's the most durable brake pads i had so far, i wonder if the fins helped with minimizing heat degradation as well as with icetech rotors im using

Nice, I've got Xt br785 brakes and I'm going to upgrade the stock pads with no cooling fins to the j05a pads. Also want to get some ice tech rotors but not sure which ones

If I remove the screw on the lever in order to push the pistons back, is there a risk that fluid will come out while pushing the pistons and/or the air will get into the system? I think it's important, ideally it had to be shown in the video. Your channel is great, your videos are very detailed, informative and valuable.

Fluid won’t come out reservoir when you push the pistons back! It will only come out a little if the system has been topped up with fluid when the pads were worn low.

@@FreeToCycle hey mate. would be great to actually see you do this as I've never heard of the need to remove the lever screw and dont know what screw you refer to. cheers

Thanks mate. I was hunting for L03As over the summer and realised they had been replaced by the L05As. What are your views on the disc rotors? I am loyal to the old SM-RT800 and SM-RT900.

I'd rather use the cheaper K05S (non-finned version) as the fins most likely don't do anything for cooling. What do you think?

always wondered this myself too

@@liamgaul I have the non-finned on my bike now for a month and they work as good as the finned ones. Zero difference

@@liamgaul Yes, I live in Switzerland :) Plenty of descents and no problems whatsoever. Exactly the same performance

I’ve had nothing but squealing since changing from the 4a to the 5a pads discs , rubbed up and cleaned the disc rotors with brake cleaner never had any issues before with sram or the 3a or 4a pads , the 5a are just harder i will be trying a different make of pads . Excellent content on your channel 👍

where is the lever screw?

Thanks a lot man, removing the the bleeding cover from top is a golden information 👌🏼. I am planning to change my dura ace 9120 caliper and 140mm rotors with new dura ace 9270 160mm rotor in front and 140mm in back. What do I need please?
Question I saw the pads also carry a making on them say L AND R. I am thinking it mean left and right. Can u please shed some light why? Thanks for the video. I am thinking standing behind the bike the left would be outside and the right would be inside. But I am not sure why would it need to be mark.

Because pads with the tapered cooling fins only install one way
