Wow the traveler delay does seem much more pronounced! I’m surprised. I have been using an alphasmart 3000 for 8+ years but I think it’s soon time to upgrade because the keyboard is just worn out and sometimes not registering what I’m typing now. I’m not really an on-the-go writer so I’m leaning towards the regular Freewrite model you’re reviewing. Holding out for a fun color 🙏🏻 not too into the yellow or mint they currently have available. I’m glad you can do minor editing now as I’d have the same annoyance as you.

Nice video. I'm very keen on getting one. Unfortunately the reports of texts being lost all over reddit and other forums have made me very wary, and I'm thinking of getting a Remarkable 2 together with the folio keyboard.

Very cool, does the free write plug into a Mac like it does the pc?

In other words they changed next to nothing but gave it new firmware that is not present on the older models which allows for the "arrow Keys". Good Concept...Greedy Company!

That's why we need a viable alternative to this otherwise great machine. I want the exact same thing WITHOUT any of the WiFi connection requirements. WHY does every friggin thing today require a WiFi connection? Even your clothes dryer refuses to dry your bath towels unless you type in the right code on your smart phone! I for one am SICK of this ridiculous BS.

Very nice review! I was just about to pull out my credit card to buy one of these but then discovered that you have to connect to their friggin postbox to manage your files! Does anyone know of a similar device with mechanical keyboard, nice display, internal storage, good battery life, and USB connectivity to a desktop that does NOT have any internet/WiFi connection or requirement? That's what I'm dreaming of! One guy has the ZeroWriter, but it's a DIY project, and I'm lucky to have mastered the can opener.

Clarification...you do not have to connect to wifi, you can choose to only used the usb to pc to transfer files. However, for firmware updates and things like keyboard formats ( I use the English International) you will have to do that over the internet. Really, once you have you optional keyboards set up you could exist totally offline.

Thank you so much for this clarification. I definitely want to stay away from all internet connections when I'm writing, so this makes the device definitely more attractive. Thank you very much again!@@arkwibooks6419

i use the neo 2 and have just realized my old netbooks ( 999pc and s10 ideapad) make great distraction free writing. keyboards are small tho

The lack of any rudimentary editing was a dealbreaker for me.. too basic for me.. have a wooden laser cut coaster from freewrites original crowdfunding ….

E ink is going to have a delay though, if you have any type of e reader you know this, I have a kindle paper-white and I sometimes highlight and take notes and there is always a delay.
