The thing is I COULD stomach the price, but the low refresh rate on the screen is what's keeping me away. It throws me off not seeing my letters instantly come up the moment I type them

Exactly that's a killer. I had a laptop in the 1980s which had no internet or any distractions but had a better screen with no lag.

This bit about being stuck at home is so true this year!!!! But I love my Freewrite. I have loved focusing on the writing. I'm good at working without being distracted. What I love about this is that it focused me on what I'm writing now.

I’d recommend the remarkable with the keyboard add on. That’s how I still write with a pen and then able to type distraction free

​@@animula6908 that's kind of a big deal tho? maybe a lot of y'all who own these devices don't type very fast, but for those of us who do, lag is gonna make a difference. kind of silly to pay hundreds of dollars for something that can't keep up with you lol. like we get it, it's a status symbol

For a device that claims to achieve providing a “distraction-free writing experience,” the refresh rate really takes you out of it. Some people can absolutely get used to the workflow, but if you’ve been writing for years, especially digitally, this is a massive step backwards. If Freewrite would release LCD screen mods for their devices, or LCD variants on their own, I think the price would be more justified. Instead, they’re releasing a new device called the Alpha with zero angle support and the screen only shows 2-3 lines at most, depending on if you’re using spacing, which is such a kick in the ass for those who have been asking for a more comfortable writing experience with these products for years.
