I tried this recipe and when I rehydrate a bowl of it, no one realized it had been freeze dried. They thought it was freshly cooked. Thanks for all the great ideas

John, the only thing I would do different is seal the bacon in a really small leftover Mylar bag and drop instead with other ingredients. If bacon goes bad you can still eat the rest of the meal. Looks really good!

Thank you for sharing all your great ideas. I have learned more from you than from the freeze-dry book that came with the machine. Have you thought about writing a book about freeze-drying and rehydrating? I would buy it.

Thank you for the compliment. I really don't have the skill to write such a book but I am sure others are working on one.

@@JohnInBibs thank you! I am watching the Meal in a Mylar Bag Spaghetti episode and have already opened another tab to Frozenright's page. So appreciate your channel. I can't wait to try more. We just got our FD about 2-3 weeks ago and are having a ball. I just put up our first FD video on our channel today. Can't wait to do more and I WILL be doing shout-outs to your channel (even though yours is a lot bigger than mine :-D). thanks again.

Hi John another great video Thank you. I really want to try this for long-term storage. As you mentioned the bacon does scare me a bit. My wife suggested using ham instead. Have you ever tried freeze-drying ham because I think maybe him might be less fatty therefore less oil? If so how did it come out? Thanks again for all you do.
@JohnInBibs3 жыл бұрын
Yes I did ham in my fiery Hawaiian pizza video it came out great! Funny enough I am off to Walmart to pick up some grits ham and eggs to freeze dry a breakfast bowl. Great minds think alike!

This looks great. What temperature did you bake the Hash browns and where they still frozen when you put them in the oven? Thanks for sharing. You have some great ideas.
@JohnInBibs4 жыл бұрын
I did use still frozen when I added to oven, sorry I don't recall the temperature but I would think it was 450 degrees

John, can each ingredient be freeze dried separately so that different items can be added to different meals? We have VERY different eaters in our family and extended family. I’d like to make a bunch of these at one time and just add or leave out what each person likes.

In this video I used the foodsaver attachment on my vacmaster but I just recently posted a video of how to use a vacuum chamber to do the job (much better seal in my opinion) and I will be doing it that way from now on kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHa3nGCohM2bsKs

I did bacon in mine and even though it was thoroughly cooked, the fat mat a 'big fat mess' in the freeze dryer. Had to do a lot of work to get it working again. I buy precooked which keeps on the shelf a pretty long time and add it when eating. Always less messy that way.
